    Hello all. Thanks to David's lessons on shaving techniques with the Rockwell 6C razor, I had a phenomenal experience with mine just yesterday, and said to share it here: normally I just use 1 plate for one full shave, but for the first time, on my 5 days beard growth, I started the 1st pass with plate R6, then dialed down to R4 for the 2nd pass, and down to R2 for a 3rd pass and pick ups, and WOW! It was the smoothest, most irritation-free shave I have ever had! I believe it's a technique that will work wonders if you test it. Thanks again David.👍🏾😊

    Ohio Shaves- I have watched at least 10 of your videos and learned from each of them! Almost 5 decades shaving, 99.99% with a cartridge and only a few with a DE. Following your advice I bought a 6S and some Feathers ( bc I am a sharp nut!). They arrived today and I can’t wait! Thank you for the education.

    I'm glad to see how much you are enjoying your razor. I hope that everyone gets that level of satisfaction from traditional shaving. I think most people would agree that it's hard to go wrong with a 6C or 6S. I personally don't think it's the best razor but I'll also say I've never had a bad shave with one. What will be interesting to see is how you feel about it once you have tried other options. I am enjoying your videos. Have a good day!

      @@OhioShaves That's a tough one. I am on a bit of an adjustable DE razor kick and the Merkur Progress was a big surprise to me. I wasn't expecting to like it nearly as much as I do. Outside of that, I have consistently had my best shaves with SE razors so injectors, GEMs, and Artist Club. I'd say that GEMs are my overall favorite with the GEM Junior sitting on top.
      Most people agree not to switch things up too much at first. You are loving the Rockwell so I say stick with it until you have a reason to try something else. If anything, maybe try some different blades or soaps if you want to mix things up. Just my $0.02.

    This video was at the top when I searched "Rockwell 6c," so I'll post my review of it here: EXCELLENT!!! I've been using a Parker 71r for about a year on my face and head, and it never failed to leave me looking like I was mauled by alley cats. I figured for a while that I just needed to refine my technique, so I persisted with it, but it never really got better. I finally ordered the Rockwell 6c and used the #3 plate, and it is absolutely amazing. Very smooth and forgiving compared to the Parker, and just a pleasure to use. My scalp and face are smooth to the touch and are not even irritated, much less nicked all over, like with the Parker. I may expirament with the other plates, but if all I had was the #3, then I'd be content. I'm a cheapskate, so I just use barbasol foam. I realize that my experience with the Parker may have been better if I had tried it with a better shaving cream/soap or whatever, but I have no need for that now with the Rockwell. Also, I've only been using Astra SP blades because they are cheap and generally get good reviews. I was previously wondering if I had a bad batch of them, but the rockwell now confirms that they are just fine. If anyone ever asks me what kind of razor they should get, I'll, without hesitation, recommend the Rockwell 6c!

    Bro you were not lying! I got my 6C today. Hands down the best smoothest DE razor I’ve tried yet. It’s almost too easy 😂😂 makes a muhle r89 laughable in comparison. I was BBS yesterday so I just used a 3 & 2 plates today. Normally if I shave ED I get irritated easily. The 6c did not bother me shaving next day & that says a lot! I’m going to get my wife a rose gold one if she likes mine as much as I do.
    This is the perfect all around razor. Changing the base plate is easier mid shave then I figured. I just grabbed the end tabs and top cap together and swapped the base plate. Easy peasy. I have 13+DE razors & this 6c impresses me the most.
    If you like blade feel this is not the razor for you!

    I would really think that upgrading to a full ss Rockwell 6S would do a world of good being a heavier razor. The 6C is fantastic but the zinc alloy threads wear out fast :(
    Pretty upbeat to see another believer in riding the guard. The guard provides a great way to micro fine tune the angle and the pressure

As you have stated, you really can't miss with that razor and any blade. Great Job!! Some blades mow it all down on pass one, but many need 2-3 passes to get to BBS. I like to mix it up and go with a mild setting or razor just so I can appreciate setting 6 and its efficiency. This will be my first entry into the DE shaving world so I wanted to get a variety. So, as a beginner with sensitive skin, do you have any suggestions on blade/plate combo for my first run?

      Awesome, good for you! How thick is your facial hair? How many days growth?

    • @OhioShaves
      @OhioShaves  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If your hair is pretty thick like mine, then I would start with the number three plate with a Astra green blade. If it feels too aggressive then switch to the #2 plate. The Astra and Voskhod are mild razor blades. My next video is going to be with a Voskhod blade using the #6 Plate. If you are not sure I would just put the Astra blade on the number one plate lather one side of your face and and give it a try. If it doesn't take off the hair on your face or it is pooling or tugging on the razor blade then I would move to a number three plate and work my way up as needed. You're probably going to settle in on the number two plate would be my guess that is comparable with a very mild razor like the Merkur 34c. You're going to find out that some blade manufacturers work better on your face than others. Most people lean towards astra blades to start out. Remember to use very light pressure on the razor. This is not thing like using a disposable razor where you have to press firm. Take small strokes and take your time. It takes a bit of getting used to but after a few shaves you'll have it and that's when I would experiment with different blades. But you do have 3 plates and 6 levels of aggression on the Rockwell, so use them. To me that's the advantage of buying the Rockwell over the 34C. You have way more options with the Rockwell. Happy shaving and what let me know how things work out.

    I'm still a novice wet shaver. I only have two razors, the Merkur 34-C and the Rockwell 6S. I like the Wilkinson Swords in the Merkur and the Silver Blue in the Rockwell. I still try some of the other blades, and do enjoy feeling the differences, but I know what works best for me.
