Dude i am so stoked i found this video. I was having the exact same issue with my Winchester safe. I followed the video and BAM, works like a charm again. Thanks bro!
I have a 26 gun Winchester safe I bought in 2012. I just bought another from Tractor Supply. My original has bars on top and bottom as well as either side. I was a little surprised to see that. Thx for the tip on the solenoid
You're welcome! My dad has two Canon safes from Tractor Supply, one works fine and the other one started sticking like mine. Looks like I'll be fixing it at some point.
I liked your video the best so far so i will drop this gem here....... In my experience with these gun safes if your latch is not turned all the way to the left it can bind up the actuator. I tested this several times with the door apart watching the internals. If the large door wheel latch is resting on the actuator latch, when you punch in your code it will not pop. I suspect this causes it to bind up inside the atuator since it makes a different shorter sound. Make sure your door wheel is all the way to the left before opening.
Makes me feel a little better about the quality of my safe knowing it has a relocker. When I was researching online how to fix it the reviews weren't great on these Winchester safes. Thanks for the feedback!
I end up buying the Union safe from Harbor freight 300 dollars 💸 out the🚪 with coupons had it for almost 2 years now it’s electronic n 🔑 open I’m always messing around with my guns n rifles doing mods on them I open it pretty often so far been working excellent was about to buy this Winchester seen a lot of bad reviews n the union safe was way cheaper at the time🤙🏽
Having a key as a backup is a great piece of mind. How many guns does it hold? I came across all the bad reviews when I was trying to find what was wrong with mine. 🙄
@@rgrtv8677 sometimes u get unlucky i guess i like to search tools etc. Before buying pretty much best bang for your buck 🤷🏽♂️were not rich so like to spend money wisely it works most of the time lol it's a 10 gun safe with the rifle organizer stick they go in the barrel they stand straight pretty dope lol i have 15 rifles well stacked not on top of each other i think i can fit 2 more comfortable 🤣💯🤙🏽
I just bought Winchester 26 this weak . I know older ones had no backup keys mine came with two key . You turn key pad to where battery is and lock for key is behind key pad
Thankfully I haven't had any more issues with mine. My Dad has two of the same Canons from tractor supply, one sticks and one is fine🙄. A locksmith told me good safes come with Sargent & Greenleaf locks, but those safes get pricey.
Run from cannon, my cannon failed closed still cannot get in it, has to be drilled open. Cannon customer service sucks, spend your money on a Liberty with a manual lock, no electronic crap.
@@komaramaat the end of the day, if they want in they will. I spoke w a guy and saw photos of a crazy ex that sawed his liberty around the lock mechanism and broke in
Granted you throughly cleaned all moving parts it should be fine. The last thing you want is it seize up again. Also make sure using an oil which doesn't gunk up as it's tiny forces needed to unsecure the swing bolt. Perhaps lock oil is best suitable. Another idea could be shield it with some plastics so that dirt (it will get behind the panel!) doesn't sit on the swing bolt mechanism and attracted by the lubicant. Looks like most sving bolt mechanisms should work though.... Would be odd if it used non standard footprints. And it probably could benefit from a higher grade lock by a trusted manufacturer not using a solonoid. Solonoids just have too many weaknesses although in a real safe they're not as easy to bypass as "grocery store 'safes'".
@@rgrtv8677 There is actually two security door adjusters inside on the top and bottom. I unscrewed them and slided them forward and then tightened back up. No more rattle
technically not a safe if 2 people can easily carry it away. i encapsulated mine in the closet 2x4s plywood and spray foamed entirely, take a thief longer then is safe being there to figure out how to remove it
Idk but mines won't close thought something was in the way causing it not to close but 🤷🤦. Will this work for it not closing? Guess it doesn't hurt to try
I'm not sure never got a long beep with mine. Try changing the battery and reset your code with a new one. Maybe that will reset everything, worth a shot anyway.
Keypad is worn out, and the correct code is not registering. You probably need to replace the keypad, and while you’re at it, refurbish the locking mechanism as shown in this video, because it will eventually stick.
Dry graphite lubricant would be my next choice. Anything that won't attract dirt and gum up the mechanism. Honestly I think just cleaning everything with alcohol would fix it.
Do you think you could manually by pass the keypad and just apply power to the solenoid to open the safe? My keypad just crapped out and got a new from Winchester but it’s not working. I see there’s a slot for the override key but I don’t have that.
The TS26-45 suffers from a very dangerous bypass vulnerability. Do not buy this safe and store it in the same place as with Small Children; you're begging for an incident =(.
Horrible china made safes, The keypad and locking mech are not UL tested or listed and will fail at some point. Also that safe can be pryed open in under 2 minutes, plenty of youtube videos to back that up....

Excellent "how to" video, well lighted, clear audio with excellent camera angles! Thanks!
Thank you for this video. You helped me fix my Win safe.
You're welcome! My safe is still working good as new.

Mine had the same problem. I fixed mine by replacing the lock with an S&G mechanical lock. It is now more reliable and more secure.
I would love to know how to do this. I hate the electronic keypad crap
My problem is I’m locked out. If it opens up I can sure fix the relocker..
That spring loaded Rod is called a relocker very common in all types of safes. They're not always used in low end safes.
Makes me feel a little better about the quality of my safe knowing it has a relocker. When I was researching online how to fix it the reviews weren't great on these Winchester safes. Thanks for the feedback!
to bad the one i picked up today does not have the relocker
Good tip. The best fix is the one you do on your own and look at the money you saved to buy more fishing gear.
Absolutely! The quote I got from the locksmith was $275. You can buy a really nice rod and reel with that money.

@@chinov9445 That's pretty good. Usually safes hold less than what they're rated for. I store my rifle bolts on the shelf, they fit much better.

Will have to try it.
Outstanding video. Helped so much

Hopefully I won't have any more issues but my next safe will be one with a keyed backup.

Hero. Thanks
Mine was burning through batteries, they sent new set up, couldn't get through with the # had to email
Heck yeah buddy. 18 month old Winchester is doing same thing. Thank you !! Ordered some reel magic-fixing it. Selling it getting a Canon.

Cannon just as bad . Any box store safes have lock issues

Mine too! Very frustrating and very disappointed in Winchester! To those who may see this take my advice and buy a different brand of safe
Hoping this is my issue. Keypad seems to work, but lock will not engage after turning the handle.

Had mine for about 10 years, no issues. Maybe this could be a preventive maintance?
i got one too. its so annoying they dont give you a option to turn the beep off
what u do when u cant get door open
People get locked out, show us what lever needs to be pulled to get in.
Better luck than me with my $2000 Winchester Ranger Deluxe safe. I just replaced the keypad and still can’t get into it.
I just bought the TS26-45 from tractor supply. Is the door suppose to have play in it when fully locked? It’s kind of annoying.
Mine was the same way. I put some little felt bumpers on the door. No more rattle while punching in my code.

Nice video. Any idea why I would get one long beep and safe won’t open after correct code is entered?

My safe beeps 2 twice but will not unlock...yours did same thing?
Yep. I changed the battery first but it didn't help.
Do you know how to turn off the keypad beep ?
That’s safe is already open I need to get in my safe that is closed
I knew I was going to regret this digital crap
Put the right type of battery in it
So I’m just locked out forever 😭

When I punch in my last number it flash’s several times
The only time that happens with mine is when I put my code in wrong. Did you try changing the battery and resetting your code? Might be worth a shot.
Change out the battery. 😅
How long did you have the safe before it started acting up
I think it was just over 2 years.
