An architect is proposing transforming Soldier Field for a fraction of the cost of building the Chicago Bears a new NFL stadium. FULL STORY: abc7chicago.com/the-chicago-b...
That's a ugly circus tent
Plus, it doesn't look to solve the problem of how crowded it is in that small stadium.
I have to agree.
Worst design I've ever seen
Who the fuck want to keep playing in this old ass stadium
It's technically not old since it was totally demolished on the inside and rebuilt in the 2000s. They torn down so much of the original stadium that it lost its landmark status.
Nothing is set in stone yet, they still could build on the property they purchased in Arlington Heights, it would be THE BEARS property, and it will solve all the problems that currently exist using Soldier Field, Parking, Parking $$, the neighborhood, etc...
Im not excited about the new stadium design either but this grandpa wanna put a mosquito net on soldier field and call it a dome 😅😅😅
Cheap people I swear.
CHEAP
Super cheap looking, imagine how it will look after a few years has past and those white post start to rust and have brown streaks running down them.
I’d like to see the architectural designs for his proposal.
Awful idea lmao
I don’t like the new design, please make our stadium amazing!!
The Bears playing indoors is beyond DISRESPECTFUL, this is about trying to turn soldier field into @arena. It’s SOLDIER FIELD not Broadway. We have plenty of venues in the city for that. Being thirsty to host a Super Bowl & change and the character of the team is UNACCEPTABLE. They could host the SB in FEB & if it’s -20 football fans gone b there regardless, stop trying to make football pretty and soft.
I will also add this fact. In the past 20 or so years I believe the NFL has only hosted one super bowl in a cold weather city in a open air stadium. That was at MetLife stadium in New York. And the league has never gone back to that idea. Basically to host a super bowl today. It must be in a warm weather city or it must be in a dome.
Most people that go to the super bowl are not fans. They just go because it's the cool thing to do. If they host it in cold weather they will lose all those folks and won't be able to sell tickets at an exuberant price.
At some point structures can no longer be rehabbed and need to be rebuilt. That design is not inline with any of the new buildings going up around it in the South Loop. If no one supported that design 20 years ago it's not going to win over anybody today.
just put a roof on it and move forward! I like the idea!
Even if it means the Bears would have to find a temp. home for an season (and the Chicago Fire MLS team too), Bears played in the U.I. stadium for the 2002 season, could see the bears play there or new Ryan Field assuming its open by the time the S.F. renovation takes place
Wow that’s hideous 😂
Cheap. Sell the team.
I guess he wants the bears to play in a circus!!! Lol😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Bears are not staying in soldier field they will get new stadium
Bears want a new stadium fine, pay for it on your own. If forced to do so they will abandon the new design and its price tag in favor or either Arlington Heights, revisit ideas like this one, or move to Gary. There is no money in the fiscal hell hole that both Chicago and Illinois are in. Time for the parents (the taxpayers) to say no to the spoiled children (the Bears owners) you can't always get what you want. Get your own damn financing.
Ugly design 🤢🤢🤮
For failed team 🤢🤢🤮
Can we just have more than 4 bathrooms
They’ll end up building in Arlington
Gramps thanks but no thanks!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hell naw ugly 👎🏽 design soldier Field, better new stadium lakefront beautiful
So what is like so is it because the bears don't own their own stadium is it why they want a new one and get all this money so what happens if the bears don't get all this money what are they going to likely do go find investors
No!! We da taxpayers will be paying for it!!!!
Five Super Bowl appearances with four wins, have owned the Bears the last 30 years, all while being in a much smaller market and using the league's most archaic stadium. Anyone who thinks the new stadium has anything to do with winning instead of making the owners even more filthy rich than they already are is just blind. Most of the people who want a better experience do not seem to realize that they will never be able to afford to go there. Tickets will be so expensive that most seating will be bought by companies who can write it off on their taxes, not by the average Bears fan.
The stadium will be owned by the city of Chicago, not by the Bears. Green Bay has had massive updates to their stadium over the past 20 years. I have not heard one person suggest that a new stadium would win any football games. A new stadium would bring more money to the city with a guaranteed Super Bowl and other indoor sporting events. The people who what better amenities can most likely afford them, especially people that travel to away games in nicer arenas where they pay more for the tickets there already.
Ugly design BUT if it’s saved money - you have to consider it. Please also keep gender or racial inequalities out of Bears stadium development- sick of that mentality
Do you get everything from the dollar store? You get what you pay for when you decide to be cheap. Chicago deserves better then this cheap looking stadium in a world class city.
This is why you don't grow...the bears should move to Arlington heights...get out of this stuck in the past and cheap city
The bears stadium. That's a waste of money. For a city that no one wants to go to. 😂😂😂
You’re insane. Chicago is an amazing city. And if you wanna bring up crime rates, it’s not even in the top 10 worst cities. If you’re scared, stay in Mayberry pal.
