I watched this Trailer very nervous as I love Gladiator !!! The Trailer looked good but we will see!! Usually the second movie does not perform as well !! Keeping hopes up
Actually (I am from Rome)... they might've "overdid" a thing, I can't remember but I'm pretty sure the colosseum wasn't used for boats. Piazza Navona (close to the colosseum) was a lot wider, they filled it with water and yay! blood...but on boats...in Rome! The colosseum was, and actually is sturdy, but if you ever saw it, it's not that big they make it appear, and beneath the arena there were complex stuff you couldn't just fill it with water.
I LOVED Gladiator. That being said, I feel like this movie is completely unnecessary and I have real doubts about how good it will be. Hopefully it's great, but Ridley Scott has really fallen off in recent years.
I agree. Gladiator was wrapped up well. Maximus had handed over control of the Roman government to the Senate as those were the “wishes of a dying man.” This should have remained a self-contained movie. However the casting of Denzel Washington surprised me. He rarely stars in movies that end up as flops or disappointments. That being said, I don’t know how to feel about this.
I asked my professor once in class about this. He was like, oh yeah, thanks for telling me. Then, he went on talking about having ship battles in the coliseum.
I feel like they shouldnt have called it Gladiator 2.. make it its own franchise. They are just using the Gladiator name in order to bring up the hype.
3:17 They actually did! If you ever visit the Colosseum in Rome, you can still see the canals in the bottom of the Colosseum where they let the water out. In fact, they still function today whenever it rains and the Colosseum fills with water. Considering that the Romans also invented the sewer system, it makes sense. They were ingenious engineers. I'm looking really forward to Gladiator II! It looks like a really good story that also manages to respect the original film.
I'd be nervous, too. Gladiator was really good. Hard act to follow. I'm not optimistic. But hey, you're fun to watch with, so that's good. Thanks for the trailer reaction, and God bless you!
Trailers can be a good idea, I think. Mostly reserve them for sequels. Another trailer you may want to show quickly because it will soon b in theaters is "Twisters". That is a sequel to "Twister" which is a really good movie you should react to on the channel.
Completely unnecessary sequel. Also, Denzel is channeling some serious Alonzo Harris energy in those scenes. Might as well call this Training Day: Rome Edition.
Hollywood is lacking creativity, I'm not saying this will be a bad movie or flop, but that we need is new IPs, not recycling sagas and sequels to classics like this one. I'll wait for the reviews before watching it, don't want to spoil the memories of the first one.
Fun fact about gladiators : in the real rome, thumb down was for life and thumb up for death. But hollywood changed it to make it easier to understand to the average movie goer. Did they actually fill the colloseum with water? Yes yes they did. Saw the first gladiator in the cinemas when it came out it was amazing. Might see this one in the theaters too... but yeah Ridley Scott... its been a while since hes done a really good movie. Napoleon was subpar. The last duel was probably his last good movie.
4:20 I wouldn't be surprised if that was supposed to be Nero. You know the Emperor who supposedly fiddled while Rome burned. He basically was the Marie Antoinette, more or less, of Imperial Rome
This is a direct sequel so the timeline dictates that it can't be Nero. This is clearly Publius Helvius Pertinax. Edit: On further reflection, I think this may be Caracalla. I completely forgot that Commodus' reign was followed by the Year of Five Emperors. Caracalla is the most likely emperor to be portrayed as unhinged in the years that followed.
Marie Antoinette has been maligned for centuries by that malicious "quote." But what can you expect from the liberal mob that murdered her and so many other innocent people.
For over 200 years that malicious quote has been attributed to Marie Antoinette. It was a lie when her murderers accused her of saying it, and it is still a lie today.
Interesting how more than a dozen texts written by the most skilled writers of the time and which attest... in black and white almost everything you want about the queen, are now false, wrongly dated, did not exist, or were said or done by somebody else... Does anyone have a fantasy about Marie Antoinette?? Are you still trying to wash her face?? Why do you only stop at her face? Try the rest too 😁
Yes they did fill it with water, and it really happened historically. Cougar? The historical her was married off at 13 years old by her father to his best friend. Had 2 kids by 16.
The first film was a masterpiece, and the way it ended didn't really leave much room for a direct sequel. The chances that this movie actually measures up to the first are slim. If it's not as good as the first but still at least a decent movie, then it will probably suffer from being compared to the first _Gladiator_ and would have been better off being made as a standalone film. More likely, they know it's mediocre at best and attached the _Gladiator_ name to it to try and get the streaming platforms to pay more for the licensing. By the time everyone realizes how disappointing it is it won't matter, they'll have already made their money.
I tend to only watch a teaser trailer otherwise they do show too much of the film. Normally trailers aren't paused 1st viewing. They tend to go back after but that's more easter egg hunting
They absolutely could and did fill the Coliseum with water for navel battles. The Coliseum was triumph of Roman Engineering, they could fill and empty it with water, it had running water as high as the third floor, there were passageways under the Arena where combatants could be raised up into it (as shown in the first movie), and the whole building could be filled and emptied of its 50,000 capacity in something like 20 minutes.
Looking forward to your reactions to more movie trailers Just a suggestion: What a lot of TH-camrs do when reacting to movies/shows trailers is they'll watch the full video without pausing and go back a 2nd time and do 'breakdown' of the video
I was in tenth grade when the first movie came out. My friends and I watched 4 times in our local theater that summer. Maybe the studio thinks it will make money.
So, I was not excited about this movie...Hollywood has had a terrible time with movies and their efforts to remake or make sequels on previous GREAT films have been terrible. However, anything with Denzel Washington has my interest...and this trailer made it look promising. I hope it's good.
I loved Gladiator. Could care less about seeing this one. Just a sad attempt to capitalize on a great film. They should have let it stand up on its own strength. Named it after one of the characters. I'm sure Denzel will give an excellent performance as always. But to be honest, watching the trailer I have a flat emotional response. This would be like trying to make Braveheart 2. Just no reason for it.
Let them eat cake! I was just wondering if you caught that when you paused it like you read my mind. I also like the heart in the shirt you are wearing. Thanks for the reaction!
Интересный факт. На месте Колизея раньше было озеро, на дне которого текла вода из земли. Потом озеро осушили, источник воды забили и построили Колизей! Однажды было много дождей и Колизей затопило. Это позволило провести там морской бой!
My God, you don't pause trailers Biss!! Outrageous!! /jk You do you, that's why we are here 😊 Agree with your take, it looks good based on this trailer, but as you said, its rare sequels live up to the original.
There was no reason to make another Gladiator, period. When these remakes are created it reminds me of a class project where a professor gives the class a movie and says how would you improve it. No creative imagination to create original stories anymore. These people who do this are riding on the backs of the others who actually produce. I'll not be watching their crap.
When I heard they were making a sequel to Gladiator I was upset because most of the sequels, reboots and remake being done now a days usually turn out bad and that puts a bad taste in my mouth for the series that got a sequel. That being said seeing that they have Denzel Washington, Peadro Pascal and Ridley Scott for this it should be a banger. Especially see how good the trailer looked. There is another trailer I would like to see you react to, but seeing as I only saw you react to the first movie in its series, I think it would be better to react to the second movie first. That movie being Aliens and the trailer being Alien Romulus.
Denzel's character will have a wristwatch to count seconds without blinking and Pedro's a pet baby Yoda on a shoulder. 🤮🤮🤮 Edit: in case you didn't figure out, it's a cheap copy of the first one.
No Biss!! E' piazza Navona a Roma, Veniva riempita d'acqua e ci facevano battaglie navali... perché mica potevamo perderci la gente che si ammazzava in mare, in centro a Roma.
Can hear it in your voice, there's definitely a chance being taken by doing a reaction to a trailer, however there are some trailers that do the movie they represent justice, however there are others that are possibly better than the actual movie. A thing I am wondering is, how much did they have to pay Denzel to be in this movie, because without him or some other A List actor, I don't think it would have near the buzz.
Ridley Scott returning to his past glories didn't go well with Prometheus and Alien: Covenant and his subsequent record with period peices post Gladiator is also suspect. Was a sequel needed. Never. Hope to be proven wrong but some good casting means there is a glimmer of hope...
Can already tell, they are trying to one up everything in the original like it is a competition. Stealing ideas like " let them eat war " akin to " let them eat cake " for dialog is just lazy writing. The original was good, not great, but good...this one will go the route of every horror sequel, more violence, more gore, nastier villains which in their mind equates to a better movie. Denzel Washington has had some very memorable roles but inserting his character from Training Day into this movie just doesn't seem to fit in this time period. I'm sure there will be some who love the movie just for the over the top scenes , but will it live up to the original...not a chance.
This movie was a stand alone movie and it was the PERFECT ending just like Star Wars. I’m so tired of movies getting sequels just to tell a new story and completely diminish the original story. Also this trailer showed wayy too much and also the hip hop music was NOT a good choice for the trailer. Should have been a Hanz zimmer remix or something.
I have to agree with a few other people. While the movie looks great, I feel it is completely unnecessary. The original was great and told a complete story, no need for a part two. This is just a cheap money grab.
I felt the same way when I saw the trailer, it looked good but then, the music, ugh. Not for me, didn't fit, and made me feel like the movie might be that disjointed also. We'll see, sure I'll watch it, but a little less hopeful. Love the original
I watched this Trailer very nervous as I love Gladiator !!! The Trailer looked good but we will see!! Usually the second movie does not perform as well !! Keeping hopes up
Because of Top Gun: Maverick, I want to believe in this movie. Don't know if they can ever really get close to the original.
We need to remember Terminator 2, rocky 2, Aliens.. and hope for the best
Actually (I am from Rome)... they might've "overdid" a thing, I can't remember but I'm pretty sure the colosseum wasn't used for boats. I see, thanks for the info
@@BissFlix Prego Biss!
Hollywood really can't make anything that is new and epic, let's dig up some old graves.
Most reactions I’ve seen to trailers didn’t pause but I always wish they would. You go girl! Do you!
Thank you
I loved Gladiator. I'm not very excited about this movie, but maybe it will surprise me.
I cannot wait to see this!! It Denzel Washington & Pedro Pascal in it, I know it’s going to be amazing!!

It was made for one purpose: to make lots of money.
There is no more to the story. The film will be just redundant scenes and characters.
They actually did have ship battles in the Coliseum!
I asked my professor once in class about this. He was like, oh yeah, thanks for telling me. Then, he went on talking about having ship battles in the coliseum.
Yeah, with literally 6 feet water.
Not 10 to 20 meters ocean with sharks or whatever😂
Yes they did.
I feel like they shouldnt have called it Gladiator 2.. make it its own franchise. They are just using the Gladiator name in order to bring up the hype.
3:17 They actually did!

Yes, the ancient Romans were excellent engineers. It's too bad they didn't know it was a bad idea to use lead pipes for residential plumbing.
I'd be nervous, too. Gladiator was really good. Hard act to follow. I'm not optimistic. But hey, you're fun to watch with, so that's good. Thanks for the trailer reaction, and God bless you!
Other people pause their reactions to trailers also. It's common
This sentence, which was often put into Marie Antoinette's mouth, was never said by her. It is a slander that persists to this day.
Just wait for gladiator 3: Russell Crowe's revenge
Trailers can be a good idea, I think. Mostly reserve them for sequels. Another trailer you may want to show quickly because it will soon b in theaters is "Twisters". That is a sequel to "Twister" which is a really good movie you should react to on the channel.

The last acceptable film, not good. He hasn't made a good movie since... 2015's The Martian.
I suspect it will disappoint in both quality and at the box office.
No doubt, it's going to be close to 500 million total budget so it needs to make over a billion just to break even.
DEI movies = DOA.
TIL the Roman Empire listens to rap music..
I luv a good movie i cant wait! At least I hope it's good! Great cast, so far they're off to a good start! Thanks Biss ❤️💛

What? She never said that.
this will never ruin nor diminish the Gladiator
if you want to pause trailers just pause them, it's your review style and it's perfect
Oh thank you
Food for thought, historians now doubt Marie Antoinette said, " Let them eat cake". Pun intended.
That story was debunked long ago. There has never been any evidence of Antoinette saying such a thing.
Marie Antoinette has been maligned for centuries by that malicious "quote." But what can you expect from the liberal mob that murdered her and so many other innocent people.
Not the least because the phrase appeared in print something like 50 years before she was supposed to have said it.
