@supaHaf Yes, Atrus is only 1/4 D'ni, but lived as long as regular D'ni. Yeesha, who is only 1/8th D'ni, also seems to have similar long life (by the time of Myst V, she's 190 years old). Catherine is Rivenese, and we don't know how long they live. The intro to Myst V makes it clear she is dead by then, but we don't know when she died (or when she was born for that matter).
Interesting. I had always assumed that the trap memory at approximately 6 1/2 minutes was that of a mangree, not a kahrnak. The sounds seemed distinctly mangree-like, although I admit the bones are not a good match. The fact that the medallion picked up a mangree memory - I had always assumed this was proof that the mangrees were sentient, and therefore further proof of the weight of Achenar's crimes in slaughtering them when he first arrived in the Age.
That transition of hang-gliding with the tent was so weird - I could never figure out how you fell off the cliff and blew into the jungle like that. The camera's too disorienting in that scene to make any sense out of it.
9:44 Yes of course it was necessary to show that. Every specially designed cut scene adds atmosphere to this beautiful age. This one shows how dreadfully destructive Achenar was, leading up to the revelation that he single-handedly wiped out an entire species. [The Cerpatee]
too bad that non of the brothers mentioned in their diaries how they tried to trick the stranger to be able to get out of the prison books.was little bit disappointed :(
I have a question: if I recall correctly, Atrus is only 1/4 D'ni, right? Yet he still lives for as long as a normal D'ni? And what about Catherine? She seems to be human, so they couldn't have share their whole life with each other... is this ever explained?
I have no idea. The shout itself may have scared away some animals so they wouldn't be hit by the tree, even though they couldn't understand the word. I don't think Achenar would have minded if an animal got caught under the falling tree, though.
This is common behavior for people who are isolated for long periods of time. Singing to themselves, shouting while working - it's a way to relieve boredom and feel less alone.

I think the Zeftyr accidentally pulls the tent over the player.
nobody knows who the stranger is, but I do. It is you..you are the stranger who was first seen in myst.

If a tree falls in the jungle and Achenar isn't there to yell "timber", does it make a sound?
thats a pretty strong wind to pick up the tent with ya in it
I already used that title for one of the Let's Play Riven videos. :-)
When the camoudile came, I was honestly scared that I made a wrong move, and the game was going to end right there. :O
@Dilandau3000 ahh, I forgot Catherine was Rivenese... thanks anyway, I really like your vid's, I think your style is perfect for these games^^

i hate the jungle I always get lost
I think maybe you meant Gehns n Roses...
Why did he yell timber if he was the only one in the age?

Will T I think it was more of a way to celebrate that he cut the tree down and not to warn anybody that the tree was falling.
