He uses a disguise.
He's definitely Star wars's Batman.

A minute long action set piece ends up being one of the best space battles we’ve seen in Star Wars the past few years.
How is Andor this good?
had the same thought watching it. And it's not like it's just a fun spectacle (like most everything in the prequel and sequel trilogies). It's a useful bit of development: we see how prepared Luthen is for these situations. You realize all the years of work and planning he's been doing, and you get the sense he's maybe got more resources than we've been led to believe. And all the while, it's still a tense situation that doesn't make you feel like he has any plot armor. He understands the danger he's in against a routine patrol and a few TIE fighters.
Tony Gilroy brought his A game for sure.
Earned. Setups.
Everything is earned, everything is satisfying because of good build up and the fantastic slow burn that led to it.
And he wore the Han Solo gloves. Probably is Han’s father.
Better screen writers. I see the dialogues are far more mature than the series Obi wan Kenobi.

There is a Theory going around that I myself have also seen the clues of.. Luthen maybe a jedi Survivor of Order 66. His speech gives allot of clues to this. "I gave up my chace at inner peace, I share my dreams with Ghost, I wake up everyday with an equation I wrote 15 years ago." Order 66 was 15 years ago. He also has allot of artifacts that would have him imprisoned or worse. Both a Sith and Jedi Holocron. Sith Stalker Armor, and best of all.. he wears a cyber chrystal one that has been impronted on to turn its color. He may have been a historian in the Temple and escaped like Ju Casta did, he may have been helped by Mothma to set up his Alias after he escaped. We know that most senators knew of the jedi. Especially ones so close to Padme.

I don't even understand how he settled for an N-1 considering he's a bounty hunter. How does he even take a leak there.

Just had a big discussion with my dad because he picked up on some things over the series that I missed.
That telescope thing we see with Luthen earlier in the episode looks a whole lot like a saber hilt. That crystal he gave Andor bears quite a resemblance to a Kyber Crystal. And not just anyone can run circles around an Empire patrol as easily as he did in his ship.
The conclusion me and my dad came to? Luthen's a Jedi. Maybe even a grey Jedi, considering the methods he uses.
It is a Kyber crystal, he says as much
And you didn't include the "countermeasures"... shame.
This episode was paced really patiently, which makes sense coming right off of the banger of a prison break last episode. But honestly this scene gave us all the action that this episode needed.

Episode is a build up for next week. But in all seriousness, every episode after like 2 has been engaging. Even slow episodes still advance the story

"Luthen is a Sith lord" confirmed because of the red blades.
It would be quite a twist if Luthen is a Jedi who escaped and followed the path of the Sith in order to discover Palpatine's true identity and origins. And to arm himself against Palpatine. Maybe he even has ambitions of being the one to personally take out Palpatine - he just needs to manipulate everyone else to arrange circumstances just so. It would be a mirror of Palpatine patiently spending years manipulating everyone into the right positions for his own ascension.
That Imperial captain at the end so knew he was getting choked out by Vader later that day.
He has the Knowledge and Money.
So yeah, why wouldn't he have big-ass lightsabers on his ship.

After this episode I’m like 90 percent certain Luthen is either force sensitive or an ex-Jedi.
Why? Just because he's cool? He hasn't really shown any extra perception abilities.

@@Bayard1503 the kyber crystal he gave Andor, his utter hatred of the Empire that’s borderline obsessive, his always calm demeanor in the midst of chaos… I’m not saying he used to be a Jedi, I’m just saying he could possibly be force sensitive at very least, he shown the qualities needed on several occasions.
He is always carrying what looks to be a concealed light saber

not everyone that has a light saber is force sensitive. a lot of force nulls just view them as a interesting weapon
He's always walkin' around sayin' a bunch of words, then backed up against a wall.. BAM he's a Jedi.

Luthen is my new favourite Star Wars Character! He has to be a Jedi! His piloting skills are very impressive very similar to Anakin’s skills when flying a Jedi Fighter during the Clone Wars.
Really awesome scene but to anyone who thinks this could mean Luthen is an ex-Jedi/Sith or force-sensitive, remember that Han Solo was neither of those things either.
This is why the pawns go first.
Quite cool they used the real life system of firing chaff to defeat the tractor beam.
Of course the way to destroy a tractor beam projector is to fire projectiles along the beam behind you.
Like a magnet. It hit me on the second watch: he revved up his engines when his ship told him that the cruiser was pulling at "tractor force 2" to get their beam pulling hard to maximize damage from the incoming shrapnel. They fell right into it. Or rather, the countermeasures fell right into them.

@@thomassmart4088 yes, just kinetic energy would do, the tractor would be calibrated for the mass of the ship, not the vastly smaller projectiles, you just need to fire them off in a spread to cause maximum damage to the beam generator. Apparently the good writing extends to physics.
