We're living in interesting times, China recently conducted an automation trial by paving a 158 km stretch of road between Beijing & Hong Kong completely autonomously, utilizing drones, self-driving vehicles, artificial intelligence and 5G technology. No human labour on the ground. As for the power crisis, high energy consumers should be encouraged to build their own power solutions to alleviate stress on the grid, like what the Chinese Ferrochrome Processors are doing in Beitbridge (1200MW Power Plant). This won't necessarily deter investment in the mining sector as even though it's capital intensive, in the long run the investments pay off after a couple of years.
I stand to be guided; I believe that the current restrictions on exchange control are the very reason why we have a “bustling” construction sector and supposed “development” mushrooming around Harare. If we liberalize this sector we will deplete all our coffers much like we are depleting our mineral resources. We may not even be able to sustain a dollarised economy under those conditions. I would really like to hear your views in this regard?
I would like to ask about the electricity issue and the potential impact of solar panels in households. If every home were equipped with solar panels, how much pressure could we relieve from ZESA, given the current shortage in supply of electricity. While I understand that solar power won’t completely eliminate the need for grid electricity especially on cloudy days, but if we could reduce household electricity consumption by 75%, that excess supply could be redirected to businesses, potentially boosting production and overall economic growth. Is this possible?

Guys, currency and exchange controls are two sides of the same coin. There is a small percentage for distortion but they are very closely linked
