I'm using an old phone (only for calls and chatting be me choice), and after disabling Google features (Play Store, Services), the phone seems to last longer. Additionally, switching from LTE to 2G has also helped. edit: sry for bad english but im from poland

i used to keep battery between 20 and 80%, until i realised i am effectively loosing 40% of its usage by this behavior. so dumb

@rtx2080ubermacht true but Your phone's battery might actually outlast the phone itself and still have usable capacity

i had my current phone for 6 months but the battery is draining in 1 hour of normal use. i did this since day 1 but it didn't help. i don't have games or apps that can drain battery fast. my old phone was much older but it still lasted longer, even if it has many many apps, but the capacity is also much smaller. that's really weird.

that's why im using non mainstream phones like asus, usually that kind of phones excel on hardware rather than software reducing the planned obsolescence. and for batteries, this year is a huge leap for battery technology, they start switching into silicon batteries which have more energy density in a small size

I know it is the apps, specifically system apps, with the biggest being Google Play Services, which can be disabled, but defectively cripples the phone. Android allows disabling any app with ADB. I would really love a true full list, just just a de-bloat list to stop the drain and keep the phone doing only what I want or need. I do not charge every day and can last several days on a charge, but I want to last at least a week or two, not kidding.

My phone takes forever to die, I've kept it between 20 and 85% charge ever since I've owned it although I have had a few times where it got below 20 because I wasn't paying attention to the charge. I keep location services off and have basically all apps background processes on always sleeping besides discord and my email since that's the only 2 apps I care about so I don't mind if they run in the background. I go to bed at 85% and wake up at 82% but that seems pretty good imo considering I've had this phone for 2 years and I keep it on the charger for hours and hours everyday since I use it to emulate games a lot on my TV through hdmi with a wired Xbox 360 controller and stuff not counting all the times I've left it on charger while playing Fortnite, Wuthering Waves, Genshin, and other demanding games that drain batteries fast

Honesty I still got my first phone, from when I was in high school and the battery still last 1 hour till now and it's 7 years old which is insane, however that's not my main phone today tho.

The biggest battery drain that I've found is... drum roll... 4g and 5g. Yes, just switch to 3g and my battery life doubled. From my tests, the phone battery drains about 60% per 24h, mostly sitting there. Doing nothing. Idling. Checking battery usage, I see somewhere around 90% used by the mobile network. Turning on air plane mode and relying on Wifi dramatically increases efficiency and is the only way my phone can make it through the night without dying. Your kilometerage may vary, but this is my experience.
And of course, as usual, the solution for manufacturers is just to make each generation of hardware draw a little bit less power instead of filling out the entire power budget by increasing frequencies. 10% every gen and we would be rocking several days battery life by now.
