"La Grange" is a song by the American rock group ZZ Top, from their 1973 album Tres Hombres. One of ZZ Top's most successful songs, it was released as a single in 1973 and received extensive radio play, rising to No. 41 on the Billboard Hot 100 in June 1974. The song refers to a brothel on the outskirts of La Grange, Texas (later called the "Chicken Ranch"). The brothel is also the subject of the Broadway play and film The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. The first time ZZ Top played the song in La Grange, Texas was during the Fayette County Fair on September 5, 2015. In March 2020 the song re-entered the Billboard charts following the release of the documentary ZZ Top: That Little Ol' Band from Texas.
In March 2005, Q placed "La Grange" at 92nd of the 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks.[10] The song is also ranked No. 74 on Rolling Stone magazine's 100 Greatest Guitar Songs of All Time. Rolling Stone called the song, "...a standard for guitarists to show off their chops."The single's B-side, "Just Got Paid", is from the band's second album Rio Grande Mud. The song was produced by Bill Ham.

Not the most difficult of bass lines you have done, but still a master class of focus & timing, as always. Thank you.
It's not difficult until you try to play it! The only reason this song works is because the drums and bass stay in the pocket. Even it it speeds up a tiny bit, the song is totally screwed.

go ahead! buy a four strings passiv e-bass, like a JB modell or a precision modell, try to use a 0.040" string and, the most important, a good amplifier with 12" Speaker annnnd bring it to a Luthier to make a goog setup....

Been watching you for 10 years sir, always great content. I wanted to ask: your right hand is always draped over the bass is somewhat of a right-angle, does that not hurt? I can't play in such a position for anymore than 5 minutes before it starts to ache.
I really never have noticed. I'm sure the angle varies from the different bass but there is no pain or fatigue.

Brother C I've been wanting ask your opinion on doing TH-cam videos. I would like to do some instructional videos on playing Bass with a pick but I am 59yrs old and 300lbs. I don't know if I'm ready to receive the mountain of fat jokes this will surely bring. How do you handle negative comments??? I'm not planning on making a gig out of it but you and some other TH-camrs have helped me convert from guitar to Bass I would like to help others. PS Love ya baby ❤.

Constantine, I have a question. I have neighbors, so if I do get a Bass would I have to use headphones to practice because I know Bass travels through walls easily.
I guess it all depends on how loud are you going to practise. I enjoy playing with headphones on because it helps me to learn the songs and hear the notes more clearly. But you can have a practice amp that does the same job today via blue tooth or plugging in your phone to the practice amp. The possibilities are endless.

@@TerribleBassCovers I always used headphones around the $50 mark. My next purchase will be cordless headphones. Again nothing fancy.
