Nice run. The tunnel at the airport is one of my favorites whether it's on my Harley or rolling down the window listening to the diesel exhaust note. Its a moral imperative.

Enjoyed the trip to FL. Kinda miss driving big rig. Too late for me--already retired. You give a lot of useful tips to newer drivers. Your windshield repair came out real good...looks good as new! God Bless ! + Safe travels! from Southern California.
@@OTRBandit Florida is a nice place for vacations and things of that sort, but living here is a whole Nother matter. I work in the medical field and even that sucks compared to the rest of the country. So I definitely understand what you’re saying.
Hey brother, Really dig that nasty engine break. That's a very good point you made about the speeds going up-and-down hills. And you got that right. That is one pretty truck. I really enjoy watching your videos. It's time to subscribe. The best part about your videos is that I don't feel the stress of the driving like I do when I'm behind the wheel. lol. You take it easy and be safe. Keep the dirty side down.
You riding in my stomping grounds. I pulled containers out of savannah ga and ran tampa and miami a lot. Good thing about containers was they paid round trip empty or loaded. Some say it was cheap freight but I made middle 4 figures and that was as a company driver. It's all the same just watch your bottom line and know how to to do your settlement sheet. I loved it. Wish I wasn't medically retired or I would still be out there still doing it
I’m sorry to hear that you had to retire. You are absolutely right. You just gotta watch your bottom line and you’ll be good. There’s money to still money to be made out here we just gotta watch our spending habits.
You could take US 301 in Florida and avoid some of the stations. 301 will take you right to Tampa practically. Its really cool watching you get into tampa area, all the roads i drive lol
I was in big hurry this trip but I’ll definitely look into taking 301 next time I come to Florida. I would love to move down there but loads are not paying very good from there. My brother in law has to drive from Orlando to Georgia or Alabama to pick up anything decent.
I guess 😂 some guys 👦 like 👍 to fly 🪰 down the hill when they are empty. I can't imagine going down full with 80,000 lbs & a load shifting. Maybe you should do a video for shippers 🤔 🚢 to show them how to load a truck 🚚 evenly in terms of proper weight distribution. Low pay = shitty workers in warehouses = BIG problems problems
I don’t think all of those guys were empty and they were still flying downthat mountain. I think the reason it takes forever to get us loaded and unloaded is because workers are not paid very good and they don’t give a damn about anything.
Now I understand not wanting to “run for free”. But wouldn’t it make sense to take the load and cover fuel/mileage costs backhaul instead of just straight deadhead for $0.00?? Or are you not taking the freight out of principle of the broker rates out of Florida right now. Just curious….
Florida to Kansas City pays less than Chattanooga to Kansas City. I would rather deadhead 600 miles and get more money for same mileage. But half of that trip I’m empty. Florida never pays good. 45K pounds load and they want you to take that for 89 cents a mile. One of your tires blows out because of that weight and you’re losing all your potential profit. To me it’s always better to deadhed than haul something cheap. I’ve deadheded 1200 miles before because loads were cheap and I didn’t want to spend that weekend away from home. Plus every time I go to places like Florida I get paid very good.
It actually does slide, but I cannot slide it forward anymore than this because I have a generator in the back of my sleeper on my catwalk and if I slide it forward, every time I turned somewhere trailer would hit the generator.
If the truck is too heavy, what does that mean? That the load is more the what the bill of lading says? Or your truck is to heavy for the road? I always hear truckers are worried about the scales but I'm not sure what rules are being broken. Just so the revenue collectors can buy more donuts.
Every day semi trucks, that you see out here on the road can be maximum 80,000 pounds heavy.. and that weight needs to be spread around. Maximum weight we can have on our front wheels is 12,000 pounds.. trailer wheels and drive truck wheels can have 34,000 pounds each. Anything over that is overweight and illegal.
Once they start their day, they have to drive as fast as possible to get the in as many miles as possible. They have only 11 hours to drive in one day and sometimes because of that, they drive crazy.
I'm from the west coast, no disrespect sir, but what you call a hill, we call them mountain pass , and don't pump are brakes going down are mountain passes , that would get someone kill

A man once told me to use the same gear going down the hills as you would going up the hill. Good advice.

How many miles do you drive in a week?
Not to many. This week I’ve only done about 2500. Most weeks it’s less than 2500.
