@@trevsla7852 LMAO. You basically have to treat Season 1 like a separate show. Riggins and Lyla are obviously seniors and then hang around for another 2 years. At one point they even say Julie is a sophomore but she doesn't graduate till Season 4.
Yea this is a weakness of FNL. They are simultaneously writing characters to seem like teenagers at times, and like adults at other times. Julie and Matt feel mismatched because she seems like a high school kid and the actress was actually younger, and Matt seems like an adult.

( so what if she had wondering eye as a child) not many girls end up with their first boyfriend. So bash a child but going to ignore matt was preyed on this relationship is equivalent to that one Tara had with that married man
yeah the second season was very questionable. not that the rest of the show or almost every other drama centered on teens is any better in that department
they vacillate between characterizing the players as adults or teens whenever needed. it's a little weird, but i think partially intentional as an indication of the pressure & elevated status placed on the high school football team in dillon. also, it's definitely only able to fly bc it's an older woman & younger boy. the reverse would never fly without being extremely clearly characterized as predatory, which this relationship was not properly written as
