There have been other Afro-latinas in Miss Universe. She may have been the first Afro-latina to represent USA in Miss Universe, but definitely not the first Afro-Latina in MU.

Please, no more Latin countries for MU 2025. Better yet, to be fair, rotate holding future MU pageants in each continent alternately, ie, year 1 - Europe/Middle East, year 2 - Africa/Oceania, year 3 - Asia, year 4 - Americas, then back to the same rotation again.
Also, Ashley Callingbull was the first woman of Indigenous heritage to represent Canada at the competition (she is Cree)
