  • Following the May 2023 delivery of its 37th Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, American Airlines is now the world's largest operator of the variant. Japanese carrier All Nippon Airways, the launch customer for the Dreamliner, which was also a 787-8, now has the second-largest fleet, totaling 36.

    The fact that the 787 is operated on this variety of routes shows its versatility as an aircraft family, from longhaul transpacific journeys to shorthaul domestic flights, the 787 lends itself well to these sorts of operations. This is why I see the 787 as a successor and replacement for the 767-200ER and -300ER which while they had a shorter range, were used for similar operations to what the 787 does now, albeit that the 787 has also enabled the opening of new city pairs because of its characteristics, and makes existing operations like Dallas to Narita that much more profitable due to the efficiency offered by the 787.

      That's really just the carrier rotating the aircraft between their hubs in most cases for repositioning. Short haul is not optimal use of the aircraft.

      Please tell that to delta airlines, even with the upgraded 767 300er cabin the 787-8 is still a much better aircraft and would provide a much better traveling experience for passengers imo

    • @josephaskins1996
      @josephaskins1996 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Mikel Sales The thing with that is, that at the moment, Delta has ordered the A330neo, and most of its 767s are still on the younger side, what will likely end up happening is that Delta uses the A330neo to replace its 767s, rather than the 787, which while upsetting that we'll never see a current generation 787 in a Delta livery, from a business standpoint, it makes no sense to operate them alongside each other, unless you fine tune them to different routes entirely, which would be a losing proposition.

    I've flown on both the American Airlines and ANA 787-8 variants. I flew ANA from Jakarta to Tokyo Narita, and I've flown on the American 787-8 on domestic routes (Miami to Dallas) and Latin American routes (Cancun to Dallas, Medellin to Miami, Bogotá to Miami). The premium economy seats on American are very good.
    I've also flown 787-8 on United, Qatar Airways and Air Canada.

    ❤ the 787, -8 and -9. I have yet to fly in the -10 variant, but I'm sure it'll be amazing. Boeing changed the long haul passenger aircraft market many times in its history, but I think the DreamLiner is my favorite innovation (well, maybe 2nd after the Queen of the Skies).

    I hope that Cebu Pacific orders 787-8 because it's larger than a330s that CP owns, some passengers are complaining about CP a330s because they are so crowded. CP(Cebu Pacific)

    • @eduardgenardandalis1437
      @eduardgenardandalis1437 ปีที่แล้ว

      Even if 5J (Cebu Pacific) orders the 787-8’s the results are still the same. They’ll put a lot of seats as many as they can so the plane will carry a lot of passengers. They’re will be no problem for the small stature of the passengers (average Filipino heights), but for the tall passengers, that would be a problem.
      *It wasn’t the plane itself, it was the airline’s choice to generate profit.*

      I flew on a 787-9 from Seattle to Taipei in coach and swore I never fly on that airline again. Coach seats were terrible overcrowded, narrow and uncomfortable and with the aisle as narrow as they were and having an aisle seat I must of been hit and run by fellow passengers several times. I did appreciate the lower attitude pressurization of the 787 and the fact we did not have much jet lag.
      Then don't even get me to talk about the absolutely terrible staff at Taipei's airport. How to wreck a vacation to the Philippines both ways go through Taipei. Next time it is Haneda or Incheon

      The big improvement with the DreamLiner (and A350) is that since they are not made mostly of aluminum, they can be pressurized at something akin to 6,000 feet elevation instead of 8,000 in most other commercial airliners. Supposedly it's much easier on the body on long haul flights.
