Julia Garner Talks Ozark Season 2

- On Monday August 13, I had the chance to catch up with Ozark's Julia Garner We chatted about a variety of subjects including how her character Ruth Langmore will change on the new season of Ozark and what she did to prepare for the role. Julia goes into detail about the relationship that Ruth shares with Marty Byrde and how that relationship differs from the one she shares with her father.

Julia Garner's work in this series is amazing.
Other than Jason Bateman's character, Julia's character is the best. She made me love this series because of her great acting!
Peter Cimino I think Ruth is WAY more exciting than Bateman’s performance....Bateman is great and perfect for that role but Julia is amazing as Ruth, she deserves at least an Emmy and GG nomination
I liked jacob's character, to be honest every character is great, this series is just great

She's great. A hard exterior ,but intelligent and sensitive underneath .You feel a lot of sympathy for her character. Role on season 3 !!

really the whole cast was cast superbly, just Like other Great shows, Justified, Breaking Bad, Weeds, Rome, The Sopranos, Deadwood, The Wire, Son's of Anarchy, just fantastic casting, not 1 or 2 people but the whole cast of these shows were awesome and came together as a whole, Raylon Givens could not have pulled it off so great without the awesome cast he had, no matter how good he was or his Character, the same for any of these shows, they just did a great job!

She plays a really good role in Ozark as Ruth.She does that accent really good.She fooled me with it and I thought it was hers in real life.That is when you know your watching a real actress that is really good at what she does.
So true - I knew it was an accent, but I came on TH-cam because I wanted to hear how she really sounds! That's because her accent is so authentic.
My only problem with it is that she called it a Missouri accent. It's southern, not MO. Im from MO and some people do talk like that, but it's rare. I can imitate the accent perfectly because I do hear it quite a bit, but the large majority of people from Missouri speak more like the Byrd family than the Langmores.
Daves Octagon you should hear her English accents in the Netflix series called Maniac. It's so so so good!

This lady nailed that character, the accent, walk etc...is spot on I knew so many country people like her growing up 👍🏽
Ozark is brilliant on so many levels and she’s great in the role. Her scenes with Jason Bateman are excellent and a testament to both as quality actors. She leans into the scenes and he does such a great job of listening and engaging with her in an understated manner. He’s so generous in just being in the moment with her and letting her rip which raises the bar for both of them and for the viewer. The entire cast is excellent.
She's my favourite character on Ozark's. Great actress.

She made this series! We binge watched the whole 3 episodes over 4 weeks. I liked it more than breaking bad. You're on the edge of the couch the whole time!! Julia is so talented!!!!

Ruth’s character has taken off with each season. Julie has done an incredible job.
By the end of the first season you can actually see that Ruth is not really the person she projects. Season 2 just took it to another level and got into more depth.

Late to the party, but I'd like to say that Julia has pulled ahead of Jason as my favorite character on Ozark after just finishing season 3. Her portrayal of Ruth is an amazing feat, and after watching this interview I've found just how amazing. She's doing a great job of getting across what she wants people to see in Ruth VERY well. A fiesty, spunky, no holds barred little firecracker that wants respect, approval and love. Great job and looking forward to more of Ruth in the future seasons. Be well and safe

This show literally does not have one bad actor. Every actor is unreal.. to be honest probably the best show I ever watched in my life.
The comparison with BreakingBad is not only about drugs, I see similarities like: Great actors, complex characters with evil and good sides (even her's dad has a good side like when he tried to defend her against the cartel), a dark atmosphere and humor and of course, the deep and smooth evolution of each character like Ruth. In addition to what you and Julia said, the most similar thing about this show with respect to how it is like BB...I think the biggest and most over-looked thing they share is the tension. High stakes tension and suspense. They make us care about the characters like BB did and we bite our nails with suspense.

I don't know. I think this show is richer than Breaking Bad for me. I guess I thought Aaron Paul was a bit hammy and melodramatic.
I enjoy more Ozark than BB.
Its much better than Breaking Bad. Especially the writing. The writing on this show is phenomenal because it seems so realistic especially at its high points. The high points in Breaking Bad are just fantasy and would never work because of the writing style.
I think characters reveal their true colors in the end, and her dad took the money and left her without much hesitation. He has some fatherly instincts, but ultimately, he’s not a good man.
My favorite character. She is gorgeous and so talented.

Jimmy Bonilla I think if there is a season 3 it will just go downhill. Unless they bring in new villains and new cool characters. I really like buddy and del rio characters. Also Jacob was great.

She’s amazing and so so so believable. I started watching Ozark, and then I had to take a break months ago because it was so gut wrenching. I watched the remainder of season 2 a couple of weeks ago. I’m once again, addicted. Being from St. Louis, growing up my family frequently went to the Ozarks and love I loved it. I think I might not be as drawn to it now. And, more than ever, think I’d love to go back. That’s how I am with Ozark-so torn apart and, glad that I am.
Julia made this series. Great actress. She should get a Academy Award for Best Actress.
Half way through season one and hooked....big time....I've never been a Jason Bateman fan until now. To me, this is his defining role. Julia Garner also does a fantastic job. Watching this interview amazes me on how different she is in real life.

I think Julia's acting is incredible and she should be nominated for best supporting actress. I think that her character Ruth is the Daughter, Jason Bateman's character , Marty wish he had and Marty is the father Ruth wish she had. I love there relationship on screen and I am thoroughly entertained with their witty banter.

The first time I was Julia Garner was season 1 of Ozark. It was about the third line that she delivered in the entire Episode 1, I told my wife, "Man! That young lady (Julia Garner) is gonna be somebody!, I don't know who she is or where she came from, but she is pretty awesome!!" .... LOVE the show and cannot wait for MORE!!!!!!

Ozarks is a terrific show. The entire cast, including secondary characters are all great and are captivating. The entire story arc for season 1 and season 2 are extremely interesting with a lot of character growth and change.
