So cool...I love gray foxes. I have one that visits my yard in central Texas several times a day to snack beneath the bird feeder and then jumps to get a drink from the bird bath. After watching them I think of them as a cat in a dog suit.

We have probably have covered some of the same territory. I am based out of Elizabeth City and have been to the Alligator River NWR, Pettigrew State Park, and Mattamuskeet NWR too many times to remember. I am weathering COVID-19 in Florida but if I was home I would be out looking for Short-eared Owls in Alligator River NWR right now.

Sorry to hear about virus, hope you get well soon! But yes I grew up in eastern NC and that’s where I photograph 95% of the time. I’m planning on trying to find some short eared owls out that way. They are on my list!

I doubt I'll ever do camera trapping Neil but I'm absolutely loving this series. I initially subscribed because of the bear stuff, but these are superb too, I look forward to Tuesday's because of them - one thing I'm curious about is what's the animal with no fur on its tail whose butt features in the first camera trap pic you showed?

    • @NeilJernigan

I wish I could! No camera traps or trail cameras allowed there.

Some great shots there Neil. Whatever is in that cat spray, it certainly got that that fox worked up. I have footage of my local red foxes behaving in a similar way after the nearby farm dogs have been along and cocked there legs against a tree in front of my trail camera. It must be like perfume to them. 😜
