  • In a country rich in biblical history, Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is meeting with Latter-day Saints and friends of the faith in Amman, Jordan, the first stop of his weeklong ministry to the Middle East and North Africa. This is Elder Bednar’s first visit to Jordan.
“We have traveled halfway around the world to be with you today,” said Elder Bednar as he provided guidance and encouragement to around 100 members and friends at a devotional held at the Amman Branch on Friday morning, October 22, 2021. It’s a diverse multi-cultural branch includes Jordanians and members from several other Middle Eastern countries along with families of employees who work at various government embassies in Jordan.

I’ve been to Jordan many times and it makes my heart filled with joy to see this little group of Saints there now. The Lord’s gospel is going to the world.

Back in the summer of 1998 here in Scotland i felt inspired to write to King Hussein 1, wishing him, get well sentiments and support for his well being. Also i sent him a gift of the book of Mormon!
I never expect a reply but got one in a kind letter dated 12 August 1998 from the Royal Palace of Amman with the King ending the letter " I am your sincere friend.
    Hussein 1.
I hope the kingdom and seat of Government of Jordan gives the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints the Gift of Official Registration if it is still lacking.

This touched my heart. In these last days it won't matter where we live. Turmoil will be all around us, but as Elder Bednar reminds us, we, the covenant people of the Lord can be armed with righteousness and with the power of God in great glory (1 Nephi 14:14)

The world is in commotion. ☑️
Covenant people of the Lord will be armed with righteousness and with the power of God in great glory. ☑️
These words sustain President Nelson’s recent Sun AM conference talk and call our attention to points of reference, as Brother Hyrum Andrus used to say.
This lets us know where we are in relation to the procession of events leading up to the open return of the Prophet Joseph Smith, receiving the sealed portion of the Book of Mormon, reintroduction of Celestial Law, the redemption of Zion (Jackson County), the restoration of the body of the 10 lost tribes (as opposed to scattered Israel), and the building up of the New Jerusalem.
Exciting times that Nephi saw. The Lord also taught us about these times quoting Isaiah as he taught the Nephites after His resurrection.

    The enlightened.
“Verily, verily, I say unto thee, blessed art thou for what thou hast done; for thou hast inquired of me, and behold, as often as thou hast inquired thou hast received instruction of my Spirit. If it had not been so, thou wouldst not have come to the place where thou art at this time. Behold, thou knowest that thou hast inquired of me and I did enlighten thy mind; and now I tell thee these things that thou mayest know that thou hast been enlightened by the Spirit of truth;”
    Doctrine and Covenants 6:14-15

Here's a question for ya: If the rest of us have to view Sacrament meetings and Stake Conferences and General Conference virtually and have Zoom meetings then why are we flying Gen. Authorities around the globe? Nothing being dedicated here - just a devotional.

    • @Cyrusmagi
      @Cyrusmagi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      A number of reasons.
A general authority visit is symbolic.
It also shows the saints in Jordon that they are supported and not forgotten either by the church HQ and Jesus for surely the comforter will have been felt by the faithful. The faithful there have many challenges and obstacles in their path.
The people of Jordon, Iraq Syria and Iran are of the Abramic covenant and no less worthy than Their Christian and jewish brothers and sisters!
