    I got a commercial art job a few weeks back and it's such a god send. I thought I wanted to work for a game studio but this job is so much better. There's always work and is not project based, the pay and benefits are better, the work is easier than the work I did in animation school. I'm so grateful for this job. And at some point my job wants me to animate ^^

      What's your job title/responsibilities in general? I've been trying to get a job in animation for years and am considering alternative jobs (I have a BA in Advertising and an MFA in vis dev)

      Personally I think a lot of us worry about if we'll be good enough. I know I do. Just gotta push past that and do the work to get better if it's what you really want, but I know that's easier said than done. Still though, if you know you won't be happy without trying for it you might as well. Best of luck man.

    Thank you so much for doing these kinds of videos. Lately I struggle a lot with the question of "do I even like art/animation anymore"? I struggle because I don't know if I think that because I'm just not exidet by it anymore, or because I'm in general not exidet by anything anymore.
    So this is not really the best time in my life but you and the stuff (comis, videos etc.) very much give me a bit of exidment and hope back, so thank you💖

    This is why I'm still deciding if I want animation as a job or not. Don't get me wrong, I want to be known for my ideas and share them to the world,but to be paid for it will make drawing for a living more rewarding. Although, like how addressed the downsides of working in the industry, it makes me reconsider the idea, and strictly keeping it as a hobby. Cause I do draw for fun or whenever I'm bored, and I can't imagine how tiring it would be having drawing every week for monthly income. Not to say, your video was discouraging from me joining the industry, it was rather informative, but I still ponder about the benefits and consequences. I guess it doesn't really matter, because as long as the thing I'm doing gives me life despite the downsides, is good enough from steering into hell.

    Amazing video as always, I always look forward to your uploads! 💖 I definitely agree with the project based thing, it’s a bit scary going into something knowing that you will need to be finding work somewhere else soon after. Maybe it’s just because a lot of us grow up being told that we need to find a stable job and stick with it (for me, it’s because I grew up very frugal and low on money = living in California with no steady job is scary for me) but I believe that taking the leap and doing what you can to connect with other artists is always worth it.

    Lovely video! Also, I have a question, you metioned that the jobs on the animation industry are nomad and always changing. I always thought that there were two types of job on that industry, freelance and in-house. Were freelance is based on a project (nomad type) and in-house is like having a contract with the company to stay for years and you will work in all the projects that the company makes (which may be more secure for the future?)... Sorry if I´m wrong, I always get confused on that part, could someone explain it to me?? I tried searching on Internet but I keep getting more confused.. thank you!

      I'm not MewTrippled and I'm just a student too but I can give a few pointers. 1) Study anatomy. That is super important. You have to know where the body parts go before you can exaggerate. For example in the American Dad episode One Woman Swole. Francine became a bodybuilder. The person who designed buff Francine needed to know where all the muscles go 2) I learned this over the years and in art class. When drawing something use real life references for inspiration it will always look better. For example, once I needed to draw a hot dog cart for my story so I looked at pictures of hotdog carts on google images, I also watched videos about people showing off their hot dog carts. The hot dog cart had an umbrella so I looked up videos for how umbrellas are made. *The exact words of my art teacher:* "Don't draw the stereotype of a bird, look at an actual bird for inspiration.

    • @darlingddoll9742
      @darlingddoll9742 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Hello! I am not Mewtrippled, but I am a professional working in entertainment arts (specifically a digital sculptor) and I just want to say that if your planning on working in this industry, choose something you know your passionate about. Picking the job that is "in-high demand" wont help you get a gig if your work doesn't meet the bar to enter the workforce. By focusing on your passion/ main discipline you'll be able to meet the quality bar far easier than choosing a role that you don't have an interest in.
      I know its scary wanting to work in the arts but unsure of job security, but the best way to go about it is to talk to everyone you can about what they do and analyze what you enjoy doing yourself!
      I work in toys/ collectibles and the industry is very small compared to film and tv, but I have still manage to find in-house jobs and hop around to different companies just fine because of my passion and skill level.
      Your young so the best thing you can do is explore everything your interested in and start studying art foundations and principles. This will give you some basic tools that will transfer to whatever you decide your artistic focus is.

    Maybe try watching anime without subtitles. That is if you never learn Japanese too.
    I don't know how good are japanese voice actors are, dubbing non-anime cartoons that are not from Japan.
    But maybe I'm low level 'something(not relating to writing)', I never get ground breaking remarks when writing, writing what I watch in classes, English and what not, High School and below.
