THIS IS GANGSTER ‼️ DEFINITELY MAKING THIS A DVD FOR MY PERSONAL COLLECTION SINCE IM A AUTHOR/SCREENWRITER OUR KIDS WILL SEE BLACK HEROS
Being a youngster when "Sweet Sweetbad" came out would be the new leaf on life. The theater was like a giant "revolutionary-mind-activation chamber." The same kind of effect with the wave of "Blackploitation"...see a movie on Saturday...have a new nick name like the character on Monday (i.e. Sweet back, Goldie, The Mack, Superfly).
Thank you Mr. Van Peebles who heard me tell him personally at an event decades ago, how we got into the theater...["by any means necessary..."]
(Proving Hate and Degradation) 🌍
#RIP Melvin Van Peebles. I caught this on Channel 4 (UK) when they used to be a good arts and education channel with thought provoking documentaries. I never looked at "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?" the same way after watching this.
I heard a phrase once: "when the Indian writes the story the Indian wins"... hence our stories & recorded history. Thank you for your contributions Mr. Van Peebles.
OMG this is really good. I learned so much! Thank youuuu
Imatation of Life has always been my all time favorite with this same example...the end is why its my favorite...
Wow...Excellent!!! A Must See indeed!!! An inspiration...a lesson in History...who better to tell it like it is. Thank you!
He simply the best! I love him! and all his movies, documentaries, kudos to you Mr. Peebles!
So profound to think in 2020 we’re still trying to fight this miscarriage of justice, art & music. Thanks @karenhuntershow, I did the Homework, now I’m going to do my part in the classroom. Kudos Mr. Van Peebles, sorry this work is still needed today.

It would have been great to see captions of the movie names...though I enjoyed the video immensely. Thank you reelblack.
I love all of the late Melvin Van Peebles movies 🙌. My mom said that back in the days of segregation era that they had a lot of all black movies for us in our community but wear never shown on tv! I spend my days off watching movies of our people. I love Amos and Andy and a lot of Spencer Williams movies 🎥🖤🤎

33:08 the irony of this scene and this film is that the late Burt Lancaster took a break from acting to campaign for civil rights and the plight of African-Americans in the 1960s, but was he down with the cause, or was he doing it for self-perpetuation and to boost his status?
A BRILLIANT DE-CONSTRUCTION !!!!!!
The golden rule of America, he who has the gold makes the rules. Priceless...
Excellent documentary. Thanks for sharing.
My new favorite channel.
Thank you Melvin Van Peebles. And Reelblack for bringing this to us. Very informative. I thought I had done a pretty fair job of uncolonizing my mind but Mr Van Peebles showed me that there was more I could learn.
