watched this video and understood a few criteria required to shoot bmw acceleration: - empty fuel tank - broken ESP / ABS - not warmed up engine - tightened parking brake
Years ago I used to have a 1988 E34 535i SE auto in diamond black with grey interior (non leather) and I used to love how silky smooth that 3.4 (3430cc) straight 6 was with it's 4 speed switchable auto box (ECONOMY SPORT & MANUAL), the one I had said in the handbook 211bhp and had no cats... I think the 208 hp E34 535i was when they fitted catalysts...
You're missing the M20 models. The M20B20 E34 is probably slower than the 518i due to being heavier and having longer gearing. It's like watching a rock erode.
One thing that could have been more interesting for the video is to make a comparison between the E34 phase 1 and phase 2, because they do not have the same engine block and therefore not the same power as the phase 1 have m20 and m30 motors, while phase 2 have m50 and m60 motors
If I remeber correctly there were two iterations of the 525, it changed about 1990, think it went from a 12v around 170bhp, to a 24v with 192bhp. I had a 520 and the later 525, I think the 0-60 times were just under 11 and 9 seconds repectively. This was UK specs, with manual gearboxes... To cause more confusion there was also a 6 cylinder 530 until about 1990, and VANOS added to the 525 (and maybe others) later on which may have added some extra performance...
