A werewolf who looks scary, deadly and powerful. And instead of the other movies copying it, they created those weird dog-like designs. At least we will forever have Van Helsing.
Yesssssss

Even the other werewolves were raggedy looking, its cause they didn't want to be a werewolf and enslaved to Dracula. Van Helsing embraced the wolf and didn't mutilate himself. All the others would have looked good if they wanted to be the wolf
Yesss
Werewolves of Underworld are very cool looking too, don't forget about them, haha.
The werewolf design is the best but Dracula's true form is also quite terrifying and so realistic....
Except he's kinda weak lol... like no chance against warewolf Van Helsing. Isnt he supposed to be like the strongest vampire? XD
@@BandTrap Van helsing isn't just any werewolf, in this movie he turns out to be Gabriel the antithesis of dracula and is implied that he was the first werewolf. just like dracula made a pact with the devil and became the first vampire, van helsing or gabriel, as was his name in the past, made a pact with god and became the first werewolf, he is meant to be stronger that Dracula. however in the movie van helsing don't remember his mysterious past for some mysterious reason and lost his powers, it was until he was bitten by a werewolf that he gains his original powerback and got a glimps of his powers and who he really is. You know now that I think about it this story could have made a good cinematic univrerse or franchise it's a shame they never made a sequel.
@@lazywonderer4669 oh wow ! That is AWESOME!
Gotta watch this lol
Yeah I honestly think the Van Helsing werewolf is the best werewolf when you're talking about actual werewolf and what it should look like the perfect combination of man and wolf
@@lazywonderer4669 I think the cannon story is meant to be that the vatican sealed Gabriel's true self away, not that it was just 'lost'. Could be wrong, its been years since I've seen it. And it wasn't openly said or anything, just the conclusion I thought you were meant to come to if one was to ever think about it.
One of the greatest werewolf on the screen. After killing her, accidentally, he realizes his mistake and his expressions change instantly. So much expression portrayed by a werewolf. This movie was ahead of it’s time 🙂
He only realizes it because Anna managed to dose him with the antidote when he attacked her and he was slowly coming to his senses. If she hadn't managed to stab him with that syringe, he'd have been indifferent and probably would have mauled that priest dude, too.

When I think of a “Werewolf”, this is what comes to mind. One of, if not the best, designs for a werewolf ever made.
Agreed it is the best ever and best portrayed too
Do small things but do it perfectly....today's studio rush towards making a franchisee, before making even a successful movie!
The best werewolf including best werewolf transformation is in a american werewolf in London. Fact.
It's the same for Dracula, this version was powerful but not overpowered, it had probably the coolest design for a vampire ever made in a movie and shows a charming personality with the cruelty a brutality of a demon... Best vampire ever made in my opinion, and werewolf too obviously
The best "looking" werewolf for me has to be the one from the Goosebumps movie. That one isn't oversized, it's kinda skinny like how a werewolf should be

Van helsing and the Mummy was a justified reboot for Classic Monster movies especially when you have Hugh Jackman and Brandon frasier ❤😊
True werewolves fully transform into wolves and can transform at will the whole full moon thing is something that Hollywood came up with
4:43 I love how Dracula is trying to truce with Van Helsing when he is nearing his defeat but Van Helsing already has made up his mind that he wants him dead
What i like about draculas death is when van helsing transforms into a werewolf dracula starts transforming just his wings and van helsing pushes into a machine van helsing bites him draculas death clothes form to batform

Underworld?
@@Codyslx nope underworld is not that better this werewolf is totally badass
@@fbianhdyt9826 Underworld is the best Vampire and Werewolf franchise of ALL time. Perfect how both strains came from identical twin brothers. These films are for mature audiences.
@@tedunseth3966 I'm gonna say it.... Even twilight did a better job than underworld
@@K1NG0FW0LV35 Better than underworld??? If you prefer teen romance films and novels it makes sense. I believe they should reboot the Underworld franchise. The first 3 films are amazing. The last 2 was just mindless fun. A popcorn flic.
Ex) Heat is my all time fav. Gladiator is another. I love Godzilla vs Kong. That movie is great because you pay for what you want. The 2 most iconic or the Only 2 iconic large movie monsters fighting each other.
Underworld is great because of the rivalry between Vampires and Werewolves. The forklore goes back centuries. It's a bloodline rivalry created by twin brothers was a fresh and incredible take on the 2 species. Twilight helped with the casual fans that became open minded.
Underworld was for the niche. A more violent R rated take. It was always what we imagined what would happen or to forklore did happen. The fights between the 2 was great. I prefered no such thing about hybrids. I never wanted the franchise to go that route. I would have prefered a film based on Marcus and William. The point was neither should die because Viktor feared it. I didn't like the way Viktor or Lucian was killed as well. I'm sure at the time Sony didn't know the franchise would make good money. If you reboot the franchise they can fix all the wrongs.
I would have preferred Marius to have been more like Quint Lane since Quint was the polar opposite of Salene. A true enhanced Lycan/Werewolf going up against an enhanced Vampire with the secret ritual of Vor Dohr. Marius was an Evolved. He looked like the damn incredible hulk. It could've have ended with Awakening once and for all. The correct order should be the following.
1. Underworld Origins- Prequel of Marcus and William that combines the Rise of the Lycans with Viktor and Lucian becoming leaders.because of Viktor's betrayal of Marcus and William being captured.
2.Underworld Same film but Marcus and William are both hibernating and slumbered in a hidden place to protect the bloodlines. Ends in Viktor vs Lucian. Both dying.
3.Underworld Blood wars- A grusome battle that has Alexander freeing both of his sons before his death. Led by Salene and Raze. Both really wanting peace but neither know the true history till Alexander shows up and ends the war but not before releasing his sons who are really the 2 bood leaders of each bloodline.
4. Underworld Awakening. With Humanity going up against Marcus and William and ends with all turning back to mortal once deceased.
That would be a better take. No hybrids. No romance. A dark series
The cgi was 100 percent ahead of its time. The wolf definitely destroys most special effects these days. I would have loved a sequel 😭

Still one of the best werewolf designs to this day. Love the fight between them. Van Helsing showing no mercy to Dracula. However I’m sad that she got killed off in the end. The sad look on Van Helsing’s face as a werewolf was so well done to make us realize what he had done, howling in sadness in causing her death unintentionally. 7:21

At that moment Dracula felt the true terror😨 lol
I like how Dracula isn't instantly stomped as soon as Van Helsing turns into a werewolf. He still puts up a hell of a fight in his Hellbeast form and Van Helsing has to struggle to win. I like it when both good and bad are evenly matched rather than it being lopsided in one's favor.
Van Helsing is portrayed as a fighter genius. Not only he can learn almost instantly how to use any weapon, but he efortlessly knows how to use their new powers. In the final trade, he tackles Dracula while transforming. Thats just insane.
He seems to have been outmatched during the first part though. With Dracula being able to punch him without him being able to counter. But I guess it’s cause it is his first time transforming.
Plus his sharp minds. Like "why Dracula has a cure?", that was super sharp thinking in critical situation
I always wondered why Ana died so easily by just a mere tackle. Years later I understood she was a mere human and that mere tackle was equivalent to a car crash.

Man, imagine Van Helsing teaming up with the Belmont clan, that'd be beyond kick ass.
This is definitely one of the best and kost underrated vampire movies, especially that they also incorporated history so well during the movie plot and the actors are amazing 😍🤩
The actor playing Dracula is a genious! Sadly I've forgotten his name.

@@ariaaurella9840 the force by which she hit her head...and multiple hits to the body prior to that
@@ariaaurella9840 yes it was too much to get railed by a werewolf
Damn those transformations are godly, we need more movies like this
Not godly but ungodly
CGI done right.
*THE BEST TRANSFORMATION SCORE EVER Ana’s brother’s transformation was arguably one of the best transformations of all time. The orchestral BOOM perfectly conveyed pain and emotion*
The scene at 3:50 where Van Helsing drags his claws down the stone is totally badass.
This is the best impression of a Werewolf by far. It actually looks like a proper beast.
While I’m at it Hugh Jackman just became Wolf-erine!
Wolferine 😂🤣
Van Helsing was the most powerfull and realistic werewolf ever.
Same size as Mr. Hyde in this movie.
Nope. THE HOWLING (1981) has the most realistic werewolf ever. The CGI of Van Helsing has aged so bad and it is kinda primitive for nowadays standards. The werewolf of Van Helsing looks so unrealistic to the trained eye on the CGI from 2010s onwards. On the other hand, the werewolf of The Howling has aged pretty well, because the werewolf design relied on practical effects and animatronics.
@@jameswalker6864 wait! you compare cgi werewolf with the man in werewolf suite?
Tell that to Michael. Hybrid no less but he is part werewolf
@@jameswalker6864 The CGI of Werewolf Van Helsing is miles better than the atrocious look of Cyborg and Steppondog in Justice League
This werewolf is insanely powerful, fast, and agile. He might be more powerful than the Lycans from the Underworld franchise.
Michael Song agreed bro for one thing The plot Armor in Underworld is ridiculous and Nerfs Werewolves down so much but here you see just how Deadly and Formidable they actually are love Van Helsing's Werewolves 😁
Vampire is way more powerful than werewolf
@@SheshaZilla Actually They are not always way more powerful bro quit lying to yourself if anything they are nigh equal.
@@SheshaZilla incorrect bro
@@SheshaZilla Quite the contrary. Werewolves are far stronger than vampires. Vampires are pussies. Werewolves are top chain predators period.
I absolutely love the transition from a howl into a... howl.
Anyone else got tired of "NOOOO!" ?
Happy 20th anniversary to this movie. Released in theaters May 7th, 2004. Crazy to believe that this movie turned 20 years old today. Time flies by fast.
I love how Dracula's clothes is still intact after transforming back to human form
Like Captain Price's Hat
You actually see his wings morph into his clothes at 0:03 , a really nice touch that shows how much of a passion project this movie was

This fight was so epic, unforgettable and well-made. I fully remember the Van Helsing movie with love after almost 20 years. Impressive!!!
The best werewolf ever created for a movie. Period.
Love the part where he howls and the howl turns into him screaming in agony of what he did to anna
You can hear the pain through the voice transition
Anti heroes can go to far sometimes :C
Shame we haven’t seen a Universal Monster movie on this level in years. Part of me wishes the characters from The Mummy and Van Helsing were brought back to continue their stories. Immotep has a tendency to never die, and I’m sure Brendan Fraser would enjoy coming back for some fun action. And who wants to see Hugh Jackman come back as Van Helsing? You know, for the longest time, I was never able to figure out why Dracula kept calling him Gabriel. Now I understand Gabriel is Van Helsing’s first name.
Yup! Also, in this movie, Dracula reveals that Van Helsing is literally the archangel, Gabriel, the "left hand of God" and the one who originally killed Dracula.

I always liked the wolf howl into a man's cry.
I am CONVINCED that this is what inspired Skyrim's Werewolves and Vampire Lords.
The way his wings turn into his coat is still one of the best things ever....why they did not make a part 2 is beyond me....
6xtbirk because they didn’t know what to do next an it would’ve probably being rubbish anything made in 2020 is crap
Because then they would have to explain how did the Archangel Gabriel became a mortal man with amnesia. Kinda hard to make it interesting.
@@thedeathgod1995 holy shit! I didn't know that's what he was! is it in the movie or somewhere online?
Apparently because this movie received negative reviews for the most part, though it would gain a cult following. I personally liked it, easily favourite werewolves design.
@@thedeathgod1995 I mean, that's not a reason not to make it. That is the exact reason TO make it. Easy to step up the villain, since the one for the sequel would have been responsible for an Archangel's fall, and it would have also expanded upon the story. Greater stakes + the expansion of the world. Those two things are what sequels are meant to do
"i think if you're going to kill someone, kill them. Don't stand there talking about it." Literally almost every bloody villain.
