- The Wii U was home to many games of subpar quality... but hands down, one of the biggest disasters of the Wii U era was when SEGA slapped us with Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric... This is known to be THE WORST Wii U game of all time... so I played the entire thing in one sitting to challenge that...

The reason it performs so poorly is because the studio that made it, Big Red Button, designed it for the PS4 And Xbox One, not the weaker WiiU, so they had very little time to optimise it well because Sega wanted it on the WiiU. The whole development was a mess.
So interesting… makes sense
also pretty sure the engine wasnt supported by the WiiU

Meme Run is such a classic Wii U game. Shame it does not exist anymore.

The Sonic Boom TV show I found to be fun to watch but the games on wiiu and 3ds are another story.
I think it's pretty obvious that the show is better than the games on Nintendo. Now the mobile game...

The game wasn't even supposed to be a Sonic Boom title to begin with, but Sega basically forced them to make it one and also forced them to exclusively develop it for Wii U which is why the game runs so poorly as the CryEngine was not natively compatible with the hardware.

I actually played through it and beat it when I was 10 and never encountered a single glitch at all.

Future me here. It’s mostly been like 2-3 years I think since I last played it. I didn’t bother with hard mode since when I originally finished. I was finished. I wanted to get back to playing more super Mario 3D world (childhood classic).

Maybe not the absolute worst game on the system, but it's definitely one of the worst full priced games on it. I mean, this game at launch cost almost the same as Super Mario 3D World, one of the best games on the system.

Sonic Boom is the reason I got a Wii U, and possibly my favorite of any 3D sonic in general. It has the overall vibe akin to a PS2 platformer and that's the kind of game I've always wanted. The whole unpolished thing was really the result of the devs working too hard on it, and being told that it was stuck on a console they weren't intending it for at last minute. But I believe much of the hate stemmed from the false belief that it was a reboot
You're the one always bashing people in Nintendo comment sections right? You're always saying that their favorite console has no games and that them buying the NS is a waste of money. This possibly being your favorite 3D Sonic really shows your credibility 😂

I wonder how things would've turned out differently had this game been both good and successful. I can definitely see it being treated the same as DmC (2013) or Metal Gear Rising, games that are fine on their own but not widely accepted at the time of release by fans.
My experience with Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric:
I found it and rented it from the library none the wiser. I played my first sitting and was intrigued, but every sitting afterwards just got more and more repetitive. I started seeing the cracks more. There was also a point in the game I got lost, but I eventually found my way boy wandering around. And then, I finally managed to drag myself to the end of the game... except I couldn't finish it, because the library copy would always crash towards the end of the final boss. I had to return the game, but I could never pick it up again because the library lost all their copies. The end

@@SFproductions1 It was kinda a time waster looking back at it now at 13 years old.I mean the story is kinda a mess. Sonic’s crew isn’t fast in normal (boring) combat. And…and… I don’t remember anything else.
I can never forgive Sanzaru for scrapping the development of Sly Cooper 5 for this game.

Haven’t played fire and ice but I played shattered crystal and trust me that game is so slow paced it’s not even worth trying
As someone who has played games that are bad, and enjoyed them. If we had owned a wiiU and not just wii, I would have probably enjoyed this game.

Game is broken but you can still get some enjoyment just like "The Letter". Kinda crazy that Lyric never appeared in the show.
As the WiiU expert, I am going to share what I think can be the contender for being the worst.
Jackpot 777 - for its lack of value
A 7.77$ on launch for just spinning a slot machine. The game doesn’t save your score neither has an objective. The initial price is funny but that’s all.
Family Party 30 Great Games : Obstacle Course - for its dreadful gameplay and stupidly force the integration of the GamePad for no reason. (Wiimote & nunchuck gameplay are also weirdly design and trash.)
Monster High : 13 Wishes - just the most boring game, takes no risk and the level design is the most uninspired of all time. (I yawned multiple times when I tried it.)
I beat sonic forces 8 times on nintendo switch because I didn't have any other sonic games for nearly 2 years

Me: the Wii has the worst games in history the 3rd party offerings are nothing but shovelware slop, some 1st party stuff like dk barrel blast, Pokémon battle revolution, Mario party 9, casual crap like Wii play, Wii motion, Wii party, Wii music
The problem was more the game came frist out than the show where i live and that game remember a lot other game i play skylanders xd

Great video Russ, ive watched the show and seen the game before but never played it. Im glad I've never gotten it, if it performs this badly. Now, if u gave it to me as a younger kid, it'd be a different story. Since now, im an adult, lol

Well, at least this game's not as bad as 06 am I right.
I mean at least 06 played like a sonic game and had a decent story, and ran at a stable 60 fps. The fps in rise of lyric makes it unbearable to me.
