I think we are better off saving and investing our own local & foreign resources to finance our Working Capital and capital Investments than borrowing from the IMF/World Bank. Let's harness our local talents in finance & investments and come up with attractive products for Zimbabweans living in the diaspora to invest in, then use those funds to fund our capital & infrastructure developments. Most third-world countries have never been able to wean themselves from IMF/World Bank monetary/capital support because these institutions not only harbor economic agendas but also political and neocolonial agendas. The elephant in the room we have to deal with first ,for any successful real economic growth across our social strata is a strong adherence to corporate governance at individual, Government & Private Sector level.
Interesting discussion💯
Thank you
Great show, definitely one of my favorite episodes, interesting history, the Gono and Mugabe relationship highlights the difference between politics perceptions and the realities & personalities involved in running the administration
The government remains as obdurate as ever, collectively putting political decisions ahead of rational economic decisions leaving the average citizen on the verge of utter destitution and hopelessness. All of this points to deficiencies in leadership and governance.
Gentleman I agree that we are at our wit's end. We are not prepared to bite the bullet and abandon the dollar. In any economy there is invevitable and progressive aggregate demand expansion. That is only balanced out by money supply growth. We have naively made money supply growth a sin in our country. It is a necessity in any functional economy. With the USD as primary legal tender it means our aggregate demand growth can not be balanced out by money supply growth, hence the perennial liquidity crunch we find ourselves in.
1:08:11 From Income Tax, to Tariffs to IMTT. They should now look into how to introduce the Mattress Bank Tax. Clearly that's where all the money is now 😂😂😂.
Whisky doesn't lie. It doesn't pretend to be healthy like your precious orange drink...
Whisky vs Mazoe Centuries of chemistry in a glass unlike what you give to children at birthday parties in Zim It's like comparing a symphony to a nursery rhyme. Both make sound, but one has layers, depth, character... the other is just... orange...
1:04:06 the American economy grows on consumption. Punishing consumption and encouraging saving would give them the same economic problems that China is facing now
1:01:38 IMTT is a horrible tax. Imagine I borrow money from you and the gvt takes a cut. Then when I pay back they take another cut
It might be a necessary evil though due to the level of informalisation in our economy
@@simbarashebepete407 classical case of treating the symptoms instead of the disease
Given what we know about our economic status, where to we stand as a country in terms of BRICS, would we be able to adopt the BRICS framework?

They have all been trying to disprove the God factor , all of it is lies, the wisdom of man will be proven as foolishness, the moon landing is a lie, Elon Musk is also selling big lies, humans will never be able to live outside the earth , you guys need to imagine the pressure on your internal organs, in 2024 with all the modern leaps of technology cannot send man back into the moon, its all lies being sold by people with too much money and out of touch with reality , space exploration is foolishness , you cannot imagine the life that exists beyond the earth , no human can ever see this life in the current form , they are trying to defy God , whats out there is a world controlled by God , try and go beyond the earth and see how quickly that foolishness will stop , life was specifically limited by God because of sin . Full stop
Organize part 3
I would like to ask about the electricity issue and the potential impact of solar panels in households. If every home were equipped with solar panels, how much pressure could we relieve from ZESA, given the current shortage in supply of electricity. While I understand that solar power won’t completely eliminate the need for grid electricity especially on cloudy days, but if we could reduce household electricity consumption by 75%, that excess supply could be redirected to businesses, potentially boosting production and overall economic growth. Is this possible?
I stand to be guided; I believe that the current restrictions on exchange control are the very reason why we have a “bustling” construction sector and supposed “development” mushrooming around Harare. If we liberalize this sector we will deplete all our coffers much like we are depleting our mineral resources. We may not even be able to sustain a dollarised economy under those conditions. I would really like to hear your views in this regard?
Guys, currency and exchange controls are two sides of the same coin. There is a small percentage for distortion but they are very closely linked
We're living in interesting times, China recently conducted an automation trial by paving a 158 km stretch of road between Beijing & Hong Kong completely autonomously, utilizing drones, self-driving vehicles, artificial intelligence and 5G technology. No human labour on the ground. As for the power crisis, high energy consumers should be encouraged to build their own power solutions to alleviate stress on the grid, like what the Chinese Ferrochrome Processors are doing in Beitbridge (1200MW Power Plant). This won't necessarily deter investment in the mining sector as even though it's capital intensive, in the long run the investments pay off after a couple of years.
In as mush as Venezuela might have its problems just bear in mind that it has been sanctioned and its reserves taken by the US and Europe. Some of the problems you see in Venezuela are because of the confiscation of resources and their markets have been closed for them by the very Western countries. You need to look at both sides before you just blatantly lay the blame. Most of their problems are a result of the US trying to enforce a regime change in the country. I won't blame you because most people just get news from Western MSM which have an agenda. They same very Western MSM will never tell you that NATO or the US are bad but for the most part over the last three decades they have been a menace to life on this planet. No one is fingering them in the Nordstream demise yet that's one of the largest infrastructure projects to be found in Europe. They won't tell you about the fact that there's forced conscription in Ukraine.
Guys can you do something on the marketing side to market this show
As much as they can try market the show most people aren’t interested in such meaningful discussions people are too focused on things like mai tt drama and etc
This was so informative
I think you guys might not have much info about what's happening in China. Yes China is developed , China is at the top of EVs , New Energy vehicles, China has functional robotaxis that Elon was just trying to show. There are cities in China where people use driverless taxis. China is at the forefront of research nowadays check the science research papers China is on top. It's only competition is US. China now has developed its own chips because of the US embargo. China pioneered battery swap technology in EVs just to name a few. Huawei came up with the first 5G tech before any western nation and is way ahead of its competitors. Check the scientific research coming out and China is either number one or second
You guys have had conversations with gvt officials. Did you ask these questions?
It wouldn't matter...
Gentlemen. your numbers are falling... I really hope you do not waste your opportunity here.. I am a fan of the effort.

The pronouncement on the land tanure change is a big move that I think is now long overdue but at the same time requires the government to craft a clear-cut structure on how one can get a title deed and ensure that banks can feel safe to hold as legal collateral. Otherwise the banks will bluetick the move if it feels like just another version on an offer letter.
How do you get 43%? Should it not be change over old value?
On the Africa continent, i have had the opportunity to taste Zim, SA, Bots, Malawi, Zambia, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania Beef. Honestly i find Botswana beef to lead the pack , closely followed by Zimbabwe. In Zim Bulawayo/Matebeleland beef does it for me
And i qoute Karanga means a woman So how did we end up with the tribe called karanga

wonder what rufaro thinks of his words now
28:31 Elon Musk spent all of 2 days at Stanford
Some folks get to keep their land and contribute zilch, while others essentially become unwilling debt collectors for the nation. It's like a twisted game of financial musical chairs.Sellers of land should cough up over half their earnings to cover for 3 billion
Rufaro we are burdened with 3Billion compensation so that other people can sell the land to us. That’s absolute nonsense...explain to me that excitement
It's time we move on. I have never benefited but as an investor this opens doors for investment by diaspora.
My opinion is 1. set standard pricing for all land sales for initial transactions post the land resettlement program. Afterwards, any value is fine. This makes the program more inclusive than the current process. 2. Charge a once off tax to the sellers so that whatever they collect contributes to the repayment of the $3bn. Key hurdle would be independence in decision making. Difficult to make a decision that may end up reducing your wealth.
I like your program and how you encourage diversity of opinions. My only feedback is that guys doro itai shoma and heaping bottles of alcohol in the background is counter productive to those fighting alcoholism and addiction. By all means it’s your program and you can do as you please. However, i think everyone has a duty to be a responsible citizens and promote responsible behaviours. #AlcoholThinkAgain
@@2206Rob Totally agreed. Some bottles of water, tea bags, soft drinks (ma grocery) etc should be interspersed amongst those alcohol bottles to balance it out. How can Rufaro's proclivities overshadow the fine, teetotal ways of Tinashe and Ranga!!!
Podacast haingambofadze munhu wese alcohol may be a problem to you but not everyone. The bottles heaped make the podcast unique from other podcast asina those bottles
Great show Gentleman. Any currency under this govt will fail because there’s no trust. Zim govt Currencies are used to mop up hard currency
The only problem with dollarising and using the dollar as reserves is that the dollar is the “best out of a bad bunch.” The most liquid of fiat currency . BUT The US prints too and has a massive debt problem… the best store of value long term is Bitcoin. Gold is good for now until Elon starts mining asteroids. Citizens and nation states should have a bitcoin strategy
Great episode Gents
With regards to the recent statement on impending changes to land tenure in the Zim agriculture space, one key question is how they define 'an indigenous Zimbabwean'.
Okay the real interview/useful information starts at 37:53. The rest of it before then is crap which you can skip.
Alcohol is really bad for your health. Even in small quantities
All that steak in Bulawayo was stolen from the Shona people. If you know your history.
Firstly @Mega are you ok. Is everything ok at home? Talk to someone it might help.
Tinashe's opinion on entrepreneurs having a calling is on point. Maybe the debate comes about because we usually conflate entrepreneurs and business people. You don't necessarily need a special calling to be a business person.
A calling from who?
Please bring Victor Utedzi to the show
Yeah they need to bring him back
We need to hear more from this man.
