Can tell by the colour of his oil when it came out that he changes it regularly! Great video my friend! Changing the oil at more regular intervals will keep your engine great !
Many thanks, I will be following your lead & change oil & filter between 'official service intervals' Oh, to have such a basic dip stick, now the only way to visualise the oil is when its emptied.
It’s a great logic to have but you got to remember it’s a canister filter and when you undo the canister filter you’re letting any oil that’s lodged in the filter or in the housing when you loosen it, you’re allowing that oil to go back down to the pan those eliminating any left over old oil. also being on top if you replace it right away it lowers your chances of forgetting to replace the filter for example if you were in a hurry.. but nothing wrong with your way. Everyone has their own way of doing things you know
Thanks. The access to the filter is now much more difficult than the N54, N55, N20, S55...etc...my tool to open the filter housing is no longer useful!
You are right! Im gonna change oil in mine( X3 m40i b58) these days in Bucharest romania , and the dealer service programe said 5w30 type of oil . My wild guess here is because of continental temperate climate in this part of the world😊
Thanks- quick, appropriately detailed, easy to watch & listen to.

This is my second time having to watch this video before an oil change. Thanks for making it 👍🏾
Good tutorial. I change mine every 6k too. I opt for 0w40 though as I like to push the engine.

great video. straightforward and helpful. thank you
Doesn't anybody used a torque wrench anymore?
Are you supposed to change the filter and then drain the oil as you demonstrated?
Quite admirable and thorough...
Personally I believe draining the oil before changing the filter is better

@@JTRUMBC5775 same result if the drainplug is still off
Need to warm motor before change?
Just a little, not full operating temperature. The hot oil can burn you, so just warm 2-3 minutes is good.

Usw another oil . 5w40
Just between the standard bmw services is it still beneficial to simply change the oil and leave the filter in its place anyway?
I suppose you can, but my OCD will drive me nuts.
Great video my man.. fellow Jamaican ? 🇯🇲
Where did you buy your swivel?
Same for g30 5 series 2017? 540i
Yes. This is a 2016 BMW 340i.
It's much safer to just use an extractor to pump out the oil, since the filter is top mounted.
Should not use that gravity is all you need if so so the quantity changes
Simple. Thank you
Ty
How many mm for the bottom oil nail ???? ( you said filter 32 )
32 mm socket
What is the correct oil to use in a BMW B48 engine?
i bought 0w30 ll04 from bmw itself just to be sure, for my b58, i think b48 is same oil
great video. Thank you.
Nice job.
In Germany BMW recommends 5W-30 for this engine. In which country are you located?
US - 0w20
I’m gonna try to use 0w30 now, I live in north east US
my 2022 B58 came with 0w-20 in the USA
My 320M G20 manual (Brazil) recomends since 0w20 until 5w40 (I use the Last one). Mine is B48B20A stage 1 260whp
You are right!

Thx man awesome!!
What was the Tq setting for the oil filter cap and drain plug?
Both are 18 ft/lbs. Or 25 nm if you use that measurement. Hopefully you got this info from someone else though as you asked 3 months ago!
18 ft/tq
I like to change my oil every 4k
