  • Hey guys, this is Sam. Like many of you, I was impressed by Jess Liu Cheng's demo of the Rabbit R1. Jess Liu is the inventor of this innovative device, which is one of the first AI-powered phones-or more accurately, a phone/assistant hybrid. As a tech enthusiast from Quebec, Montreal, Canada, I'm excited to share my spontaneous feedback and experiences with the Rabbit R1.
    First Impressions
Moving on to my initial experience with the device, the design, although made of plastic, was quite appealing. The orange color, designed by Teenage Engineering, stood out and gave the phone a unique look. However, the lack of a touchscreen and the reliance on a scroll wheel for navigation was a bit challenging. The AI vision feature, which allows the camera to recognize objects, was particularly impressive and fun to use.
    AI Vision Feature
One of the standout features of the Rabbit R1 is its AI vision, or "AI Eye." This feature allows the camera to recognize objects and provide detailed information about them. For example, when I pointed the camera at a dog, it correctly identified it as a long-haired Chihuahua. This feature is incredibly fun and useful for identifying objects around you, making it a standout tool for AI enthusiasts. You can see a demo of this feature in action [here]( • rabbit r1 Unboxing and... ).
    Usability and Features
The setup process was hectic and not very user-friendly. The battery came empty, which was a major inconvenience. Despite these issues, there were some notable positives:
    - Design and Build: The design is visually appealing and unique.
    - AI Vision: This feature is useful and quite advanced.
    - Cost: At $200 USD, it offers an affordable entry point into AI-assisted technology.
    - No Subscription Fees: Unlike some competitors, there are no ongoing costs to access the AI features.
However, the Rabbit R1 has significant areas for improvement:
    - No Touchscreen: The lack of a touchscreen made navigation cumbersome.
    - Basic Features Missing: Basic functionalities like setting alarms, reminders, and a seamless user interface were lacking.
    - Battery Life: The battery life was disappointing, requiring frequent recharges.
    Blockchain and Crypto Potential
As a blockchain and crypto enthusiast, I was particularly interested in testing the Rabbit R1's potential in this area. Here are a few tests I conducted:
    1. Current Bitcoin Price: The Rabbit R1 provided an accurate current price of Bitcoin, matching real-time data from other sources.
    2. Decentralized Finance (DeFi) Explanation: When asked to explain DeFi for a five-year-old, the Rabbit R1 described it as a magical piggy bank that anyone can use without needing adult supervision, using special programs called smart contracts.
    3. Proof-of-Work vs. Proof-of-Stake: The device accurately explained the difference between these two consensus mechanisms, highlighting the energy-intensive nature of Proof-of-Work and the energy efficiency of Proof-of-Stake.
    Pros and Cons
    Pros:
    - Affordable Price: At $200 USD, it's an accessible entry into AI technology.
    - Unique Design: The eye-catching orange design by Teenage Engineering.
    - No Subscription Fees: One-time cost with no additional fees.
    - AI Vision: A standout feature that adds significant value.
    Cons:
    - Battery Life: Needs improvement to ensure longer usage times.
    - Navigation: The lack of a touchscreen makes it less user-friendly.
    - Basic Features Missing: Essential functionalities like setting alarms and reminders are not included.
    - Setup Process: The initial setup is complex and could be streamlined.
    Conclusion
In conclusion, the Rabbit R1 is a promising device with several innovative features, but it also has areas that need improvement. As a tech enthusiast, I appreciate its potential, especially in the context of blockchain and crypto applications. However, the device's usability and battery life issues are significant drawbacks.
Overall, I would rate the Rabbit R1 a 6 out of 10, acknowledging its innovative aspects while noting the areas that need enhancement. I'm looking forward to seeing how future updates and versions will improve upon this foundation.
    Live Test
To wrap up, let's conduct a live test of the Rabbit R1's AI assistant capabilities with some blockchain and crypto questions:
    1. "What's the current price of Bitcoin in USD?"
    2. "Explain decentralized finance (DeFi) for a beginner."
    3. "What are the differences between Proof-of-Work and Proof-of-Stake?"
Stay tuned to see how well the Rabbit R1 performs in these tests. Thanks for watching, and don't forget to like and subscribe for more tech reviews and insights. Love you all and take care!
