The Genesis Group Celebrates Its 50th Anniversary

- The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Genesis Group on Saturday night in the Tabernacle on Temple Square.
Under the direction of the First Presidency in October 1971, Elders Gordon B. Hinckley (1910-2008), Thomas S. Monson (1927-2018) and Boyd K. Packer (1924-2015) established the Genesis Group as a dependent branch of the Church. This move was a response to a request from three Black Latter-day Saints-Ruffin Bridgeforth, Darius Gray and Eugene Orr-to better serve the needs of African American Latter-day Saints in Utah.

Darius Gray is amazing. I went to his fireside on Blacks in the Gospel over 18 years ago at the Oakland temple. It was amazing. Where can I watch the whole celebration?

When does the temple open again
All of the temples are in a phased opening. You can go on the church website and make appointments if your temple is in phase 2-B (baptisms) or phase 3 you can schedule proxy ordinances.
We say we have the Full Gospel of Jesus Christ, yet when it come to our Hymns we set up our worshipers for sleep. The Music is slow, slow, slow and not even fast enough. My wife has played the organ for over 5 years. I ask if anyone has been to a Samoan ward?? They SING and SING and without even Hymn books. Why because they don't even need them and they raise the roof. We need everyone to experience CALLED to SERVE and listen to it while YOURSELF is in the MTC. Thanks for more of a proper piece of the FULL Gospel of singing.
