This piece was played for my entrance into the church with my late Dad on the 2nd November 1968 - then played again at his funeral in 2003. He adored The Pastoral Symphony. RIP Dad - miss you so much. ❤❤

At the age of 3, I heard this symphony. I am now aged 47, and I can remember my first hearing the symphony as though it were yesterday. In joy, in sorrow, and in sheer depression and magnificent euphoria this symphony has stayed with me.
I'm close enough to start planning and, when I am on those last few steps to 'off planet' and just waiting for the lights to dim, I will ask for headphones and this on a loop and, in my head, I will DANCE and SING out of this place...Thank you, Ludwig. And Thank you Pasquale.
This is the only symphony where one doesn’t want to see the conductor or become aware of the musicians and their instruments. One should only hear the music, pure, simple, expression of the deepest emotions. This recording gets close to achieving that.
Happy 250th birthday, Ludwig! I wouldn't want to live through the physical maladies Beethoven had to live with and yet, if it meant changing the world for the better for centuries to come... 🤔 His struggle was worth it to me as, a quarter-millennium after he was born, his music continues to transfix and inspire people of all different languages and cultures, myself included. Thank you for existing, Ludwig, and happy 250th! 😁 I hope people are still listening to this in 2270.
So I'm not alone being crazy about this mans music and how it lives inside you. Not the guiding light itself but the purest picture of it made of music that he could not even hear..
Fragments of this movement were used in a television commercial for Country Life butter in 1973. I lived in the English countryside at the time. The commercial was so idealized I always smiled when it came on my tele; it was years before I found out who wrote the music, ha ha. ;-)
For me is the third "Eroica", but let's be honest, every symphony is a unique truly masterpiece, and each one has a place in our hearts, and in general all Beethoven music feel so above the rest of the composers, it has something truly magical and inspiring, it can be soft and sweet, but the next is brave and furious, a rollecoaster of emotions, like Bernstein said: "In Beethoven each note is in the exact position, it cannot be different in any case, and no other composer had that ability, is like Beethoven had a personal telephone line with God, and God told him which note had to go after the previous"
I'm in Abu Dhabi, UAE. I've got the Iman belling out a call to prayer - it's one of 10 that will happen during today. I'm blocking his voice with my headphones, blasting this piece as directly as possible into my brain. This is evocative of green, open fields. I only see sand and construction sites... what the fuck have I done with my life????

Two years ago my grand daughter was born. Shortly after I met her this music came to mind. I tell people she looks like this music sounds.
How does a person look like music? LoL
This is the most beautiful compliment I've ever heard

This is, and always will be the most beautiful thing in the world to me
Beethoven, if only you knew the impact you had on the world...
It's my fav mvt from the symphony. Soo underrated :[

I was 16. I will never forget it either. nearly moved me to tears when I first heard it.
hugely important piece that is part of my family history. Learnt this piece early on in my childhood
This was the very first lullaby my darling daughter heard, 18 years ago today.
I have asked that my funeral concludes with this. Rest after the storms of life.
Good choice. Uplifting not depressing.
Beethoven named this music "happy and thankful feelings after the storm," and I am watching this video just after an actual storm brushed my town!
Are you thankful?
Or were you thankful two years ago?
@@matent9076 I was thankful that the storm didn't cause any problems as to lightning strikes, power failure, tornadoes, etc etc!

xseqer - I let my family know, many year ago, that this will be used as my casket gets lowered into the ground.
so beautiful, never gets old
Imagine writing something so timeless and enduring that over a century later people are still enjoying it.
Over 2 centuries my friend.
What more could you want to listen to. Pure beauty in
music.

This is the sweetest music I think I know!!!!, my mother would hum it to me and I did the same with my children 😍

Edit: Beyond perfection - transcendental.

Heavenly.
As I see it, this is the symphony that really shows the genius of Beethoven - forget about the 5th and the 9th!
