Millie just carried this episode , seeing everyone abandon her was so heartbreaking! Ending was a bit confusing best guess she experienced an alternate timeline cause breaking the circle , be interesting if she remembers later on

It will definitely be interesting if she remembers later on. Millie was absolutely fantastic.

@@Shelma32Reactions I think Millie is truly exceptional - even from her first appearance. An excellent actor.

I think old Ruby said something like, “Don’t step on it.” That was a VERY weird episode.

One of the best things in TV in ages, never mind Doctor Who. This was like an indie British Horror .
Also, influences from RTD's Years and Years (the dark political stuff, amazed it was allowed now that we are in an election!) ...And a film called It Follows , from a few years ago. Can't quite believe I was watching Who, the missing titles threw me off at the start but it works for this, because I felt their absence, like the missing Doctor.
More stuff about reality/belief /magic etc too, all going back to what happened in Wide Blue Yonder. The Doctor was broke the universe !😅

This blew my mind, I had to pause just before Kate appeared for a few minutes as I was feeling so invested and disturbed by it.
Last week I bonded with Nguti, this was Millies episode. Astonishing.
So good to have Sian Phillios in it too (old lady in the pub)

OMG, I feel exactly the same, and I had to pause it as well, just to catch my breath for the same reasons you mentioned. Millie has become my favourite companion to date!

If you go back and watch the whole thing, listen to what everyone says and treat it all as real and true, including what was said by the Doctor, the people in the pub, Ruby's foster mom, and Kate, then you should understand everything, including why Spirit Ruby is closer in the hospice room when Ruby looks at her without her glasses.

And bear in mind, we are still feeling the effects of the Toymaker and the salt at the edge of reality...

The more I think about it and the more I watch little bits, the more I think i understand. Sometimes my head just doesn’t get things immediately.

And I agree, the pub customers may have been joking but I also think they were right.

It's OK Shelma, it isn't just you, this wasn't written to be immediately understood, but to be reflected on mulled over, come up with ideas for ourselves , 'making up the rules to fit ' as someone said .

I loved this one! It unsettled me, and I wouldn't want something this strange every week, but it was very moving and interesting, and it's cool when Who does something a bit different. Great reaction, thank you!

I dont know about the woman's hand gestures and why exactly 73 yards, but i do have other theories.
Where did the doctor go: he was the one who broke the fairy circle, so maybe his disappearance was a type of punishment. And why didnt Ruby disappear? She was the one who took the scroll about Mad Jack and read it, so taking down the PM had become her mission alone, although she didnt know it yet.
Why did the woman make everyone hate Ruby: I feel like it was a defence mechanism, coz nothing should hamper Ruby's mission of dethroning the PM. If Unit, for example, successfully intervened and captured the woman, Ruby would have never been able to deal with the PM. So, its like: you try to approach her or talk to her, then you are repelled by her and driven away from Ruby, so that Ruby's mission can be completed without impediments or distractions. Nobody tried to approach the woman after Ruby dealt with the PM, so we don't know if this theory holds.
Unfortunately the PM took advantage of Marti, and Ruby feels guilty coz she introduced them. This adds to his villany and why we are motivated to see him dethroned. So Marti is esctatic when the PM runs away and resigns.
There is no paradox. The episode occured in an alternate timeline, like Kate told Ruby. And in that timeline, Ruby stopped the PM from leading the "the world to the brink of nuclear war", to quote the Doctor. So there is no actual nuclear war. When the timeline is reset in the final scene, Ruby does not live a life where she will stop the PM, so it isnt a paradox. Her original timeline is restored when she dies in her deathbed and united with the old woman. In the final scene, the doctor again tells Ruby about the dangerous PM. Going by the exact words of the Doctor, the PM will indeed come to power in 2046, but clearly doesn't do any catastrophic damage. He simply acquires the weapons for symbolism.
This entire episode was in an alternate timeline and trying to be all meta coz in this alternate timeline, Doctor Who does not have a title sequence.

I liked this one , very atmospheric and a Doctor light episode . I suppose the old adage always leave them wanting more applies . Millie carried it well , I think the Doc mentioning the Pm. who ended the world in the future and breaking the shrine? I'm thinking the mystery woman was Ruby or possibly Marty , the other volunteer changing the future using herself and all being reset at the end , but could well be wrong . I like the way RTD adds to the mystery and keeps us waiting for answers in later episodes . Anyway enjoyed your reaction , a confusing night after watching the Prisoner as well .

Absolutely gobsmacked you pointed out Sian Phillips . She was terrific in IClaudius and played the Empress Livia in old age so well .
