Star wars Rise of Skywalker..was not underated..but it was given less credit and a low rotten tomatoes score....this is had to be the 2nd best movie of 2019 behind Endgame but it wasnt😢
It's just pure good cinema. I too wish for more, as the whole film was literally just 'one normal day', in one single building, for one Judge, over just a few hours, within that universe. Brilliant. And criminally underrated. Too bad that any action film that's not in the "Marvel" universe is going to fail, post 2015-ish. I doubt even Terminator or Predator could be made today, as they'd just be ignored by modern audiences. Apologies for the rant. Dredd is definitely in my top 15 films of all time.

As a kid I used to buy 2000ad monthly I still got 2 boxes of comics in my attic from the late 80s to 90s. It was a great Dredd movie it caught the essence of the comics
'Upgrade' with discount Tom Hardy was that much more Amazing because of how small the budget was, I think 3 million, and how far they stretched it. Definitely underrated, and worth a watch!

Cloud Atlas - absolutely fantastic on so many levels, even when you watch it multiple times. Surprisingly few people know it. Amazing cast and soundtrack, creative story, great visuals, action, depth, humour. Shockingly underrated
Time skipping, multiverse type of craftsmanship. The effort put into the narrative shows. Amazing. Like inception with time and setting intertwined like a twisted braid over ages and eras. Coiling narrative that is loops within loops.

Ohh my gosh, Zodiac is so good! Even if you don’t really know about the Zodiac Killer like it teaches you everything- you’ll become an expert on him after you watch it. So good!

Under the Silver Lake is the most Lynchian film ever to be directed by someone not named David Lynch. The Top 3 of this list is the best work Watch Mojo has ever done. Roger Deakins' cinematography alone is worth the watch of Assassination, and Zodiac was snubbed Oscar nominations harder than any film I can remember in the past 20 years.
Watchmen definitely was one of the best films of a graphic novel out there. Probably the best ever adaptation of the genre. I would love to see the people who worked on that take on a new Dredd film. Definitely an all time gem.

A very recent release that shot almost completely under the radar, but is absolutely frigging superb, is "Annihilation". For sci-fi fans who like depth to their stories, it is a must. It didn't get even a fraction of the praise it absolutely deserves.

OMG!!! I have seen Dredd literally 23th times. I loved it so much that Karl Urban hooked me with his performance forever. Why do we have to wait 20 or 50 years to recognize good values on movies, actors(XX n XY) and directors alike. Bloody hate it when this happens and worse when I was there telling people and they totally ignored me just to come to the realization later.
Hard to blame the marketing when it was basically the year Marvel kicked of its extended universe. Thus came the downfall of original films, from 2012 onwards... Or at least making it very difficult for unique films to compete against Marvel.
I loved the originality of Miami Vice. Michael Mann is the man. the colors, the lights, the city, our involvement in the gunfights, the natural way of speaking, the kindness of the actors. It was perfect. The film wasn't about punching and shouting.
ANOMALISA is one of my favourite films of the last decade (2010 - 19). Beautifully animated, adult/mature, and relatable about a lonely man. So happy to see it on this list.

Some great movies on your list. But the one that really stood out for my nerd self was Dredd. That movie was absolutely amazing. Definitely followed the comics. Nothing like the Stallone Dredd. I sure hope someone will make a sequel to it, but not ruin the taste of the first one.

The comp I would love to give Brick is Miller’s Crossing which would probably make your top underrated gangster films or 90’s film. Brick is smart and has a similar intellectual play on both sides of the fence while also taking some beatings to get to the finish line. It was filmed 15 min away from my house in San Clemente CA. Great list as now I need to see about 9 of them. Too bad Netflix isn’t old school anymore when it had literally all titles within reach. Now we have to be strategic in what we missed.
I remember seeing Lord of War at the cinema and I loved it then and I still think it's a great film. One for the list in my opinion would be Battle Royale 2. I think it gets overlooked because of the first film being so good

I was given my dads old 2002 Chevy S-10 and the first thing i did was get some vinyl letters on the back window reading "Dredd (2012) is a cool movie." Because it is. And more people needed to go see that in the theater when it initially came out. It's one of the greatest Sci-Fi/Action films of all time. I would donate quite a bit of money to a kickstarter for a sequel.
Seeing POPSTAR, LOCKE, and LORD OF WAR on this list made my day. Good films. They should've put FANTASTIC MR. FOX, A SCANNER DARKLY, TYRANNOSAUR, GOD BLESS AMERICA, RED STATE (Kevin Smith), THE TERMINAL (Steven Spielberg), TITAN A.E., THE RAID 1 & 2, SUPER (James Gunn), 99 HOMES, and DON JON.
I LOVE the Dewy Cox movie! John C. Riley was great in the film. And I will always consider it a cinematic masterpiece for gifting me Jack Black as Paul and Paul Rudd as John.
Dredd was dope. Even though I know Sylvester Stallone’s Judge Dress isn’t considered a great movie but as a 90s kid I enjoy the nostalgia of it. I was like this Dredd probably won’t be good. Some great movies on your list. But the one that really stood out for my nerd self was Dredd. That movie was absolutely amazing. Definitely followed the comics. Nothing like the Stallone Dredd. I sure hope someone will make a sequel to it, but not ruin the taste of the first one.

@@FSportuguese Yeah, Gone Girl's also amazing and I do really like Parasite, but it's not underrated, since it's got so much Oscar buzz that it's impossible to not have heard of it even if you don't know of any foreign films.

Ex Machina would make an amazing and relatively easy-to-make stage play.
The comp I would love to give Brick is Miller’s Crossing which would probably make your top underrated gangster films or 90’s film. Brick is smart and has a similar intellectual play on both sides of the fence while also taking some beatings to get to the finish line. It was filmed 15 min away from my house in San Clemente CA. Great list as now I need to see about 9 of them. Too bad Netflix isn’t old school anymore when it had literally all titles within reach. Now we have to be strategic in what we missed.
I remember seeing Lord of War at the cinema and I loved it then and I still think it's a great film.
One for the list in my opinion would be Battle Royale 2. I think it gets overlooked because of the first film being so good
Miami Vice was DEFINITELY UNDERRATED! The cinematography and production design alone was one of the best of the year...this is why I don't EVER put any stock in critics or box office numbers!

The Fall is so underrated it didn't even made the list
I was given my dads old 2002 Chevy S-10 and the first thing i did was get some vinyl letters on the back window reading "Dredd (2012) is a cool movie." Because it is. And more people needed to go see that in the theater when it initially came out. It's one of the greatest Sci-Fi/Action films of all time. I would donate quite a bit of money to a kickstarter for a sequel.

Seeing POPSTAR, LOCKE, and LORD OF WAR on this list made my day. Good films. They should've put FANTASTIC MR. FOX, A SCANNER DARKLY, TYRANNOSAUR, GOD BLESS AMERICA, RED STATE (Kevin Smith), THE TERMINAL (Steven Spielberg), TITAN A.E., THE RAID 1 & 2, SUPER (James Gunn), 99 HOMES, and DON JON.

I LOVE the Dewy Cox movie! John C. Riley was great in the film. And I will always consider it a cinematic masterpiece for gifting me Jack Black as Paul and Paul Rudd as John.
Dredd was dope. Even though I know Sylvester Stallone’s Judge Dress isn’t considered a great movie but as a 90s kid I enjoy the nostalgia of it. I was like this Dredd probably won’t be good. Boy was I was wrong. Great actors and story. Not too over the top with just the right amount of gore. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
