Thank you, thank you, thank you. I came to this page because my CD player (not changer) stopped working. I was going to take it out and fix it or replace it. However, you mentioned that disconnecting the battery and re-connecting it might help. I tried that (before removing the stereo) and it worked! Saved me hours of work getting the stereo out and back in.
Great video. Some videos suggest to pry off the head unit/fan trim off first. Do not do that! Take the knobs off first. This dude saved me a busted dash.
Thanks for the video. I was able to remove the cd player and finally removed the cd that was stuck inside. It was a learning experience and not as hard as I expected thanks to your video.
Battery disconnect/reconnect makes the car run poorly because after reconnecting the battery, you need to let the car run idle for 10-15min so the computer can relearn idle. Then the car will function properly. I needed to get to the temperature controls lighting as I had a connection issue with the light. This was a great help in showing how to get the panel out. THANKS.
Quick question will any stereo be compatible with my 2002 Toyota Camry ? If so what size stereo should I get? They are selling me a 6.5 but idk if it will fit
Me: "I'm having issues with my car stereo not working." Majority of people I talked to about it: Have you thought about unplugging the car battery, waiting a few minutes, then plugging it back in? Me: ...... 0:55 ....I have thought about it. And ONLY thought about it.
If I were to replace the radio with a aftermarket which antenna do I use or do the aftermarket radio would have a spot for 2 antennas like the factory radio?
Do you know how to get the CD to change to CD1? I have an AUX adapter plugged in but when I press CD it stays at FM and doesn't switch over. So would it be the adapter's fault or the stereo's fault. I asked my local Audio Shop and he said to just invest in an FM Transmitter and don't use the cheap products from Ebay.
I am hooking a sirius fm direct module into the back of the stereo, which antenna input do I use? I didn't know there was a primary and secondary antenna. I would imagine the primary. Thanks!!
Camry's forget the idle speed when the battery is disconnected and sometimes has to be reset or the car will stall/die when idling. Probably what happened, easy fix
My stereo isn't working properly. My rear right speaker sounds like a horrible newspaper metal sound. Should I change the speaker first and find out if that is what is causing the radio to stop working? Or should I change the stereo and speakers at the same time. (Speaker grill damaged my rear speaker when it disintegrated.
Thanks so much for a clear and informative tutorial. The only thought/question I have is about disconnecting power. Evry other car I have messed with the head unit I have disconnected the neg terminal as per instructions in previous tutorials(the only time I didn't I really screwed my electronics up... Power locks, windows, alarm system and More.)so I am worried about it. Now if disconnecting the battery on this particular vehicle causes problems is it viable to pull fuses. Would that efficiently cut power?
@@imakebank6524 actually my brother helped me and because we were just plugging the new one into the harness and not splicing into anything else because we spliced the parking break wire or what ever it was into i believe the ground wire that was on the radios harness. I think the only other thing that required splicing into the cars wiring was the backup camera and i just ended up not using it.
Watched this video and was able to successfully replace mine with another identical stereo / CD changer. Only thing I suggest doing differently is removing the bezel from around the stereo first. Initially I pulled out the climate control panel first, but it broke as I was trying to pry it out.
Nice instructional video. I have a 2002 Camry XLE. The CD player jammed all six CDs. I removed the stereo and had to remove the top of the CD player to get all six CDs out. I was very careful to put it back together the way I took it apart. Now it does not work. I can hear it attempting to run when I insert a CD but no luck. I am now looking for another CD changer in a junkyard. Are the CD players interchangeable or is there some security settings that prohibit that?
Do you guys ever have 05' Camry's that come in with static issues? I took mine to a local car audio shop that had lots of good reviews online and they told me that its the best it's going to get and nothing can be done and that the stations must just be weak. These are popular local stations that I had no trouble listening to on my 02' Galant but now I can't listen to them.
You probably solved this but you may have a built it amplifier in the car and it either needs to be bypassed properly or hooked up with a special harness. I had that same problem
darkhana88 Dude just replace it with a $60 head unit from Amazon. They are significantly better than these stock units and the price of stock isn't worth it.
From what I have found, in 2005 Camry, when installing an aftermarket radio, when there was a JBL amp, you have to bypass the amp. It plugs into a wire harness below the heater & A/C controls. If you connect directly to the amp, the fader & balance controls don't work correctly. That is based on my experience & what I have found online.
Hello thanks for this video But I have this kind of cd player that has sound fault Once it works for 20 minutes the sound will go off and it will still display and cd playing
My stereo and cd works perfectly but the sun has damaged the facade. It looks like if the glue is pealing off inside. Is there any way that I can fix it without having to replace the whole stereo??
Why not pull the panel from around the radio, then it is much easier to get to the bolts that hold the radio in. I have removed them from 3 cars, & they came right off, with just a little tug. Of course, you have to be careful.
Excellent video. I have the same set up in my Camry. My problem is the radio won't shut off and is at high volume. Is it something I can fix myself or do I need an expert like yourself to bring it to after I remove it? Thx again.
Why is it bad to unplug the battery ? I work in the automotive field including electrical and it is highly recommend to disconnect the negative (-) side of the battery to prevent anything from frying wires or computer
Because then the car has to relearn it's idle process and what mixtures to run the fuel and all this other stuff, just have to play with the throttle a little when you first start it after you reconnect the battery and it'll adjust itself right.
the ecu is reset thats all that happens and the clock. no idea why this guy said its bad to unplug the battery that is bullshit. its better to plug it to reduce the risk of frying fuses, the ecu just relearns how to idle and comes good
