MR2 Spyder Soft Top Glass Fell Out!

- Apparently it is not uncommon for the glass rear window to come loose from a soft top. That is what has happened to my Toyota MR2 Spyder. In this video I figure out how to reinstall the glass.

Not sure if you are still monitoring this or not. My glass just fell out and going to give this repair a shot the same way, same ahesive. Do you still have the car? Did the adhesive bond ever fail?
The glass was great as long as I had it. The person after me replaced the top with a hard top. So not sure on long term.
Thanks, I have a hard top for mine too but when summer rolls around here in Colorado, I'd really like to use the soft on those nice days. I think I might get a friend to help me position the glass and place a thick bead of the adhesive around the whole thing and do it all at once instead of 1/2 at a time like you did. Like you said, beats spending $600 on a new top and two days installing it myself or spending $1000 to have a pro put it on. Worth a shot. Appreciate the reply.
Also, how much glue was left over? I’m thinking of using the same glue to install the metal ring, AND the glass. Suppose I’ll have enough glue? Thanks!
You probably would have enough to do both. I would also say be liberal with your glass application. I did end up with a leak. You can always scrape extra off.
Do you still do autocross with the Spyder? Wondering how's the new bc coilovers help with the autocross event
I have not been to one since installing the coil overs yet. From my own spirited driving though I can tell you they are a HUGE improvement. Should make a big difference when I finally get a weekend when I can go to another event.
OMG this just happened to my 2002, literally 2weeks ago! 110 degree weather, after work came out to the exact same situation.

Hello! i recently saw your video of your MR2 crash, but prior to the crash have you had any issues after fixing your rear window? Thank you!
And did you let it cure over night on one side then did the other side and let it cure, making it a two over night process?
@@IlesStellae Yes I gave it time between doing each side so it had time to cure. I did not use enough of the glue though and had some separation that let water in. I came back and caulked the edge with the sealant and that was perfect. Holding up really well.

How is the windowweld glue holding up? Have any leaks appeared? And thanks for making the video. My spyder did the exact same thing on Thursday this week!
I did have a leak. I went back and used more of the adhesive to seal it up around the edges.

I had to come back and add more sealant after what was seen in this video. After that no problems at all.
Happened to me to on my 2000 spyder. Took it to a shop that said the whole top had to be replaced and that the total cost would be around 2kUSD. I ended up buying a cloth top with window supports for $600 and installing it myself in a weekend.
At least you got a new top out of it.

Not the hardest repair. Use a lot of the glue when you do it so you don't get any leaks.
