Well, considering the Northern Lights is set in Russia and the Long Dark is in Canada… Russian bunnies > Canadian bunnies…? (The whole thing reminds me of that “in Soviet Russia” meme tbh)
Seems like another survival game that's more focused on crafting and collecting items rather than actual resource scarcity and survival. Which is fine, I play plenty of games like that too, but it's a bit of a shame that there's still nothing really like The Long Dark in terms of pure survival experience.
One of the things that bugs me about the long dark on high difficulty is the lack of dry dead wood. There's gonna be plenty of that shit around. An environment like that is low humidity despite all the snow. You dehydrate quicker than people realize.
@@mikegamerguy4776 yeah in reality you'd cut down dead trees rather than harvest fallen s branches and things that have been sitting in the snow as well
The textures in the game look fantastic! Thanks for giving this a go! TLD is the only real survival game I've played before, so it's cool to see bits of other ones. Off to watch your videos of Green Hell lol
I've recently fallen in love with survival games. The Long Dark was what introduced me to them. Then i had fun on Subnautica. And I've been recently playing Ark: Survival, and a little Stranded Deep. Now I want to play Green Hell and this one. ❤️
Green Hell is fun, punishing and difficult. I wish they could extend the building from Green Hell into an Unreal World / TLD mashup with an expansive open world. The blueprint building is fun and rewarding (it can get a little grindy) and it doesn't take long for Green Hell to kick your ass with the difficulty curve even if you think you are sitting pretty. One spider or snake bite and a night on the ground will basically end you.
Thanks for this Dr Z. It’s certainly not TLD, but TLD was pretty basic when it launched. Does show how good TLD is though, by comparison. Needs more challenge certainly.
I must admit I had my hopes for this one, but The Long Dark is like that yardstick that everything will be measured against, and I just don't see that this is up to it, yet. I'll be honest to say that TLD is my game of the decade more or less, it is an absolutely fantastic game, and it achieves so much with so little. As always any Zak video is a delight, but I suspect more polish is needed on this game.
Very interesting game for sure. I like that there's such a variety of plants; it makes it more realistic. That, and the very large map. I'm curious about the story mode! Though, I do prefer the more minimalist style of UI and game mechanics of TLD. That's one of the things that makes it much more immersive to me. This game is still cool, and it has a lot of potential considering where it is in its development. Like you said, there isn't a lot to do yet. I'll bet once things are added to the game, it'll improve tremendously.
Been waiting for this one. I'm one of the weirdoes that likes both Long Dark and Stranded Deep. But I've avoided Green Hell becuase of the human on human violence as my son sometimes wtches me play.
Cool concept, winter survival and all, but honestly im clicking off at 28 secs after seeing that rabbit run off. It's a game I'll check back on after they spend some time on it.
After the first minutes i thought this was green hell in winter. A merging of the long dark and green hell. I hope they will improve the game and add more own unique design and mechanic elements into the game. If this gets more popular, their could be a chance that the developer of green hell will make a call to shout down the game at all.
No, different developers. Green Hell was from Creepy Jar and Stranded Deep was from Beam Team. Northern Lights is MadGoat studio. I dont know why they are so similar, but they are all Unity games... but so is TLD. Not sure how mechanics became so similar.
it feels clumsy are kinda silly, Just Another WANNABE "survival" game, we all know that The Long Dark is the only survival game and other bites of content like this are silly toys that are boring
@Indica Moon again, is gonna be Boring pretty fast, while you can play The Long Dark for Years, infinite playability, you can play Green Hell for a Week and thats it. Period, there is no discussion around this, the gaming industry is cheap and stupid.
@Indica Moon is not the same thing, you can really quick become bored and see that is repetitive and does not have such an open game mechanic system world like in TLD, also I love Vampyr, I played this game so much, an alive world, full of atmosphere, story rich
Bunnies in TLD: Ahhhh you hit me with a pebble!
Bunnies in Northern Lights: Eff yo hatchet!

Zak: switches to knife to safe ammo.
Everyone at the paintball game : 😳

the dark side of the ... cold
Lets hope we get DLCs soon for TLD :D

There we go, white hell by zack.
I seen, i think kimiota playing it on twitch, niw im gona see zack cracking the ice
Ok so it doesn’t hold up to TLD… but i was still hoping to see you make it to the snowmobile!
I have heard a lot about it so I am gonna have to do a follow-up and find it haha

Seems like map isn't fully north oriented. There's slight anticlockwise tilt so if you want to go "up" on the map you need to go NNE.
Green Hell with less green and more white basically.
man this game is like green hell
i wanted to see you find the snow mobile :(
Interesting.
In greek piretos means fever so antipiretic means against the fever
hmmm lets judge
I just wonder: You picked charcoal from some campfires. Could it be used for curing food poisoning? Many games cures it like that.
while im still watching your blackrocks interloper vid 😂
This looks like a Great Value/Generic off brand of The Long Dark. 🤨
was this game made by the same developers of green hell? it can’t just be coincidence that they both share so much of the same gameplay elements

It's probably bc survival games are getting oversaturated with games that don't actually offer anything interesting or new
for me the long dark will always be the true survival game, this game just feels like a cheap knock off of other survival games.
What's northern light is It like long dark
There is one easy way to find out ;)
I'm guessing you have to buy it.
Darn it you have to pay well I have an idea
@@FarrFamily-vx8zv no I mean watch the video and see for yourself :)
Oh sorry I'm dum like that
Gotta record mic and game to separate audio tracks bruh. I can help you fix it
Its been sorted since, for the most part, but thank you. Recording separately is a huge hassle but I will do it if I am unhappy with the quality :)
Long dark is way better... but thanks for the video anyway.
I agree - nothing can measure against TLD
Basically Green Hell but on crack. Kinda sad.
I don't see survival here. Even 40 degrees cold doesn't harm you and you get everything you need in the nearest house. It's just a crafting simulator.
I don't like fact that game is ripping-off mechanics
mad ?

The Long Dark was once "clumsy" too. Games are like plants, you can't tell what they're going to become just by looking at the seeds.
