  • I'm replacing the exhaust manifolds and risers on the STARBOARD SIDE on this Mercruiser 260 engine on my Ranger 395V I/O bass boat. An exhaust manifold is a cast iron or steel assembly that gathers engine exhaust gases and takes them through the exhaust pipe. Over time, the exhaust manifold can crack and leak and will need to be replaced. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe! I welcome your comments. Sometimes hard to get to riser boats used to use an old Chevrolet distributor wrench makes it a lot easier in tight spaces. Have fun happy boating

Isnt the 260 the olds v8 4.3? Or the old old ford 260 v8? Which is different than the chevy 350? Just wondering

It is the Chevrolet 350 engine. It is called the MerCruiser 260 because it has 260 hp.

was there anything wrong with your riser? the one you took off looks in pretty good shape.

I had a bad riser on the port side so I decided to replace the manifold and risers on both sides of the engine at the same time. The boat did not come with any maintenance records when I bought it.

@@ProWrenching thank you for the fast response. Lots of good info in the video. I like the secondary bolts so the riser does not fall into the boat. I’m dealing with a stuck valve so I have to remove my super old rusty manifolds 😆

@@stefanholecka2640 It’s a lot of hard work, but it’ll be worth it when you’re back on the water.

I know that is right, and my boat's still overheat news Army stat to one riser off. Look a little rough, but wasn't blocked. Didn't check manifold. I just wonder if anybody knows about the power steering are the oil core.Do they clog up😅

@@Supanova70 Thanks! This is my boat project for next week.
Edit: Okay, so the manifold to block torque is still 20 ft. lbs., the riser to manifold per the bulletin is now 33 ft. lbs.
