SO I got a question: Suppose that Reaper doesn't ask you if you want to reroute the multichannel outs? How would one go about setting that up to where it does???
Hola sabes como lo hago que al silenciar el crash queda trabado y queda sonando como que lo tuviera aún apretado, los dos platos que tengo pasa lo mismo tengo superior drummer 3 uso con cubase
Whenever I do this, and set EZDrummer to Multi Channel, no sound comes out any longer. I can see the meters moving, but no audio is played. I am at a loss for what to do. This was a big piece of functionality I was looking forward to using, so I don't have to stem out the midi to audio to mix it individually, but I am currently unable to do anything BUT that.
I may be screwed here but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask....I have already finished about 20 instrument tracks in Reaper and am using EZ Drummer2 as a plugin, utilizing EZ's buil-in song track to build the drum track. Now I want to "transfer" the EZ song track to Reaper. Is it too late to put the drums on individual tracks? Thanks in advance if you can answer this question!
How can to move the drum sounds to view in a better order within the drum/piano roll? Super easy with Cubase, but I cannot figure out how to do this in Reaper. Working on a track today and it seems the sounds for ezdrummer are all over the place within the piano roll and I can't simply move their order to make easy of writing drum parts with the mouse.
Hi. Thanks for the helpful tutorial. I see you used Metal Machine and then Big Room, where it names the individual toms there (eg floor tom 1, 2 an 3, rack tom 1, 2, and 3 etc). On the standard drum kits that come with EZ Drummer 2 however, these aren't named in quite the same way. When I look on the standard Modern drum kits that come with EZ Drummer 2 (eg Original Mix), the layout from channels 4 to 6 say Hi-Hat, Toms and OH. It seems to have the Toms only in one channel rather than floor tom 1, 2 and 3, or rack tom 1, 2 and 3. With Vintage original mix, it just has names like OH, Amb, Amb Mono, Comp etc. That means that even after having selected multichannel in the mixer, the toms still seem to be lumped in with other pieces of the kit. Am I not able to get separate toms like floor tom 1, 2 and 3 in the default kits that come with EZ drummer 2, or are they just named differently here? How would I separate the toms for either of the two example drum kits I mentioned above? Thanks
Unfortunately, the tom splitting is controlled by the EZX that's being used and how it was recorded. Some have all toms on a single channel, so you can't split them like deomstrated in this video.
I was wondering if you could help me out. First off the tip is awesome and is very helpful. However, there is something that I am not able to understand, when you open EZDrummer and reveal the mixer, it shows each tom on a separate track mapped to output 5, which thanks to your tip you were able to reroute to a separate output; but no matter what kit I load, my mixer groups the three mounted toms and the two floor toms as one output labelled Toms. So all five show up as one track output. I have searched the net far and wide and a lot of others have the same issue, including some who were using the same metal machine big room kit. My question is how are you able to have the toms separated in your mixer, when any other tutorial I have found is like mine exactly, all toms to one output labelled toms. Is there some mapping feature I am unaware of? I am very frustrated because I want to separate the toms like you did in your tutorial. I use Reaper and Sonar and both end in the same result. I would appreciate your help, thanks.
Hey Dan, I'm not sure why you are unable to remap the Metal Machine (or other EZX) as I've done in this video. I can't see any reason why there should be a limitation imposed as all that's being done is sending the individual output to a specified track. Are you using the most up to date version of EZ Drummer 2 and EZX's?
I have this same problem when I use basic kit of Metal Machine, which a bit sucks since it's exactly that set I'd prefer to use. It does not separate toms. However, you can choose something like Metal Machine -> EZD1 Mixer Presets -> Default, which is pretty close to that basic set and is quite easily customized to resemble it. A bit odd feature though.
I downloaded a trial version of Reaper and it can't even find EZ Drummer 2 at all. I already tried moving the dll file or whatever it is into the Reaper folder and it still won't read it. So frustrating. I guess I'll have to look into different software. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
So, you can only do this if you have an EZX expansion pack like "Metal Machine," otherwise it won't split the toms into separate channels in EZdrummer?
+ReaperTV Okay, thanks for letting me know! -While you're still on TH-cam, I wanted to ask another question if you don't mind. I've been watching your videos since I left that comment and this is kind of irrelevant to this video, but how do you change the color of just the bar (next to the track number) in the track control panel instead of the entire control panel? I've been searching for that, but I can't find it...-
Quick newbie question, I will be sending my music to someone else to mix.... do I have to have ezdrummer in separate tracks & have them rendered into wav tracks for the mixing guy to work with them?
If you want to provide the most control, yes. Unless the other person has EZD and the same EZX expansions, you would need to render the tracks to WAV files first.
hello I had a quick quration. is there a way to use ezdrummer 2 and reaper and remap out the drum parts. not put them in their own separate channel but move kicks and snares in different places other than how they are being played in that part. like add more kick pedals to the groove or more snare hits and etc. if that makes sense and there's a way to do it please help!!!
ReaperTV How about the RIDE? I am not able to put it in a separate track but only with the OH...it is set up but no audio is coming from the mixer window in EZD2
d 90s it depends on the drum library that you're using in EZD. If the ride isn't sampled separately then you can't assign it to a dedicated track I'm afraid.
ReaperTV first of all, thank you for your time, it is very appreciated! Yes, it is what I was afraid of. If I use a ride from a different kit it is going to be not usable any more separtely. Conversely, it is possibile if I use one from the same kit (in this case metal machine)..not so very cleaver I guess. In any case, thanks again and have a nice day!
I don't know if I was clear enough, I'm sorry for my english... With metal machine it is possible to use separately the ride. But as soon as I use a different one not included in that kik, it seems the ride is not "routed" any more... Maybe I'm missing something...
Hi great video paul, just a question, can i save it as a template as you said in the video? So i wont do it over again if i am making new project? And how to save the template if so? Thanks
Sure is; Just select all the tracks you want, right click any of the tracks and choose Save Tracks as Template. Fill out the relevant details and done. Then when you want to add it in to a new project, just right click in the TCP and choose Insert Track from Template and pick the template of choice.
please, PLEASE, help me with this problem!!! IT'S HORRIBLE AND I CAN'T MAKE ANY PROGRESS WITH MY BAND UNTIL I FIGURE IT OUT!!!!!!!!! NOTHING IS WORKING AND I'M TRYING TO KEEP MY EMOTIONAL STATE TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!!
Puzzle Rangbang that's really up to you. Personally I would freeze the drum tracks so they can be processed as wav files and then if you need to edit the midi later you can unfreeze them.
Thank you. So far, I'm digging this DAW more than Fruity Loops. The only thing I say I miss about Fruity Loops is the Maximus plugin which was god send!
I'd need to check the track when I'm back in the studio, but pretty sure there's not a hell of a lot of compression or EQ being applied to any parts of the track. I generally don't like too much compression.
Try doing a search for the EZ Drummer 2 DLL file and either drop a copy of that in Reaper VST folder or point Reaper at the EZ Drummer 2 folder that has the DLL file in it. That will usually sort the problem out. Don't forget to refresh if you don't restart Reaper.
what I don't like about this method is that it creates a lot of useless channels, but if you delete one of those a random one will cut the signal of one of your drums, even when you know exactly where it is.
HELP!!!! SEVERE PROBLEM!!!! I will do EVERYTHING this video says, and everything will work EXCEPT when I ACTIVATE THE CHANNELS FOR RECORDING!!! When I do that, ALL OF THE MICS BLEED INTO EVERY TRACK AND CREATE 12 IDENTICAL TRACKS WITH ALL THE DRUM PARTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SEVERELY FRUSTRATED please help
+Kurt Viehdorfer You only need to arm the main EZ Drummer track for dealing with midi drums in this fashion. The routing out to independent tracks is only for mixing the levels and they do not need to be armed. If you're activating all of them, this is probably why you're getting a problem.
So, if I do it this way, does that mean I can change the mix AFTER I'm done recording as well? If not, I'm just not sure why the program would even change this when I simply go from levels to record-arming.
+Kurt Viehdorfer If you're simply recording / programming midi information you can edit that at any point afterwards. The faders on each of the separate drum tracks will allow you to mix any of the drum tracks at any point. This also includes any automation you may want to apply during your song. The method in this video only applies to midi though and not recording actual live drums. That's a whole different thing.
***** I appreciate the help! I simply expected each mic to have it's own WAV file upon recording, but I haven't gotten the program to do that. That's ultimately desirable for me, but I'll work around it if I can do what you are mentioning.
+Kurt Viehdorfer If you want individual wav files from each track, you can do that from the midi. Select all the individual drum tracks (do NOT include the EZ Drummer track with the Midi on). Right click and choose Render / Freeze Tracks > render tracks to mono stems.... This will then create wav files for each individual drum track for you.
Honestly I find routing each individual channel to be a massive waste of time in most cases. The drumkit mixes are fine as they are, and the vast majority listening won't be able to tell the difference anyway.
It's all personal preference but there are certainly legitimate reasons to customise things using different routing to default with certain kits to provide more flexibility.
@@guitaristjoshbailey You need to pick a Mix Preset inside EZ Drummer2 that has the Toms Separated first. Try using a different EZ Drummer2 Mix Preset that has Rack Tom and Floor Tom channels in the EZ Drummer Mixer.
