Wow, the valve trombone in the front row (and euphonium immediately behind) really contribute to the overall sound of the band. And strong tuba section! Thanks for sharing! 👏👏👏
Yes!!! It had to be my luck that not just one, but three busses drove past all blocking the view and interrupting the sound with their engines and exhausts, so I made the decision to cut the video unfortunately.
It’s a Swedish valve trombone. It has been used in Swedish military bands along with the Swedish Eb cornet among other brass instruments. Usually the old style tenor sections in Swedish had valve trombone on top to help the melody and then baritones/underneath with the harmony while both instrument shares the obligato parts. If played correctly it gives a fabulous sound, very special for Swedish military music!

Saying hi to the tuba player in front of the base drum! Looks good but hard work all that way! Done it years ago... thanks for posting!
12:21 Parademarsch der Spieleute. Why did you cut the video 12:38, did the bus get infront of you?

Vackert ❤
Willing to watch full version of the lockmarsch
What type of trombone do they use on the left front? It seems to be a light version of the combination: The Valve Trombone and The Cimbasso.

Shame about the rain at 25 mins! But the band played on.
What is that trumpet in the front
It is a ventilbassun, a type of traditional Swedish military band instrument. A little bit like a valved trombone.
