I dont think this gate is an option for me. The only access to the front yard is 6ft where the gate is. Can you install the mower gate on a gate itself? Mines pvc too. How did you manage moving the mower to the front yard, did you send it to the front then just let it in the gate on its way back to recharge? I was thinking 2 charging docks might work. Leave it in the front for 2 or 3 days then have it do the back.
Would never have imagined the need for such a device until you opened with the dog. Marvelous. I wonder if you could put a BlueTooth collar on your dog so it could use the door too, but not neighborhood dogs, racoons, etc.?
I was going to say that the battery life in winter would probably not be good, but then I remembered there's probably no grass to cut as the gate would be under a metre or so of snow anyway.

Can you please let me know where you purchased those fins to stop the door from hitting the mower?
They came directly from a dealer. I had to have the whole kit installed by a dealer.
