I know you guys get annoyed about people speaking English when they shouldn't be, but I think it basically comes down to most movies being in the language that their stars already speak. Viola is American and Boyega is British. If you want these big stars to be in your movies, you can't necessarily expect them to learn an entire new language and gain enough proficiency to do a whole movie in it. You have them speak what they are already fluent in with an accent for "authenticity".

The gay character represented the eunuchs, castrated men who guarded and interacted with the king's wives and concubines. Many societies in the world had such men, such as China and the Ottoman Empire. The last emperor of China,

Hi guys. I loved this movie and loved your review. Like Joseph noted, there were many emotional scenes in this film. I laughed, cried, got angry and even cheered at one point. It really draws you in. The actors were wonderful! Thanks for the wonderful break down. I wouldn't be surprised if Viola Davis gets nominated for this because it was truly moving. She played this role exceptionally well.

Joseph I don't think they're always speaking 'English' in these movies. It's a recurring thing that always gets to you, they're always speaking whatever language of that country. I think as a movie device they just change to English. In some movies they show you this by starting in the language of whatever the place is and transition to English sometimes mid sentence. I think it signifies they're still speaking their language but made for us to understand without subtitles.

The kings assistant is a Eunich. That's why his mannerisms come off that way.

I'm always wary of movies "Based on A True Story" because when you do your research, you find out that the movie embellishes a lot for entertainment purposes.

I’m soooooooo glad y’all brought up the romantic subplot. That didn’t work for me at all. Even though the guy was incredibly hot (like a buff El DeBarge) that part could’ve been left out. The movie was good otherwise. Conventional, but very good. The acting & action sequences were stand outs.
