It definitely is, in games like these, or basically anything highly competitive (if your opponent knows what they're doing). :( Hoping new metas in the future will place less importance on this, but with the way TCG Pocket is designed for fast battling/20 cards/3 prize points, it seems that status quo won't change drastically.
Pikachu vs Mewtwo is just one Gardevoir away for it to be a very one-sided match, because Pikachu only need to fill bench while Mewtwo deck needs to evolve two times into Gardevoir, that without any tutor for Stage 1 and Stage 2 Pokemon. I presume Pikachu deck will fall off later the more expansion comes in, while Mewtwo deck will just be more stable.
Definitely an appropriate analysis, I myself am hoping for a lot of variety in the future instead of just seeing mostly “the big 3” decks in the current meta. It’s great that Pocket has already released some new cards, even without a new expansion, this quickly into the Global Launch. Thanks for viewing!
Much agreed. I wonder how this will be when new expansions are released, but for now it seems several decks in the meta are beaten by the coins or other RNG rather than pure skill, but hey, maybe that’s obvious. Thanks for viewing!
Subscribed to this since this is what I want for showcasing deck builds. As I am new to playing TCG specially Pokemon is one of my favorite game. As this is my first time to play TCG and I also have Mewtwo Deck, now I understand how to play it. Make more videos of showcasing the Meta Decks so we can get ideas on how to play it. 😄
I definitely appreciate that support from you and also that concept of learning deck builds. I am committing to doing uploads like this, but I just know I’m a bit slower than average on it because it relies on streamers or other people to leave their VoDs publicly available (not all of them do that) as I sift through tournament stream footage that can last hours. But anyway, here’s another episode of this, to show other decks too, and there’s one more uploaded after it too - th-cam.com/video/-08V7PntFO0/w-d-xo.html
Not all of them have the Basic Zap, though especially “back then” (this tourney was a bit over three weeks ago) they didn’t have decklist you see nowadays, albeit they’re still similar
I'm so glad! If you enjoy this kind of thing, there's another vid from the tourney here (different competitors) - th-cam.com/video/-08V7PntFO0/w-d-xo.html
Man, dat auto-correct (presumably)! Anyway, these are the Top 2 represented decks across all the tourneys I've spectated so far, and I've got a video uploading soon with a 1 or 2 card variation on each of them, and from players who are even better! It'll definitely be worth checking out, but in my mind they're both pretty comparable, but Pikachu EX decks keep being the ones that seem to be in that top #1 spot across the majority of tournaments, and if not #1 they're always in the Top 8 players. Sometimes the win can come down to coin flips on Zapdos or the hand drawn on Mewtwo!
I tried to talk about it in the commentary, the gameplay is from other streams (and for good measure, I linked to the channels where I can). Thanks for viewing
I don’t believe that all players of the game do, but Pikachu EX decks seem to consistently be represented usually by more than one competitor in the Top 8 of just about every tournament, often higher up. The Mewtwo Gardey deck, as another example, is one that is highly-chosen and represented in Top 8 as well!
@@robertterrell7057Am I just stupid? Even when I get Gard out on curve, I lose against Pika ex if I go first, win if I go second. It's literally a coin toss for me, am I missing something?
Hi, im looking for a mewto garvedoir deck to copy. Literally just looking for the best one in the game. Is it this guys deck? I see so many variations and im not sure which one statistically will be the best to win
Hey there! Definitely note that I'm not the most pro or anything, although I've been playing since Soft Launch and have been scoping the various tourneys, good at analysis, etc... so take from that what you will: I think the ultimate point to make with a Mewtwo EX/Gardey deck is the basic idea, and then you can maybe just tool around with a card or two as you see fit. So what I mean is, get the 2 Ralts/Kirlia/Gardevoir and 2 Mewtwo EX cards to start, fill up with Trainer cards, emphasis on Sabrina, Poke Ball, and Professor's Research especially, and then for your remaining few cards, decide what fits your style the best, because as you say, there's a few variations on the deck but we now have the main idea of it with those cards I mentioned. The deck you see from this video got 2nd place in a huge tourney, and there was a first place Mewtwo EX deck in a separate tourney that basically added in a Jynx and a Kangaskhan in place of some duplicate Trainer cards. Play a few matches as you make tweaks and see how it feels each time!
@ thanks for responding. Ive been trying the jynx and kashasgan variant, its been nice. Do u know the full deck for that variation? Did they have 1 or 2 sabrina’s. Since i only have 1 but can buy another one
@@racksontheway659 I think that deck specifically that I referenced was as follows - 2 Ralts, 2 Kirlia, 2 Gardevoir, 2 Mewtwo EX, 1 Jynx, 1 Kangaskhan. Then 2 Professor's Research, 1 Sabrina, 2 Potion, 2 X Speed, 2 Poke Ball, 1 Red Card. The interesting thing here is (and I'll analyze this in upcoming videos probably, if I can spectate any tourneys) that the new promos are already being toyed with to figure out new meta's, and the meta itself will continue to evolve at least a little bit, so even if the core of the "Big 3" meta decks stays largely the same, maybe there will be little intricacies that change it over time.
@@PokemonMasterKendo got it, thank you. I just really hope i can keep up with the meta as a free to play player, thankfully I’ve been lucky with mewto packs and this deck worked out perfectly for me to make. When do you think I should use a red card? How do i know it wont just help them get a card they actually need
Don’t quote me on this, but I think they HAD to, because the tournaments usually require you (I think) to register your deck, ie, you can’t change it during the whole tourney. Thanks for viewing!

ah i see just open Ralts , Kirlia and Guardevoir on curve going second?
seems easy enough lmao
only having one ex zapdos out of two zapdos and not getting the EX one at the start was pretty unlucky rng

cool game, I just see a mewtwo and ff
Mewtwo is bonkers ASF, BROKEN
The crazy thing is that it’s still Pikachu EX at the number one spot of tourneys more than Mewtwo EX decks. But yeah, generally, Mewtwo is crazy!
2 regular zapdos aren't in the deck list?
