You have no idea how well timed this video is! My family is going to a renfaire in the near future, and my sister is going as a pirate. She was looking around for a fake parrot to perch on her shoulder, but now I can make one for her using this tutorial. You're amazing ❤❤❤
Everything you made in that basket/bag makes me so happy! Just started crocheting 2 weeks ago and loving your videos! Thank you so much for being awesome ❤️👍🏻
I'm making a cockatiel and budgie for my aunt who used to have these. Thanks for the pattern! Afterwards I'll make these for myself. I've had a fewof the two myself.
Hello! Thanks for the pattern! I made one for my grandmother because her favorite budgie died and she is extremely sad, so I made one to make her company again ❤
One helpful suggestion would be to leave the directions on the screen while you’re working on it. It’d be much easier to find each round as I progress!
Lol the hippo under construction is now a mr potato head. ;) The peas are adorable. The pod can clip closed with a little vine leaf edging thing even, so you can stop peaing on the floor accidentally ;)
My favorite birds are the cardinal and blue jay. But there are a lot of pretty birds out there like the hummingbirds (so many different colors) .💖💖🙏🙏💖💖
I love this pattern so much!! I have been wanting an easy to make birb and now I can!! I think I found a typo in round 16 where it says "(2sc, 1dec)x2 [18]" but shouldnt it be x6?
Just wanted to mention, the only row that doesnt seem to be correct is row 16, 2sc, 1dec two times doesnt get you a stitch count of 18. I have loved making my bird though!
Wow these are beautiful can't wait to make some, is there a particular reason you don't like chunky yarn? Just wondering I haven't made anything myself out of it and was just curious
There's a few reasons. As lovely and soft as it is, I'm not a big fan of the texture. Also, it tends to fall apart or 'shed' and everything ends up covered in the fibers. It's like the yarn equivalent of glitter lol. Lastly, I find it more difficult to make finer details from, which is something I enjoy doing with thinner yarns. The yarn isn't horrendous or anything, just not my personal preference :).
I’m sorry if this is a dumb question, but can we use normal patterns with chunky yarn? Is there a difference that makes the final thing turn out looking bad or are the patterns interchangeable?
Generally, yes. They just tend to change the size. Crocheting a pattern that calls for 8ply yarn with chunky yarn will make the final piece a lot bigger. I made these with chunky yarn specifically so I could get the size I wanted. If you switched it out and crocheted this specific pattern with 8ply, you'd end up with a pretty small bird.
Awe I love the dugong, rubber duckies, and sea turtle. Could I make these with dk or worsted weight yarn if I don't have blanket yarn! And how do I buy those patterns I mentioned above?❤ Thank you! Love your accent and of course your work!😊😊
They'd work with dk or worsted weight yarn but the finished piece would be a lot smaller. I don't have any written patterns available at the moment, but I am slowing working on fixing that :)
What size hook did you use I may have missed it. I have a heap of that type of yarn I was going to use for blankets but toys may be better. Have you ever made a bear with it? I actually would like to see all of them toys you made as they could be good gifts
I think it was 7mm hook. But for amigurumi, I just use one (or half) a hook size down from the recommended hook size of the yarn. I haven't made a bear, but all the other amigurumi I showed will slowly make their way onto the channel over time.
So glad I found your channel! I have been looking for an Australian crotcheter for Arigurmi 😊 Where do your find your Parfait chunky from? I cant findit anywhere Thanks
The only place I can (sort of) reliably find it is on catch.com. There are online yarn stores that carry it too but when I was looking at them I found their prices to be quite a bit more expensive.
I love that fuzzy yarn, it looks so soft! I bet it would make delightful socks 😊 Also, the editing in this is *chef’s kiss* 👌 it reminds me of old school Pokémon on a gameboy and I love it 😻
To know what hook size to use, look on the label of your yarn. Most yarns will have the yarns weight, size, and recommended crochet hook size. For tighter stitches, go 0.5-2 mm smaller for looser stitches, go 0.5 to 2 mm bigger
My head came out bigger than the body. Could’ve sworn I did the right st and all but I’m not sure I will try again♥️ Ps: don’t judge me for my profile pic maybe I was high but I could’ve sworn 😂😭😮💨
I feel like the eyes should have been further apart. Their eyes are more on the sides of their heads because they are more of a prey than a predator. At least that is what I always think about when placing eyes, is this creature a predator or prey. It's helpful if you're making creatures of your own design to think about, it helps you design something.
You're not wrong but sometimes you've got to sacrifice anatomical accuracy for cuteness and I thought the eyes looked cuter on the front. But that's just a personal preference.
*Correction -* Round 16 of the Head/Body should read: (2sc, 1dec)x6 [18]
Hii! My grandpa is turning both 18 and 72 tomorrow (he's born on February 29th lol) and he absolutely loves birds. So I made one for him!
That's really sweet I hope your grandpa had a very happy birthday.

You're very kind :)
I have been trying to find a crochet bird video for a while and yours is perfect ❤Thank you !!!!
Hello! Thanks for the pattern! I made one for my grandmother because her favorite budgie died and she is extremely sad, so I made one to make her company again ❤
Too cute!! I also NEED the pattern to your sweater!
I was going to ask if she made the sweater. I love it!
If all goes to plan the pattern/tutorial for the top should be out in two weeks :)
One helpful suggestion would be to leave the directions on the screen while you’re working on it. It’d be much easier to find each round as I progress!
Thanks for the feedback :)
The peas in a pod it too adorable
They're definitely one of my favourite chunky makes so far! I didn't expect peas to turn out that cute tbh.
Yes! So cute
I would actually really like if you made more tutorials with the chucky yarn :)
So cute! Thank you for the pattern! I need to make those birds! I have bits and pieces of yarn. 😂🎉
I would love additional videos making amigurumi with chunky yarn. I wonder how Chenille would work with amigurumi as well
They end up so cute and soft but the chenille falls apart so easily when you’re crocheting tightly for amigurumi. It’s pretty annoying to work with.
Agreed. That's one of the main reasons I don't really like working with it.
Oh my goodness 😮 you’ve hit 25k!!! 🎉🥳 congratulations, Leigh!
Thank you so much!! 🥰💙
I love your sweater

Well, the hippo now has a name for when it's finished lol.
Thanks for the tip! I was thinking of adding a zip, but this might be a bit easier.
Love this video! Cockatiels are my favourite .. i might even own 3 😊😂 going to make loads of these!! ❤
They make such great buddies! My old boy has been gone for a few years now and I still miss his antics.
Love all the cute critters!!!🥰
tysm for making this Iwas looking everywhere to find it cause I buried my 2 birds todayand I also do crochet and im making this for memory of them❤
I'm really sorry for your loss 💙
Love this so much thank you for sharing
My favorite birds are the cardinal and blue jay. But there are a lot of pretty birds out there like the hummingbirds (so many different colors) .💖💖🙏🙏💖💖
Absolutely, so many beautiful bird species out there! Plenty of inspiration for crochet projects :)
You should add a thanks option below with the other options, where your followers could pay you here and there for your work!❤😊
Would love it if you decided to share the pattern for the sleepy cat, but really appreciate the tutorials and paterns you share. Thank you
I'll share them all eventually, I just want to space out different types of video so I'm not repeating the same thing over and over.
Thank you they are so cute ❤
You made that look so easy haha Thankyou so much
Nice job!
Please do more plush yarn! I love it so much!!!
I'll be doing more soon :)
Would love to see an African Grey Parrot pattern as my Mum has one and everyone loves him but he’s getting old x x

Love frogs

What size crochet hook should I use?
How do you make the thing on the top of the head and the cheeks for the cockiteal
The patterns are in the video description.
How would you sew on the cocktail crest?
what hook are you using? it looks nice
It's part of a set of ergonomic hooks I bought on eBay. They're pretty nice to use!

i think im going to make these but without stuffing so they can act as puppets
So cute! Can you link the goldfish pattern at the start?
The goldfish pattern isn't out yet but when it is, I'll update the description with some links.

Yarn over.

@SkeinSpider Thanks 😊

Is there a written pattern available?
Not at the moment.
Sleepy cat, bunny and sea turtle patterns please

The basic pattern is the same and the patterns for the extra detail pieces are in the description.
