It's kind of a cool coincidence that this came out just a couple of weeks after the Fallout board game videos. The setting reminds me a bit of the Nentir Vale from D&D 4e, which was once a borderland that gradually got settled by an empire before being ravaged and plundered by orcs, with only smaller towns and many potential adventure hooks remaining in the present day. I'm really excited to see what you've got planned for this!

I love this concept I was just thinking about something similar I’m excited to see how the numbers work with movement because your action is your movement

It comes to about 2 attacks per turn for the average person, if they choose not to do anything else.

Can we see a free preview of your game somewhere?

This is sort of that. It's a TTRPG, so all the information is in these devlogs.
Do you think there should be like a WIP repository that can be looked through online?

@@Gar1onTabletop I’d love to read whatever pdf and try playing whenever you release- this looks super cool.

We're still not sure in what form this'll be released, but I'm in the process of making an online repository. Sort of a WIP rulebook. It'll be updated with information from these devlogs.

No, but we're getting close to the playtesting stage. You can come and join the Gar1onriva Discord to help out if you want.

Sounds quite interesting and reminds me in many ways of Gamma World, another post-apocalyptic ttrpg that I really enjoyed but that is more or less a dead series as 2011 was the last WOTC did anything with it (apparently Gamma World was an inspiration for the original Fallout game). I enjoy DnD and a lot of the ttrpgs similar to it though the medieval/pre-industrial settings in them can get very samey. 20th century/present day ttrpgs are hit or miss for me as I like some of the World of Darkness games but I was completely checked out through most of a Call of Cthulhu series of games. Regardless I'd be interested in giving this a try some time when it's released.

Gamma world is alive and well as Mutant Crawl Classics from Goodman Games. It's Gamma World with the DCC system, and they have over a dozen adventures for it. It's fantastic!

@@midnightgreen8319 That's great to hear and I'll have to take a look at it at some point. Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts and that I haven't wanted to be in 7-8 player games I haven't really done much with my gaming group for awhile now.

@@jcohasset23 I totally understand. It's a great game, and Jim Ward ( who created Gamma World) wrote the introduction for Mutant Crawl Classics.

The game's still in development, so there isn't a playable version yet, but there's a repository of all the released rules so far here: thefarwastes.notion.site/thefarwastes/The-Far-Wastes-dcfce873072546529b48d1de7eecce53
