Model 6 Jackson PUPs are not active, the battery powers the mid boost circuit. The third pot operates the mid boost but fully off the PUPs are tapped and then turning it up brings them into full Humbucking and then to full mid boost. Super versatile.
Amazing collection, I always find it funny when people say a guitar was built in Japan but it's just as good as the American built version. In my experience witch is vast when it comes to guitars, Japan has always been the most precise and quality manufacturer of guitars. There have been some amazing guitars that have come out of America but I bet if we went down the list and compared Japan would blow the US out of the water with the sheer amount of amazingly well built instruments. The US can have QC issues whereas Japan, specially companies like ESP and Ibanez (Fugian) always put out amazing guitars that stand the test of time. By the way I'm not talking about the smaller custom US builders like Grover Jackson and Charvel, their stuff is legendary, I'm talking about Gibson in particular.
People will think I lost my mind but I'd rather have a collection of these than a collection of old 50s lespauls. Yep sorry..if I could have what I really wanted I'd have a sick collection of jacksons and charvels.. all that 80s metal stuff!!! I just love em.. I have 1 jackson soloist. . It's a start.. a very pimp guitar too kids
I'm with you buddy. Different stroaks for different folks. I picked up a white DK2m MIJ this past spring and I have the Jackson bug. I am always looking out for hard tails. How come on new production, I find hardtails and... no fretmarkers on the neck? Arrggh. What to do, what to do. I love Jackson necks and bodies, I'm just not in the skillset to want or need a floyd, I wonder if there are others out there like me? Non shredders, hard rock and alt metal types who have discovered the joy of Jackson guitars. I see pro series soloists online once in a while, gonna have to save my peso's and grab one. And a Kelly...
Holy Hair Metal ! Screw that name . The best guitarists played all these. I had a Jackson,a Kramer and a few Ibanez back in the 80's. Wish I still had them. I still have my custom Mike Morin V with floating Floyd Rose. I would like to purchase one last guitar that suits all my needs. Looking at RG's, Dinkys and Charvels. Definitely something Superstrat.
I’ve got the 2014 Pro series dinky limited run black and white crackle. This guitar is absolutely flawless! A dream to play and it will be with me until my last day on this earth!
I have friends with crazy collectible numbers…. THIS, kiddies, IS ONE OF THE TIGHTEST COLLECTIONS I’ve seen! My first bass was a KRAMER W/Spector p/us….CHARVELS are just …..so cool!! ….I can smell the 80s
Vester JJR 1175. I have one from 1989 with multi color crackle. They made them with two humbuckers or 1 humbucker and one slant single coil at neck. Made in Korea. It was pretty much the top of the line model for vester. They were still like 600 USD new. Which was a fortune for most teenagers lol.
i have an all original 1987 charvel model 5 in black cherry metallic and i adore that guitar.its in excellent condition also.nice collection my friend.
Ya don't need locking tuners with a FR locking nut! Iove these types of guitars as well and my go-to guitars are a 1990 Jackson Soloist Professional Pro (Has the JT-590 trem that was made by Schaller in Germany) Kramer Nightswan, Buddy Blaze Shredder and an ESP LTD Cult 86 Vernon Reid tribute guitar that I recently acquired. I got into this style of guitars because Helmet was one of my favorite bands when I was a kid and Page Hamilton used this Magenta colored ESP Horizon which in the 80s was actually the Kramer Stagemaster. I fell in love with that style of guitar and I prefer them to this day! Great video!
I want the Kramer Stagemaster and Jackson soloist are guitars I've been after since the 90's. I still have my original Kramer Nightswan Aztec from 1989, absolutely awesome axe! I was kind of expecting to see one in this collection lol. Fantastic collection!
5:54 You actually can buy a brand-new Kramer Stagemaster now. They simplified the name to SM-1, but they keep the high-end appointments of the old models.
I loved my 1986 US made Kramer Aerostar... put a better floyd rose on it and a hotter pickup in it in 87.... that guitar kicked major ass for 40 + years. Very nice collection for sure...love the old stuff... neck stayed straight
Nice pieces! FYI some Stagemasters Sm1 were built in the Larrivée factory in Canada; and I would say the Jt6 is absolutely reliable and sounds great when properly set up and maintained. Cheers
Sad that you didn't talk about the Alvarez Dana "Scoop". I think those were made in the Westone Matsumoku factory along with Electra, Mako, Series 10 and maybe that Vester.
Sweet collection! I'm envious! I'm happy for you though. These brands don't exist anymore. The only metal guitar brands out there that I like are ESP. I think they are the new Jackson. Jackson these days are not as good as the 80,s models. And they're over-priced too. ESP are less money and a little better quality than Jackson these days. But the vintage Jackson are the best.
Said this multiple times now, but many brands are just a shape contracted out to a factory. If you find a higher end Charvel Model or Jackson Professional series made in the Chushin Gakki factory, you'll find they feel pretty much identical to an American Jackson. The neck of my 91 Soloist Pro feels identical to my USA SL2H and my 86 Charvel Model 6 has the same thinner, flatter and angled neck as an old San Dimas era (when Jackson was still primarily a custom shop operation) Soloist that I once tried. I'm still hoping to find a used 2 humbucker Soloist with a Kahler trem to sticker up like Jeff Hanneman's Jackson!
Is it double locking? Lol Edit: I'm loling because it just brings me back as a kid in the 80s asking the same questions. My first electric guitar was a red crackle B.C. Rich Ironbird. Had a licence "single locking" Floyd. All the other questions are dead on to what I asked in music stores. Like to add, only seeing electric guitars on MTV and Metal Edge and never holding an electric guitar I thought they where made out of metal. Why would it be wood? It's electric! Lol picked up on at a Service Merchandise and I was shocked. It was a demo had dings and dings that showed the wood. It was so heavy. Anyway thought I'd share. Thanks for the upload
Those aren’t old or maybe I am. I remember Charvel with the fender headstock like now. They were awesome guitars. Kramer had the Suhr type headstock. I had one of the first Jackson RR models when they came out. It was a work of art. Amazing quality.
I only came here to see that Vester. They were inexpensive but really good guitars. Much better than what you got in the early 2000s from brands like Ibanez and Jackson. That was a terrible time.
They've been making those Kramer Stage Masters again a couple years ago. They're they priciest ones they make now, not they're not too bad. I think you can get them for around $1000
They don't compare to the originals. None of their current models do. Partner up with Gibson, you'll get more distribution and have much more $ behind the product, but....after all, Gibson is a brand that SWEARS that awful neck angle and bridge break angle is "essential" to their sound. Oh, and that they feature "coil taps". It's COIL SPLITTING.
@@toddmorrissey8372 I've worked on a few of the old ones and did some setups and and a pickup swap on new ones, and the new ones were better quality than the old ones were. Two of the original ones had separations at the scarf joint, which is EXTREMELY common with original Kramer's. Actually now that I think of it, it's only been on the old Kramer that I've seen that issue, most of the time on Pacers but there were a couple Stagemasters.
I can tell you I bought the flagship model of the Vester high end in cobalt blue in late 89/early 90. It was $499 out the door. Guitar was nothing special tone wise and wouldn't stay in tune for anything. I sold it in 93 to someone for what I paid for it. Charvel model series are pulling some good money today, but you can find gems out there for reasonable money.
If anyone knows where there's a Kramer SM-1 in vintage white up for sale can you reply to this post. I've been looking for one of them for a while now. Kramer still make the guitar but the modern colours are just hideous. This vintage white is beautiful.
