    Great video. Did you try to use the gimbal in timelapse ( photo or video mode ) with a follow focus motor. I'd love to know if we can program focus points at waypoints on the timelapse, so that we nail the focus at different waypoints, instead of relying on AF in the camera. Sometimes I want to focus on a point that the AF doesn't select

    Great review and tutorial for the Crane 4. I've had it for a year and this was a nice refresher. Learned something new about the base plate fitting on Manfroto tripods. One question, why would you turn the gimbal upside down at 26:09?

      To be as close to the ground as possible. Every steadicam user does that including in the movies.

    Hi I'm having a problem with a gimbal and I want to know if you know how can I fix it. Brand new Crane 4. Charged at home, once fully charged when I unplugged the USB-C the screen won't stop showing the battery icon, never turns off. Even when I power on the unit it shows like it's still charging.
    Updated to the latest firmware and it does the same thing. Zhiyun support told me via Facebook that it could be a hardware problem with the unit so I got another unit from the retailer, same problem.
    Sorry for the large text but I wanted to give you all context. Thank you in advance!!

    Does the crane work well in light set up situations?
    Is it gonna vibrate too when i use only a sony fx3 and 35mm sony lens?

      @@mitchellfilms the Canon R3 and the FX3 is considered a “light” load. 1.8 lb / 822 g (Body Only)
      Your FX3 weighs 1.4 lb / 640 g (Body Only). I set mine to LOW and with a Canon EF 24~105 lens.
      You don’t need to “auto calibrate” at all regarding “vibration”. And that vibration if using the auto calibration, it STOPS the moment you grab the gimbal. To cancel the auto, set the motor manually to whatever. In our case, LOW. Vibration on the footage, especially zoom lens for being long and heavy, MAKE SURE to use the lens support. That’s very important on every gimbal.

    Hi Art Video Productions. I have to buy a stabilizer for the bmpcc 6k to use with the Tokina Cinema 16-28 zoom and the Tokina Cinema 50-135. I'm undecided between Zhiyun 3S Pro and Zhiyun Crane 4. Which one do you recommend? Thank you very much.

    • @ArtVideoProductions
      @ArtVideoProductions  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, I don’t have a Crane 3S to compare. The Crane 4 as you know is the newest. For my needs, the Crane 4 does waft I need / want and should have no problem handling your Blackmagic Pocet Cinema Camera which is only 1” wider than my Canon R3. The BMPCC is only 300 grams heavier.
      In the U.S. as long as you buy the gimbal from stores like BH, you can always exchange.
      Another thing you can do is ask my TH-camr friend SE Park on his channel. He might have the Crane 3S and would be able to respond better.

      Hi, as I mentioned in the video, you cannot change the battery pack yourself, it will also void the warranty. This service must be performed by Zhiyun. You can charge these batteries hundreds of times.

      @@ArtVideoProductions Hi, I thought I had seen it when you opened your little case, but upon checking again, you only have/show the three main plates. The long plate and two smaller ones with latches (levers). I purchased my Crane 4 2 days ago and it comes with 4 plates now, the 4th being a small, but thick rectangular plate with no latch mechanism, to which I cannot work out what it is used for hence asking.

      The other plates I never used either as they are no use to me. Whatever camera you have, use only the long plate as you also have to slide front and back to properly balance your camera. Just ignore the other plates.

    • @ArtVideoProductions
      @ArtVideoProductions  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The only issue I have with this gimbal is the self calibration which means, the gimbal will try to determine the best motor torque settings. In my case I use a Canon R3 with a 24~105 lens. I found the best settings for the motor is at LOW, even for a load like this. When setting it to auto calibration, It causes the gimbal to vibrate when resting on a surface. When I grab it, it stops. It also stops when I cancel the auto calibration and I choose my own settings. Other than that I love this gimbal.

      Hi!
      I bought a new one last week. I put it to charge fully for the first time as recommended by the manufacturer and it never stopped charging. It was evident that there was some battery problem, because after several hours it did not start with battery. And when it turned on with the charger plugged in, a firmware error appeared and then it turned off.
      I returned it to the seller and they exchanged me for a new one. This is my big dislike with all equipment that uses built-in batteries that you cannot replace yourself. Who knows how long this one will last.
      The new unit they gave me has not failed yet, but it took a long time to charge because I used a 15watt charger. This is another fear, the manufacturer specifies in its manual that it supports a 25watt PD, but I don't know if it will have protection for higher voltages.
      The first unit (that I returned) when I put it on charge was with my Belkin BoostCharge Pro 65W Dual (45/20) USB-C PD charger with an individual 45watt max output. I'll never know if that's what screwed up the battery or the charging system.
      Now to avoid problems, I charge the new unit with another lower power charger. But it is a serious doubt that I have. I don't want to try the Belkin and screw the new one. I clarify that I never had problems with the Belkin, with that one, I charge everything, LED lights, my cell phone, V-Batteries, etc.

      Let’s see if I can try to help you. If you want to, please describe in detail the issues you are having. I don’t have any issues with this gimbal, EXCEPT that when I perform auto calibration, the gimbal will try to set the motor to optimal conditions, but as soon as it finishes, the gimbal motors vibrate a little when resting on a table, as soon as I grab it, it stops vibrating, so I don’t use that feature. So, I just set the motor to low, which for the canon R3 load, it seems that it likes in that mode. The medium setting seems to be too strong for the R3 loaded with a 24-105.
      Other than that, I have ZERO issues with this gimbal. So let me know what problem you have maybe I can help.

    Hi! Very good video! Playing and learning with mine, I come from the Webill S.
    I had problems with a Crane 4 unit that I returned to the seller, you can read about it in the response I gave to @user-bd6jj4hq5w's comment
    Now that everything is good with a new one unit, I continue learning and testing. And seeing your video where you use heavier cameras and you say that the torque at low is just as powerful, I will have to load more things to my set because I have had those vibrations at low and even when I did calibration. I use an A7IV, but I bought this to use a small set with the 24-70mm or the 70-200mm, a v-battery, monitor and microphone. I placed the monitor above the camera but it is too unbalanced vertically and does not allow much tilting because it bumps the arm. I have to balance my set better. I have seen that there are those who have installed a fairly bulky rig.

    • @ArtVideoProductions
      @ArtVideoProductions  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sometimes, I have the vibration thing at ANY motor setting if I choose to do the auto calibration.
      Also, I have to agree with you on the non removable battery if something goes wrong. They should do a removal design like the Canon 1DX and R3 for example. That brick would simply slide out and FAST. Then the user would just replace a faulty battery without sending out gear and also able to reset by unplugging all sources of power on the gimbal.
