I am a trader who picked up a 1990 535 sport cheap because of the increased fuel cost.Had a worn seat bolster,but drove tight and smooth.The mileage, 304,000 miles.
I think the golden era for German Cars (Mercedes & BMW) was from 1985 to 1995, I was lucky to find a black E34 525i 1995 with M50 straight 2.5L engine, I bought it without any hesitation as I believe it resembles the ultimate driving machine in its essence form, I wish I could find the 530i version which comes with 3L V8 engine but it is difficult to find.
Ohhhh now that would be lovely. This car is original down to the metric tyres and Alpine take deck 😎. I'm assuming the Alpina is more powerful and has styling mods.
John, this are utterly brilliant driving cars, my dad had a manual 1990 525i (the later 24v) and even that would go like stink. Wow a 535i is something else
My father had this car with black interior and auto transmission, same colour and wheels but it had a dark kimono tint. It’s what I got my drivers license with 20 years ago. I need this car again..

Can't help the feeling bringing a 535i in from the UK to Ireland after Brexit might not be an awful lot cheaper than bringing in an M5. Pity you didn't mention the figures, presumably the owner did not want it discussed? My own E34 was a 530i V8

I did ask the owner why he chose the 535i Sport over an M5 and also an 850i and it came down to usability. Despite the rarity now of a 535i Sport everything can be gotten without issue to keep it on the road. The same can't be said of the M5, that and the second you mention M5 the parts prices go wild. The VRT is a lot nicer on a car over 30yr old... 200 quid! I know you still have vat to deal with but with a big 6 pot and the road tax coming in at 56 and a 2 year NCT it makes it a very attractive proposition!

Great cars! And nice review.. I’ve never had a 535 but have a Eiro 3.8 M5 and a ‘95 540i Sport 6 speed and in the same color as this. I can’t decide which one is more fun to drive. I Love the thing ❤️. And yea my interest left BMWs of a few years ago lol. The 90s are peak to me. For that matter as nice as the E39s are, they just don’t have the classic touches or the purely Germanic feel and look to them mike the E34s. I think these are due for a market surge. The only mods I’d make here- This one still is on stilts and maybe could use a little drop. Just a little. And a new Blaupunkt SQR stereo head unit or CD43 👍 both good options that look much more correct and improve from factory sound.
I'm a bit late to catching this video but that is a really lovely looking E34. I'd say the owner is delighted with it. And thanks for the link to importing a car from the UK, using a dedicated import company can take a lot of the hassle out of the whole process, apart from the costs that are still involved though.

Beautiful car! Still looks so fabulous. I would gladly own and drive one like this, only I would have preferred it in black. It's probably easier to upkeep and maintain it than a modern compucar.
Hopefully this doesn't hurt any feelings. But I have a 535i Sport from the UK here in NZ. Now a race car. Was converted when they were of little value. Now they are worth 20K plus for an average condition one.
Just came across channel today.. Good taste 😉, I brought in 2 of these last year before the changes in vrt, one with manual lsd and the sport interior.. Lovely cars.. Mpg gets a little depressing over 4000rpm 😂
I owned one of these back in the day, early 90's. Didn't keep it long. Yes, it could shift. But, really, it was a car with few subtleties. Away from giving it stick, I never felt that I could sit back and relax. And it always felt like a big car. Contrast with an XJ6. The definition of being able to drive fast, without hassle, and arrive not feeling tired. Oh, and my XJ never felt like I was driving a big car.
Just passing through 50 miles an hour...................................................and .......................there's 90, I mean 60 miles an hour there.
My first BMW was a 1989 535i with a manual gearbox and that thing was amazing. It was fast, luxurious, attractive, and a blast to drive.

Funny you mention the 525i, this replaced a 1990 E34 525i that only had 40k miles. Owner felt the chassis had a lot more to give.

The e90 was the last good model if you had swirl flaps removed & the e90 lci and the e34 look the same at the boot lid
