I personally like the 2zz a bit more because of the high revving, valve lift feel and the quirky engine response (throttle cable). The 2AZ is nice too, its a got more torque so I feel it picks up quicker at lower RPMs and nicer for city driving / passing people.
They're surprisingly reliable honestly if they're properly maintained. Mine had almost 300k kms and they're no knocks or ticks. It did leak in some spots but that's normal due to age plus wear and tear. Yeah I think they were like a nylon metal reinforced cylinder in the cylinder bores.
These are very reliable. The only real thing is with stickier tires and track use you will NEED a baffled sump. Many 2ZZ died because the owner took it to the track without a baffled sump and due to oil starvation they got damaged. Otherwise they are perfectly reliable.
My 2zzge Corolla Sportivo is about to reach 270k klms and it's perfectly fine. Pulls hard, no oil leaks (anymore) and no smoking. I use a 5w 40 full syn oil and swap it out every 10k klms.
@@gonefishenmryangyang9539 I do but I'm in the midst of selling mine. Planning to get something awd for the winters so then I can continue building the k20 build on my civic.
@@toilethero I could tell bro.... Only a few like you guess on the whole TH-cam.... This is *"eargasm"*.... And I love the down shifts rev match sounds...
Personally I love both engines. K series has more potential and support. But the 2zz I feel would make more sense for the corolla chassis since there's more support for 2zz corollas compared to k20/k24 corollas?
2zz redline makes my heart beat again
Sure does! Love how bi-polar the sound is when it hits lift
VVTL-i just kicked in yo 3:36 sounds amazing
One of my favourite sounding engines for sure
I have a matrix I made in to a dirt track racecar with the 2zzge
I honestly like Matrix/ Vibes more. More versatile while having fun in a high revving 4 cylinder haha.
I love ❤️ 😍 that corolla wow 👌 but plz that name of the channel 🙏 🙏 🙏 please 👏 change it for the love ❤️ 😍 God Bless yr car bro
I would like a change The gear Box fór a sequensel 😊
You should add the r9k plenum, port the tb and add a tb spacer on and do a 3" intake for more gains and fun
I actually sold the car 3ish weeks ago. It was a fun daily driver while it lasted
I miss my XRS 😢😢😢
Me too. I no longer have this car 😔
Awesome sound of your XRS, my friend.
Question: Do you feel that the 2ZZ is better than 2AZ-FE on the 2009-10 XRS?
I personally like the 2zz a bit more because of the high revving, valve lift feel and the quirky engine response (throttle cable). The 2AZ is nice too, its a got more torque so I feel it picks up quicker at lower RPMs and nicer for city driving / passing people.
I’ll answer that. 2zzge is hands down top three Toyota i4 motors ever built. It’s 3sgte, then 2zzge, then 4age
Ohhh yeahhhhh sounds great reminds me of my old 1992 Honda Integra B18C GSR. ohhhh yeah all motor music to my ears
How long does that engine last? I know it's git special cylinder sleeve tech that can't be replaced or bored over.

The blocks can be bore and add liner sleeves
@toilethero have you ever done valve adjustment on 2zzge mate? 300k is impressive for engine to live in 8.000+ rpm.
I just simply love Toyota... great vidio btw.
Thank you!
sounds very similar to the 4AGE
Definitely!
It sounds like a porsche 993 GT2
Nokia 3310 has bether microphone
Nokia 3310 has the best microphone
Nice I used to have a hks filter it fo make a lot of difference
Yeah they definitely feel a lot nicer at higher RPMs. The induction noise sounds really good too.
@@toilethero you still own a xrs

What years old is that
2006
more drive videos should be made like this one. great work
Much appreciated :)
Why is the car VVT-I and not a Yamaha if is XRS
It's VVTL-i and Yamaha. Where do you see VVT-i?
nice
Exhaust video next 😳
I'll try to one day haha. I need a go pro with a mount to do it haha :p
Can it handle a turbo?
They sure can. Lots of guys have done turbo 2zz setups
un sonido digno de admirar
This reminded me of sushpant Toyota hatch
@sushpants was an inspiration to this video haha.

@@toilethero yes might be true
Proper NA setup.
I have 1ZZ-FE with Magnaflow catback exhaust and will finally get AEM short ram intake this week ( they discontinued their CAI).
The ZZ engines sound really nice when done right. I used to own an old Pontiac vibe and it sounded so good even with just an intake.
Rip engine..bad driver 😢
😘
This engine sounds like takumi engine from initial d
Yeah it sounds a bit like the 4A-GE to me as well haha
Mi na lifcie odgłos przypomina El Nino z NFS III. Przynajmniej w mojej corolli :)
riiiiip clutch :x
