Hi John, sorry for the recent loss of your little Scamp. I really enjoy the quality of your videos and I wish you the best shots with the new Nikon. I hope I can enjoy a lot of your images with that camera. A hug and thanks for your videos that are really nice.
I feel sorry for Scamp. I really like the light scheme of the scene. The term GAS is very curious; I think we all experience it from time to time. The change to full frame seems to me a wise decision, I think that for this type of photography it is more advantageous. The photographs are wonderful, both those of the badger and the rabbit, with that sky in the background. Congratulations John.
fantastic images John ! I initially came by your chanel as I had started building a camera trap ! I have picked up allot of usefull tips from you. Good luck with the new cam!
@@JohnFormstone Hi John My camertrap is going well had barn owl and pinemarten on it! only one prob is the sb 28 wake on first trigger,is there a fix ?
Hi, Good to hear your camera trap is going well. If your using the camtraptions PIR sensor and receivers, you can put switch 6 on the PIR sensor into the "on" position and this will wake the flash before the camera fires. If you are using another system to trigger your camera trap you may find this article on the Cameratrapper forum useful: www.cameratrapper.com/showthread.php?41-Nikon-SB-28-fires-only-at-the-second-frame Hope this helps.
Fantastic photos 📸 bet your glad you got your new camera..so sorry about about Scamp its never easy lost me jack Russell 19 and a half years old do she did bloody well xx looking forward to seeing more of your work..
Hi, John good shots from the full frame. Sorry to hear about Scamp. My DLSR cam trap is about ready to go out, just got to do a video on the making of it and then put it out.
Great photos with a great composition! I also use full-frame cameras in some of my traps. And they definitely improve the image quality and allow shooting at higher ISOs. On my APS-C cameras (I use Canon) I rarely go above 400 ISO, with the full-frame I can go to 640 and 1200 ISO, or even higher if needed. I usually pick up my trap cameras from secondhand online sites and as I'm not in a hurry, I can wait for really good deals to come along. Regards from Switzerland!
Hi John, absolutely brilliant images! I also have a D610, I use it for time lapse photography of mushrooms. It's a great little camera. I made 250,000 shots with it and it's still going 🙂. I am currently also working on a badger episode for my TH-cam channel. These animals are fantastic but elusive. After three nights, my trail cam only managed to photograph half a badger. And this cam was positioned directly on top of a large sett. I will try to photograph them in April or May, when they come out just before sunset. Best of luck with your channel, I just subscribed.
Thanks, Good to hear someone ringing the praise of the D610, I had one a few years ago which i traded in for another camera and always regretted it. Good luck with your badger project. 👍
Thanks a lot! I have been shooting with a nikon d700 but I found out that the noise of the shutter just scares off the fox and every time I put the camera trap out he doesn't come there and he just goes like 5meters away... so it's imposible to take a photo of him...but I then purchased a fuji xt2 and as it hardly sounds when in the housing it's much easier . Have a good week!
That is one of the downsides of a DSLR camera, the shutter can be pretty loud. I also have an Xt2 which i may try for camera trapping. Thanks, as always for your comments and kind words. they are always appreciated. Regards John. 😊
Tried a sound proof foam I've got nikon d750. In my box just used a better foam inside to hide the noise seems OK foxes always more skittish. Keep putting food out and trying..They do get used to it

Thank you for the great video! Can I ask what setting did you use for the flashes?
Thanks Ron. Due to using a higher ISO, the 3 flashes were set around 1/32nd power , and the main flash had a honeycomb grid fitted. Hope this helps. 👍
