- The New Mastersounds played a straight 3 hour set at the Brooklyn Bowl. No stops. all kinds of fun stuff and great tunes in here. At some point in this hour, when the horns joined, I took the cam off the stand and went to the front of the stage with it. Extreme closeups. audio is Schoeps MK5's
Along the way they were joined by a fine horn section comprised of James Casey, Natalie Cressman, Cochemea Gastelum, and Igmar Thomas. Alecia Chakour did some crooning, Brian J from the Pimps Of Joytime played guitar, Nigel Hall on the keys for a spell, Nikki Glaspie played drums as well. This is 1 hour of the 3....click 1080
tracks:
The Vandenburg Suite
Yo Momma
Fast Man
The Minx
You Got It All
Gimme Some More
Wrap It Up
Way Out West
Take What You Need

So tight! This gets right to the soul of jazz and funk. Very nice.
Can't get enough of these guys... definitely best funk band on the planet atm... all incredible musicians, but the Hammond B3 player is just off the hook ridiculous!! Seen them like 5 times and they keep getting better and better... pure danceable bliss
+Lonk NY they are among the best funk bands on the planet. You need to check out frenchman's st during jazzfest for the best funk bands on the planet...
This is one of those band where you can rewatch their live performances and always get something new out of them. These guys drip with talent.
My favourite live band. Seen them many times. Just a real shame for us UK folk that the boys mostly stay and play stateside these days. They are 4 individual mega talents, and together are something else, but Eddie, wow. What a player. Hero.
Yeah one of the funkiest/tightest bands out there right now! Love these guys! Haven't seen em since 09' I need to get out more!
Awesome! What a great band!! I love it!
Stellar video! I love the Reggae style version of Gimme Some More!
Thought I saw Natalie Cressman and then I read the notes. So cool
Love the Funky Meters from New Orleans, cool someones covering their stuff.
GREAT VIDEO,GREAT MUCISIANS,LOVE THE NEW MASTERSOUNDS
Wow...the audio is Amazing. Good job sir.
Great concert! Thanks for posting this.
This band is unbelievable
28:05-Gimme Some More (James Brown and the JB's) played with a distinctive reggae-stomp vibe. Truly unique and masterful sounding interpretation of the original. 5/5 stars.
My new Phat Favorites!! Hulaween Baby!
great musicians, summercamp is the best, thank you for that pleasure
Absolute perfection
finally arriving near Italy...
awesome, thanks
awesome drummer!
You did a great job recording this ...ty for posting
The guitar player is fantastic, and the band has that deeeeep pocket
if I go to MTJAM this year, it will be primarily to see these guys. so sad they aren't playing anwhere near DELMARVA this spring/summer
This keyboard player is fire flame lol
Nice!
'magine a Vulfpeck/ New Mastersounds jam,,,,,
I get to see these guys in my town in a couple weeks and in July at red rocks I get to see Vulpeck in a 3 set show with Medeski, Martin and Wood and then The Motet...I can't wait!
+Dean Larson Lucky guy! You'll be buzzing.
Stephen Smith right? ! Can't wait for the red rocks show, such amazing acoustics at that venue. Saw counting crows last year and Crosby stills and Nash the year before for my first show there. ..I just hope steely Dan and mark knopfler come through again, I missed those
+Dean Larson Sounds like a great venue. Accoustics vary enormously from place to place. Our twelve piece (soul) band once played in a church for a Mayor's Charity event and we thought the reverb would kill us. But it worked out fine. Only trouble was the boring speeches just went on and on!
+Stephen Smith yes acoustics are so important but the way the rocks are formed around the ampitheatre make the sound perfect as long as you're not too close to the speakers and the front row. if you're ever by denver see who's playing for the experience of a lifetime! that's a bummer about all that reverb, you'd think they'd find a better place to have a big band play. ..I'm sure it wasn't the first time they had that problem
the bassist my idols, never fodera, never ken smith never tobias, only modest fender and presicion make a majestic groove....!!!!!
I need a master lesson from Eddie Roberts in a big way!
I love this band but even more when I got to the 20:15 mark...
waw que du bon
These guys rip
marty schartz needs to be up there with them. agreed? totally. :D
Wait is that Trey's trombone player?
yes indeedy. what a fox
Drummer is wearing a TAB t-shirt too.
28:08 get funked
Bitchin...
Push play. Repeat.
I love the performance and the audio playback is fantastic, however the camera work when the horns joined is terrible! You should have never taken the camera off the stand. I felt seasick; like I was on Jam Cruise, riding out a hurricane. I stopped watching and listened to just the audio instead.
These guys sound like hippies, but dress slightly better.
