Thanks for showing tear down. Are there clutch packs in there.Confused on how power is transfered to rear differential in the unit.?Trying to figure out how to drain and refill since there is no drain plug.Trying to get. Siphon hose down I. There and pump out.Not so easy.
Ford says fluid is no needed to change . But getting old car getting contaminated and losing friction , so i thinks drain fluid with vacuum type tool , or syringe , I attached small tube to Syringe , using this . At least top up fluid regularly. Thanks watching .
When I start the car and start driving for the first time, it also makes a sound when I step on the brake. However, after driving for a while, the noise disappears. However, noise occurs when turning left or right, and noise also occurs when going up a hill. Is this also a differential problem? Around how much is it for replacement in Canada?
Do you know what the root cause for this was? I have the same issue that has just begun...the splines seem like they're still salvageable to me. I believe in my case it's caused by a defect in the clutch unit that causes it to vibrate excessively and wear down the splines, so I plan to replace just the clutch unit and leave the rest of the diff alone.
I know this is a non serviceable part.. cus the pinion shaft issue.. but I know they sell refurbished units... I would be interesting to see a rear diff tear down I have same diff but bearing need to be replaced...I would have loved to see a video showing the bearing and bearing part number I know they are place that stee all sore diff and transmission parts.... but I need part number..can anyone help me as I can't remove diff as it my only daily driver
Hello, and how did it go for you? did you replace the bearing? Because I'm going to dismantle the differential tomorrow and try to replace the bearing. If you can suggest anything I'd be grateful.
Well, thought maybe this would be similar to what I have, but not. Mine makes a thumping sound under acceleration, like a bad driveshaft, but it is not the driveshaft, only in the upper gears where torque is being applied to the rear diff. The clutch pack is a dry type, no lube, and unservicable, so no way to inspect it to make sure. This one was different, sounded like a CV gone bad, but was the pinion stripped out.
Thanks for comment, Check for rear drive shaft center support bearing area, some of car has piled up dirt and under accelerating makes similar noise (if driving country road) , or CV joint condition, also check wheel lug nut Torque , not enough tightened could be made noise .
@@BrightKim Thats been pretty much gone throuhg. If I hook up the scan tool and reset the transmission learning, the noise goes away for a while, but always comes back. I could disconnect it and see if it goes away , which would pretty much nail it as the source of the thumping. The problem is finding any source that tells us exactly HOW the clutch is applied since it is setup to provide 30% torque to the rear wheels and no more, so does the clutch pulse when being applied? I also saw a breakdown of the actual parts yesterday, there is a cup that ball bearings ride in the forces the disks together, I am wondering if that is the part that is worn and causing it to skip instead of forcing the plates together. I'm just surprised that it hasn't been a complaint. There is nothing regarding rear clutch noise.
Can refer RDU escape rear differential replacement video

Love from Dubai … very good work gentleman
Thanks useful video
Thank you so much
Where can i get those ball bearings in the rear drive shaft
Thank you! this was helpful.
Thank you.

Looks like a very robust dif. The pinion is the weak point.
