(Which for some reason look to be what is most likely happening) they are going to create an entirely new Mold for the leader Thundertron
After getting ahold of the figure yesterday. I can confidently say… I have no idea why PE has such an issue with this thing. My only real complains are that most of the transformation is just rotating limb segments and the hind legs could’ve been better engineered. Also, if you want to pose him with the peg leg have the weight of the figure lean on his regular foot more.
I mean isn't it a problem if using the main gimmick of the toy makes it so you have to stand it one particular way on a flat surface. Like my light box is always a little titled back because of the way the clasps for the bottom sit on the table, but it's barely anything, and it made it nearly impossible to get the peg leg standing.
We got this before the prime versions of: -Optimus -Ratchet -Bumblebee -Magnus -Wheeljack -Cliffjumper -Smokescreen -Megatron -Starscream -Breakdown -Arachnid -Soundwave -Shockwave -Predaking -Darksteel -Skylynx -Vehicon (car) -Vehicon (jet) -Vehicon (miner) Prime is in my top 3 TF shows, and of all the characters in it this is one of the few I really don’t want a figure of. And the lion mode looks like ass, so does the transformation. If they had to do this, I really wish it would have the decency to be above a 3/10.

Yes and no. I always say that Cybertronians are Energy Beings wearing Mech Suits. But what value does having a beard offer to a Robots face? It's not like they need to keep that part warm.

The rumoured leader version is interesting to see if it’s this guy again or a different character borrowing the name. We’ve gotten multiple of the same character like Optimus and megatron in legacy but those are big named characters Prime thundertron is a bit obscure so odd we could get a voyager and leader of the same obscure character
Prime's art style, at least in motion gives me an uncanny valley. When they move it looks like the wcf trilogy, and noone wants to be compared to the wcf trilogy
It's still a crime that during Titans Return, Hasbro didn't make a new Sideways, the character whose whole thing is that he's a modern-day Headmaster☠☠. (still the best TF line in the last decade though).
Ill wait for the Thunderhowl version which im 99 percent sure is the main intended use of the tooling. Others say Leobreaker but im not so sure on that one.
Great review PerspectiveEnd!! I'm blinded by nostalgia for missing out on the original Prime Thundertron figure, so I overlook the flaws this new version has. lol Keep on being amazing.
I hate TF: Prime but picked this up because I needed my Transformers fix and ended up liking him. In lion mode I rotate the side skirts around 180° to cover the sides which makes the animal mode sleeker and rotating the thighs 180° will allow the legs to push in closer to the torso. Does anyone else think the head sculpt looks kind of like Jason Momoa?
It's pretty funny that they picked him out of all the TFP characters. Plus, he's pretty much the same appearance as the original. A good figure in my opinion, but it's a bit hollow
I like Transformers, and I like Zoids (Well, Chaotic Century and Guardian Force). I don't particularly want my Transformers to look like Zoids, though.
I dunno what will happen if someone figures out how to balance Thundertron on his peg leg alone, but it might break one of the seven seals the end of the world.
I actually got him standing in that sequence, not only that, but I was confused as to how, because if he had two normal feet, it still shouldn't have worked.
Remember? You still got my name wrong😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 Thanks for the shout out tho man! I expect a correction very soon mister. It’s KAIRIN, not Keerin As a prime fan, this figure make me deliciously happy
Of course And you wrote it in the email as Kyrin, I almost wound up saying QuIrin, but then I was like "Oh this must be how that name Keerin I've heard before is spelled." I'm glad you like the figure more than me.
Happy New Year! I kind of fancy what I see on Thundertron except the facial hair. Like you, I always thought facial hair on robots looked dumb. Besides that, I like that it has a beast mode and a sword accessory; and isn't another Autobot car with a gun. If they retool this character into Razorclaw or Leo Prime (or any character without facial hair), I may actually consider getting it.
Actually made my own Transformers Prime sequel series and the villain is a interesting looking her name is overcharge she's got a single but still has a mouth with her being a lumbering leader class and also being triple changer with her third mode being the famous urban legend the Wendigo
@@PerspectiveEnd sorry I was tired when I made that comment she has a single optic or eye like Shockwave but she still has a mouth and instead of regular or dark Energon she uses omnvos Energon a little type of Energon I cooked up for the story
I like to think that the removable foot is a prostetic that he only carrys around for beast mode cause it impedes in robot mode combat as he put a blaster in his peg leg... Also got my hands on tazmania kid, and hes an awesome little bastard, probably the best core beast former...
@@PerspectiveEnd what i am saying is for cat mode, he uses the removeable foot to aid in mobility, however in robot mode, he uses the peg leg for combat Also i found my taz kid at target, so it would not suprise me if other retailers get him in a few weeks from now
Those hind feet in "lion mode" upsets me, and I think it's because that is not how big cat feet do. But I guess them cheaping out on the joint/parts count to get digitigrade feet would be "too much" for the Has Bros.
Having the original and the new one, I can safely say the new one improves two aspects over the original: 1. The Legacy version features improved articulation (wrist swivels, waist rotation and deep knee and elbow bends) and 2. An actual Sword and not the flimsy “Mech Tech” sword thingy. My biggest complaints are the colors (I prefer the lighter shades of blue as well as the Sea-foam Green Highlights) and the Head Sculpt. I know the Legacy Version shipped out around Christmas but he does not rock the “Santa Head” very well compared to the Original Head. One major issue I found is that the plastic around his feet can be quite brittle as I had broke my First copies foot while putting his foot back on. My second copy has looser QC (Does not pass the Kup test lol).
Yeah a lot of people have told me how bad the original Mech Tech one was. Really, I never would have guessed the plastic was brittle, sorry to hear about yours.
It’s okay, I applied too much pressure when I tried to put his foot back on. The plastic quality of the Original vs the Modern is actually quite different
Something that helps the lion mode look slightly better is if you turn the thighs around and you can bring the legs closer to the body. It’s not much but it helps😅
I think I've just ended up head-cannoning Robo-Beards as something Cybertronians choose to give themselves as a sign of status and age, modelled from concepts they adopted while interacting with alien cultures, kinda like how gender works in the Aligned continuity. It's dumb only makes like 5% more sense then absolutely no explanation, but I can at least look at characters like Alpha Trion now without being incredibly confused, now I'm only moderately confused. The peg leg, though? I got nothing. He's a pirate, it's not like he couldn't just- steal one from someone else if he somehow couldn't find the parts. One of Legacy's other star seekers is literally Lockdown, who is also a junkion weaponizer?
HIs head looks like a squid. I feel like he's the elder version in the tribe original thundertron is from. I still want it though. That said apparently this wave of voyagers isn't coming to Australia and I missed out on the Singapore pre-order :/ I'm guessing the leader capsule version will be this, in black or green with a bunch of bits
It's not exactly Thundertron, but I did get Legacy Tasmania Kid recently, and he's a lot more fun than I was previously expecting, I recommend getting him. If you're bothered that Tasmania Kid is from a Transformers Anime, treat him instead as Beast Wars Snarl, as they're both the exact same design, just one's from America and the other from Japan.
Outta curiosity could this ever be retooled into a Leo breaker from cybertron? I just have no idea how they would engineer an arm mode for the prime combination.
I just do not get the complaint about Transformers having facial hair. Nothing about Transformers physiology makes any sort of sense. It is not a hard science fiction series, and it is not realistic. It is all style and all fantasy. So why does it matter to people? I like the beards and capes and trench coats. I want more please lmao
I'd disagree. If they don't vocalize with Traditional Speakers, mouths make sense, if they have the ability to smell, then a nose is not a bad way to do it, if they need depth perception then binocular vision is a good way to go about it. They how ever do not need a warm lower face.
@@PerspectiveEnd 1) why would a robot need to smell? Why not have something that can detect particals on a atomic scale instead? It would be more accurate 2) by stop at binocular vision? More eyes and 360% would be better 3) Mouths actually don't make sense, as speakers would be more efficient 4) why do they have gender, human emotions, and souls? None of these make any sense for an alien species of robots. 5) why do they have two arms and two legs and are structured like apes? That structure seems arbitrary and mostly just there to make them more relatable to humans watching this shows/movies/comics/games/ect. I have to make this clear: I like all of this stuff. I want these robots to basically be giant humans lol. But you can't say they are realistic in any way. And that's okay. They are better when they aren't Also, weren't you defending mass shifting? What the fuck is that if not straight up magic?? You don't have to like beards on transformers. But they are not any less logical than massshifting giant metal humans who can turn into space vehicles which conveniently size to real world cars, planes, boats, and so on, who feel all our emotions (including lust), and are male, female, and non-binary. Nothing about any of this is realistic at all
Use to own the original figure... I felt same as you I sold him. I got Go Prime, and liked it. I want see if this new figure makes me like it a little bit more.
The only thing about this figure that I like is the lore behind the Lion mode. If I remember right, one of the designers said that he crash landed on the planets where the Zoids are and he scanned one for his alt mode. Like that is genuinely cool. Other than that? Nah. This thing does NOT represent the Prime design and aesthetic WHATSOEVER, and I'm baffled as to how they downgraded from the original toy THIS HARD.
I don’t have any strong emotions about this figure so instead I’ll just tell a short story. Apparently if you make on offer on an eBay listing and the seller accepts it then the website will automatically pay for the item without telling you. I found this out because I thought I lost a Flamewar when her listing disappeared and swiftly bought a different Flamewar. I’m now the proud? owner of two Shattered Glass Flamewars.
@@PerspectiveEnd They only changed for each figure once. It just didn’t notify me that the first one happened so I bought the second one on my own.
I’m curious if he’ll end up being another Siege Shockwave incident.
It would be extra weird if they invented a new character to have the name Thundertron.
Prime's art style, at least in motion gives me an uncanny valley. When they move it looks like the wcf trilogy, and noone wants to be compared to the wcf trilogy
Honestly I'd give the WFC Trilogy the Edge, just because they had better lighting.
lol
lets hope in 2024 we get an aarmada sideways because the figure that needs an update is the one that was NEVER reissued.
It's still a crime that during Titans Return, Hasbro didn't make a new Sideways, the character whose whole thing is that he's a modern-day Headmaster☠☠. (still the best TF line in the last decade though).
They are sure dragging their feet on that.
Ill wait for the Thunderhowl version which im 99 percent sure is the main intended use of the tooling. Others say Leobreaker but im not so sure on that one.
I never considered any retools of this so both of those seem unlikely to me.
i have a feeling this character will be made into leobreaker
and, i thought these guys were supposed to come out on January, not late december
I got mine in early december
Amazon Had them early. They won't be on my Best or Worst of year list because they shouldn't be from this year.
@@PerspectiveEnd that’s, strange.
I have a Feeling that the leader class version Will be better painted, red eyes too, with extra stuff
Why the red eyes/
@@PerspectiveEnd the box art of his original toy,the concept art you used and the original toy has red eyes
Great review PerspectiveEnd!! I'm blinded by nostalgia for missing out on the original Prime Thundertron figure, so I overlook the flaws this new version has. lol Keep on being amazing.
I hope that you still enjoy the figure even if you agree with me.
@@PerspectiveEndI will most definitely enjoy having Thundertron in my collection. :D
Oh my dear blessed cow, I did not think you would have 11 pages of comments on showZ. I liked them all
Thank you kind sir, this does help me.
Can’t unsee the Jason part……..
I'm happy to hear that you are enjoying it more than me, and I can kind of see what you are on about with the Jason Momoa thing.
It's pretty funny that they picked him out of all the TFP characters. Plus, he's pretty much the same appearance as the original. A good figure in my opinion, but it's a bit hollow
It's the transformation and altmode that really get me with this thing.
4:12 I heard u can extend the back skirt thingy and get a better wrist swivel
I have not been told that by anyone but you at this point.
I was thinking about giving my Transformers OC a beard like mine, but I think I'll just keep his face clean if you hate TF facial hair that much.
You can do what you want, you don't have to change it for me.
I never expected this to be good and I already was unenthusiastic about this so it’s good to see someone I can agree with
Happy to voice the thoughts in your head.
@@PerspectiveEndyeah fr
For me, transformers and anime do go together, I love the Japanese transformers 😀
And that's perfectly fine, it's just not my thing.
Oh yeah I heavily recommend legacy united bumblebee he has good articulation and a fun transformation
I'm trying to find it.
This toy is awesome just for the Zoids canon crossover alone 😭 I want more Transformers and Zoids characters!!!
That is the best argument as to why someone likes this that I've seen.
As a person who doesn't like transformers prime but have Friends who like the show I feal bad. Some people need justice.
Yeah, prime fans deserved better.
His alt mode looks like a rat dressed up like a tiger
You ain't wrong.
Great review. Happy New Year)
Thank you, and Happy New Year!
I like Transformers, and I like Zoids (Well, Chaotic Century and Guardian Force).
I don't particularly want my Transformers to look like Zoids, though.
I tend to agree.
Another banger video! Thanks for saving me money!
Happy to hear I've done so!
1. Mouth Plates was the OG robot beard before we got robot beards(also Optimus def has a blue caveman strap under his mouthplate...BET
And they are the superior alternative to beards as well.
@@PerspectiveEnd I don't mind the Robot beards myself but I def see how it throws off the "intended" aesthetic!!
I dunno what will happen if someone figures out how to balance Thundertron on his peg leg alone, but it might break one of the seven seals the end of the world.
I actually got him standing in that sequence, not only that, but I was confused as to how, because if he had two normal feet, it still shouldn't have worked.
1:40 More accurately, scraped pirate in favor of *DRAGON* (Tho I do like their Predaking)
They did, and it was an Upgrade in my opinion.
good video to begin a new year
I'm glad you enjoyed this for your new year.
Remember?
You still got my name wrong😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Thanks for the shout out tho man!
I expect a correction very soon mister.
It’s KAIRIN, not Keerin
As a prime fan, this figure make me deliciously happy
Of course
And you wrote it in the email as Kyrin, I almost wound up saying QuIrin, but then I was like "Oh this must be how that name Keerin I've heard before is spelled."
I'm glad you like the figure more than me.
Thank you so much man!
I just hope it helps.
@PerspectiveEnd hope so bu it's cool I got a shout out anyway
that head has alpha trion all over it
Agreed. 100%
Happy New Year. I don't see them making it a Leo Prime, but I'm hearing people Theorize Leobreaker.
Actually made my own Transformers Prime sequel series and the villain is a interesting looking her name is overcharge she's got a single but still has a mouth with her being a lumbering leader class and also being triple changer with her third mode being the famous urban legend the Wendigo
She has a Single What? I think you left that part out?
@@PerspectiveEnd sorry I was tired when I made that comment she has a single optic or eye like Shockwave but she still has a mouth and instead of regular or dark Energon she uses omnvos Energon a little type of Energon I cooked up for the story
I like to think that the removable foot is a prostetic that he only carrys around for beast mode cause it impedes in robot mode combat as he put a blaster in his peg leg...
Also got my hands on tazmania kid, and hes an awesome little bastard, probably the best core beast former...
I've yet to find the Tasmanian Kid, but I'm looking, and are you saying only in cat mode does he have a peg leg?
@@PerspectiveEnd what i am saying is for cat mode, he uses the removeable foot to aid in mobility, however in robot mode, he uses the peg leg for combat
Also i found my taz kid at target, so it would not suprise me if other retailers get him in a few weeks from now
Those hind feet in "lion mode" upsets me, and I think it's because that is not how big cat feet do.
But I guess them cheaping out on the joint/parts count to get digitigrade feet would be "too much" for the Has Bros.
I did slightly mis transform this. Those two Outer Toes aren't supposed to be there, they flip to the back.
goatta say, this figure works better as a RED figure than a transformer
That's what I'm saying.
Wouldn't that make the knees bend the wrong way?
No sir just use the thigh swivel and the swivel above the knee to turn just the thigh around so the hollow part is facing the inside of the lion mode
I’ll probably still get this.
I just hope you like it.
Man it is so weird to hear that Hasbro is just like "No Voyagers for Australia" what is going on in their heads.
I am trying to find him, I just have yet to.
The next video you post is going to be on my birthday January 3 so that’s a fun present
Happy soon to be Birthday!
Outta curiosity could this ever be retooled into a Leo breaker from cybertron? I just have no idea how they would engineer an arm mode for the prime combination.
I think there is the potential for that yes. Though I doubt they will bother with the arm combination.
@@PerspectiveEnd it would have to be a future commander class cybertron optimus
Or leader we don't know yet
Question! Will you be getting any Yolopark ROTB models? Specifically Scourge (heard amazing things about it).
Not really planning on it no.
@@PerspectiveEnd alrighty! I’ll let you know how Scourge is once mine comes in! Hope you’re having a great day dude!
The Star Raider variant of this figure has a much better head sculpt. And a hook hand. Everything else is just the same.
Fr
My Thundertron had both front alt mode feet break so now mine has one leg.
@@PerspectiveEnd
1) why would a robot need to smell? Why not have something that can detect particals on a atomic scale instead? It would be more accurate
2) by stop at binocular vision? More eyes and 360% would be better
3) Mouths actually don't make sense, as speakers would be more efficient
4) why do they have gender, human emotions, and souls? None of these make any sense for an alien species of robots.
5) why do they have two arms and two legs and are structured like apes? That structure seems arbitrary and mostly just there to make them more relatable to humans watching this shows/movies/comics/games/ect.
I have to make this clear: I like all of this stuff. I want these robots to basically be giant humans lol. But you can't say they are realistic in any way. And that's okay. They are better when they aren't
Also, weren't you defending mass shifting? What the fuck is that if not straight up magic??
You don't have to like beards on transformers. But they are not any less logical than massshifting giant metal humans who can turn into space vehicles which conveniently size to real world cars, planes, boats, and so on, who feel all our emotions (including lust), and are male, female, and non-binary. Nothing about any of this is realistic at all
Happy New Year PE!
Happy New Year!
Use to own the original figure... I felt same as you I sold him. I got Go Prime, and liked it. I want see if this new figure makes me like it a little bit more.
I doubt that you will feel any more affection for this.
I like thundertron but I wish they did more with the pirate vibe I would like him more if they made him look more like a pirate then he does.
Yeah, I get almost nothing of Pirate off this.
Thundertron...more like thundercrap😂
Thunderous Fart.
Did you know that the sword """""combines"""" with the foot to make a dummer sword
I did not. That sounds stuipd.
Man I can't believe I called a Zoids connection without knowing it.
Wait, does that mean they charged you twice?
@@PerspectiveEnd They only changed for each figure once. It just didn’t notify me that the first one happened so I bought the second one on my own. They were only $35 a piece so I’m not losing sleep over it, just a little bit annoyed. On a TOTALLY unrelated note, if you want a Flamewar to review I might be able to hook you up with one.
I’ve been a big fan of tfp meaning I’ll get this despite him not being much of a character but I like his design.
I just hope you wind up liking it.
This is in the Prime universe?!?!?!!
He never showed up in the show, but he was intended to be the Villain of Season 4.
Perspective i got kingdom blaster for my birthday was it a good choice?
I'd say yes. That's a really solid figure. Hope you love it.
It’s almost like you have the lion mode miss transformed
