    2:41 that's the older version of the Alstom Coradia platform (named "Minuetto" in the Trenitalia configuration), built from 2003 onwards. For this reason they show serious signs of external wear you mentioned 👌🏻

    Thank you very much, nonstop eurotrip! So, I might as well tell you right now, this is one of my favorite videos from your channel. You showed everything very well: the entrance to the station, the station, the train, the arrival. I have known Palermo station since I just saw the most beautiful video of Dylan. Very well filmed. I really like this station and I find that there is no shortage of shops because there is food. (burst out laughing). I immediately noticed the fast food restaurant. (You make me hungry, you). That's wonderful. I loved the particular configuration of the train, everything. You're seriously short of subscribers, whether it's for Dylan's channel or for yourself. On the other hand, I spoke to mom about the Patreon, but it's hard to convince her to give the money there, because there is nothing in return. She said to me: "wait until he opens a teespring store, we'll see later." I already have 3 T-shirts and a mug of Dylan and I still plan to buy when I want. It's planned. You're missing a teespring store, I'll be one of your first buyers, if not the first. I invite all viewers on your channel to subscribe to Dylan's channel as well. Otherwise, a little question that I allow myself to repeat: would you like to live near an active volcano? Houses don't have to be expensive.

    • @NonstopEurotrip
      @NonstopEurotrip  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Louis! I'm actually surprised how well this video is doing! My subscribers are staring to build up now, at least it's going the right way! Well you do get to see the videos a week early even with the £1/€1 patreon 😎😎😎 but don't worry about that, I'm happy just to be making videos still to make people happy! I will look into teespring tho but don't know what I'd do 😅. It was a great trip this week even tho the train wasn't the best, the window views made up for it! And no I definitely wouldn't want to live near an active volcano lol 🌋 Stay safe man! 👍🏻😁

      @@NonstopEurotrip "I'm happy just to be making videos still to make people happy!" Good thing, you make me happy. You make us happy. Like the chains of Dylan and Pete. But for Teespring, you really have to think about it. You have to imagine a beautiful design, which looks like you, with beautiful colors, that we see that it is train, and that you put emotion into it, and voila !!! I'm sure you'll get there. To say that I have known you from the start, I am one of your very first subscribers. Sweet videos, I watch my favorites from your nonstop eurotrip channel many times. Take care of yourself.

    Nice video! The reason because they seems a bit "old" (as you said at 2:40) is why you've to know that the Alstom Coradia series includes several trains.
    The one you've travelled with is called "Minuetto" (ALe 501/ALe 502). That's the oldest train of the Coradia series, and this explains the reason why they can look old. I hope I helped you ;)

    2:20 it's wrong, this is ALe501/502 (there is also the DMU ALn501/502) aka "Minuetto" built from 2003 with XMPR livrery (white, blue and green) and now they are with the grey livrery, they can have only 3 cars. There are similar train called "Jazz" ETR425, 525 or 625 built from 2014. Both trains are biult by Alstom Ferroviaria (ex FIAT Ferroviaria) in Savigliano. Any way very good report as always!

    Amazing video as always :)
    You have rightly noticed that the sicilian railway network is quite extensive for the size of the island. Most of the tracks date back to 1800 (very old) and were used for the transport of sulfur. In 1860 Caltanissetta (you passed by there) was the sulfur capital of the world, with an enormous industrial strength. The industry then went into decline in 1960 and therefore many train lines were closed. In fact, especially in the central areas, rail traffic is very scarce. The whole sicilian railway system is a total disaster, because Italy has no longer strengthened the sicilian system and has abandoned it completely. In fact, although Palermo and Catania are among the largest cities in the nation, they do not have a high-speed connection like in northern Italy. If you are in Sicily and you want to go from Trapani to Syracuse by train (two cities in the same region), it takes almost 16 hours: crazy! This reflects the age-old discrimination of the Italian state against Sicily (which is treated as a sort of internal colony): zero attention and zero investments :(
    Great video by the way :)
    (Maybe one day you can try the Trapani - Siracusa lol).

      E ti pareva che non arrivava il demente di turno. Le grandi opere pubbliche sono di competenza nazionale, non della regione, e lo statuto autonomista (per giunta mai applicato per volontà dello stato italiano) non c'entra nulla. Studia.
      Inoltre, la spesa pubblica al Sud Italia è ormai quasi NULLA dal 1993 (la quasi totalità di ogni investimento viene destinata al nord Italia), la maggior parte delle amministrazioni pubbliche sono al di sotto dell'organico necessario (ci sono più assunti al nord, paradossalmente). Non sai un cazzo perché evidentemente ti informi su Topolino. Io sono stufo di polemizzare con gente come te, con questo atteggiamento paternalista e coloniale, che parla solo per stereotipi e senza sapere nulla, basandosi solo su quattro fatti di cronaca. Di quali soldi parli? Vuoi sapere chi ha il record di evasione fiscale in Italia? La Lombardia, seguita da Emilia Romagna e Veneto. In realtà potrei rispondere su altro, ma non mi va più di fare muri di testo. Chi si vuole informare si informa, ma non da "Libero", possibilmente, o dall'altra carta straccia prodotta dall'editoria milanese.

      @@mktgp1454 Sì, ma se vi arrivano i fondi e se li mangiano tutti i vostri politicanti non serve a nulla. Purtroppo gli interventi strutturali, anche importanti di livello nazionale, non sono immuni dalle dinamiche locali. La storia infinita della Salerno-Reggio Calabria ti dice niente? Fammi chiarire che non c'è nesssun tipo di astio o rancore nel mio pensiero (diversamente dal tuo, che trasuda odio e rancore verso il resto del paese. Grazie). Non sono assolutamente leghista o schifezze analoghe. Quelli sono solo dei decerebrati considerati zotici idioti anche qui al Nord. Io sono del Nord e sono orgogliosamente ITALIANO. Certo che poi quando uno di qui sente delle dinamiche politico-mafiose dilaganti in certe aree del sud, quando sente parlare di processioni con santi e madonne con tanto di inchino sotto casa del mafioso, o di interi rioni che bloccano a insulti la polizia per difendere i boss della zona, o di persone dalla dubbia onestà e dalle conoscenze pericolose che fanno il pieno di voti alle elezioni locali (e non), capirai che uno del centro-nord non ci vede più dalla rabbia. Se poi tu arrivi qui pure a prendertela con il resto del paese, che non ti ha fatto nulla di male, la frittata è fatta. Dovremmo venirci incontro e sconfiggere il dilagante crimine mafioso in tutto il paese, invece di imbastire dannose polemiche in una guerra tra poveri che fa solo l'interesse del malaffare e della politica collusa con esso. Un saluto, spero che il mio discorso sia servito a qualcosa. PS: la prossima volta però "demente" lo dici a quello che vedi nello specchio e a tutti i tuoi amici e conoscenti che vendono il voto e la dignità al mafiosetto di turno. Il paese non può più sopportare questo degrado. Studiare, studio sicuramente e molto volentieri. Non si smette mai di imparare. Ma studia anche tu, anche le buone maniere. Devono averti bocciato all'asilo quando si insegnavano il rispetto e la civiltà.

    • @mktgp1454
      @mktgp1454 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ho capito, sei un ragazzetto del liceo, perché se sei adulto vuol dire che hai vissuto fuori dal mondo negli ultimi 20 anni. Tu stai a guardare la processione con la Madonnina fatta da qualche delinquente e ti metti a fare il "civile scandivano", mentre vicino casa tua, i tuoi civilissimi politici si fottono una quantità infinita di miliardi per la BRE-BE-MI (che forse non sai nemmeno cos'è) e per le stesse ferrovie ad alta velocità pagate a più del doppio per singolo chilometro rispetto alla vicina Francia. Ci sarebbe anche l'insabbiamento dei LEP (livelli essenziali delle prestazioni) da parte del nordico ministro Giorgetti (ma sono sicuro che non sai di cosa parlo), o dei fondi per lo sviluppo del sud azzerati e usati per compensare l'abolizione dell'ICI e per pagare le multe delle quote latte della Lega. In realtà ci sarebbe anche lo scandalo Mose, altra vagonata di miliardi buttati nel cesso, o dell'Expo di Milano (dove hanno arrestato una marea di persone), per non parlare del fatto che il famoso debito pubblico italiano di cui tanto si parla è stato prodotto quasi totalmente nel nord dell'Italia ma le conseguenze le pagano tutti. Hai ragione, non è accettabile questo degrado: come quello dello scandalo della sanità lombarda delle tangenti, o delle banche fallite in Veneto e Toscana perché amministrate da incapaci o corrotti. Tu parli dei "fenomeni mafiosi del sud Italia" però non sai che i partiti nazionali italiani si servono di alcuni personaggi siciliani per manovrare i voti e spartirsi la torta. O pensi che le dinamiche meridionali siano slegate dal resto del paese? In Lombardia è nato il primo partito d'Italia fondato coi soldi della mafia. Mafioso è chi pratica la mafia e per aversi mafia bisogna essere almeno in due quando si parla di affari. Evidentemente, in parecchie zone del nord Italia sono affascinati dalla mafia, visto che ci fanno affari da sempre. Ma l'ipocrisia è talmente ampia che i giornali ormai fanno finta di non vederlo (fortunatamente ci sono ancora i tribunali). E io, insieme a milioni di altre persone oneste che sgobbano, mi devo sentir fare la predica, quando se vado all'estero mi dicono "bunga bunga" per insultarmi, anche se io non ho niente a che spartire col porco pedofilo pregiudicato di Milano. Se tu dici di amare l'Italia, inizia a non fare le prediche agli altri e osservare meglio cosa accade dalle tue parti, che già Bonaccini, Fontana e Zaia stanno cercando di fottere anche i soldi del Recovery Fund che l'Europa ha stanziato in 209 mld usando popolazione/reddito/disoccupazione come criterio, destinando il 70% al sud (quota che la classe politica del nord vuole RUBARE dicendolo pure a reti unificate).

    9:25 I wonder about French toilet standards, I think the water tap does not work good and the toilet seat looks a bit dirty in my opinion 😅

    I've ridden on the Palermo - Messina line a couple of time, with almost every piece of rolling stock since the early 2000s, only got on the Palermo-Catania once or twice.
    The train you took is the oldest EMU now serving Regionals and Fast Regionals, it has been here since 2004 or 2009, and it is called the "Minuetto" (designated as ALe501).
    Now there are newer trains, the "successor" of the Minuetto is the "Jazz", which also operates on the Palermo Suburban line (connecting Palermo to its airport, Punta Raisi). Aesthetically it's pretty similar to the Minuetto, but has 5 coaches instead of 3 and has a different interior (it lacks the longitudinal seats and has less foldable seating).
    Since 2019 the brand new "Pop" trains arrived, which (from my understanding) should "finally" replace the Minuettos, which are sadly in a pretty bad state.
    Those EMUs are exactly what you would expect from a new unit, awesome big windows, airplane-style seating and A/C
    There is also old loco-hauled stock operating faster services, which is not as comfortable as the EMUs, but you might like it if you miss the good'ol days of opening windows and such.
    Just a recommendation, if you ever happen to go towards Palermo always seat of the right to face the sea, vice versa if you leave Palermo (particularly towards Messina) seat on left, as the whole line is basically on the sea side.
