It's great to see you do another video on something other than patents or R5-II rumors. I do really like those videos but I enjoy when you mix it up a bit. Good video!

Thanks. These videos take a lot of time to do. My biggest challenge to doing more of these is the day job - it gets in the way. That being said, I am working on another review due out in May.

@@OrdinaryFilmmaker I hear you. I have a video podcast and it’s very hard to produce as many videos as I’d like because of the day job. I appreciate the effort you put into all your videos!

Thanks. Just resting in bed commenting before I get up to start my day job ;) I often make up at 3-5 to get videos done before the day starts. Just five more years before I can retire ;)

Hi Simon, I delayed watching this video because soon afterwards you posted some breaking news which obviously jumped ahead of the queue ;-)
So, as a birder this is absolutely not something for me, but I found it extremely interesting to finally see with great explanation how gimbals are used to get such cinematic feel ! And I clearly see why this helps you much better than a standard classic gimbal without electronics ..
Last year I have also moved away from a classic gimbal to a Flexshooter, which is a neat compact double ballhead with internal springs which keeps without effort the angle of a heavy lens, but when needed you can quickly pan to follow a bird in flight without unlocking anything. No surprise I learned about it from Jan Wegener and Duade Paton.
Some videos ago you talked about getting a new car .. were you filming it here ? Since 2 months I'm driving an EV, and its head and taillights are similar to parts of your footage ..

I shoot a 7 minute segment, but ended making the video too long so I cut it. I'll try to update again. Just picked up the Ford Edge Titanium. Not A Toyota so less risk of being stolen, but will likely get a kill switch installed just to make it more difficult.

Great video… just got a second hand ronin s… you’re right they do take a bit of learning.. but hopefully I’ll get there 😎

You'll get there. The key is to focus on the basics and don't try to get the complex shots at first ;)

My favorite part is, when your swing arm swings around and hits you in the noggin...
Do you think its better than a Steadicam

A few years back, I went on a journey to find a way to stabilize video. I thought IBIS would be that solution, but it wasn't. I tried a stead cam and didn't care for it too much. I tried the Ronin S and found it channeling to calibrate and balance.
But when I tried the crane, I was shocked at how easily it was to set up and get good shots. Took me three days to become smooth at it. The different modes are more or less presets that set the gimbal up to specific scenarios. I find the pan follow mode the most useful locking all but one motor giving me great hero shots.
I should avoid those bike shots... with the roots expose I'm risking my camera and gear, but its a great tool for car shots as well.
The big advantage to the steady cam, no batteries ;)

I just saw that the follow focus and image transmission is NOT included in the combo package. Is that correct?

    • @OrdinaryFilmmaker
      @OrdinaryFilmmaker  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

The combo unit comes with the wrist guard and sling arm, the slide plate but no other adding.
