Speedy recovery for your dad Chris. Regarding the watch... oh boy... Let me just say, not a fan. The interaction you had with the store owner is very much in line with the thought that was put into the design of this ... thing. It might be a copy of some very complicated watch, maybe a Vacheron. That might go to explain some of the subdials and markings. The 12 o'clock subdial for instance would make sense for a second time-zone overlayed on a moonphase. The 9 o'clock register would probably be part of a chronograph, repsectively the minute register with the central seconds being tied to the chrono. That would probably mean that the watch would be a tourbillion, and the 0 to 20 markings above it would be for the running seconds. That is the first thing that comes to mind that would explain that layout. Maybe an older Vacheron, but no clue.
Hey Andre! Yeah hill billy luxury featured a soemwhat similar watch on his channel by Sturhling original, which do homage pieces, and the complication on the 9 oclock on that example ran a second analog time, when you pull the crown to position one and scroll the crown counter clockwise it sets the hour and minute hand for the subdial, clockwise to set the time on the main face, which was very cool. This example by Olevs probably featured some complications from another known watch (I was wondering if it was Patek) but makes no sense to me to add these features if they aren't working or redundant in the case of the small seconds hand. I wonder if an hour and minute hand could have gone on that subdial as the pinion on it is large enough it appears to be able to have more hands.....who knows. Overall I think it's not a bad offering for 35 bucks. Now to email you a story....
At this price definitely not their own in-house movement (would cost too much to create and produce for just this brand) probably a standard inexpensive Chinese automatic movement. I would also guess an alloy case ....you can scratch under the inside of one of the lugs to check and see.
Hey Karl! Not an in house movement, are you kidding me, they told me it was tripple A hahaha. Yeah, I tried to get information on where it was manufactured and some basic specs for it, model, vph, power reserve etc, but you heard the interaction with the owner if you got that far. All in all though I think it's a good watch for 35 bucks. Not going to scratch the lug, this will be a giveaway watch, either on the channel or to someone out there I meet that needs a watch to wear :)
@@MirrlyonTime yeah sounded like he was careful what he said and was being vague on purpose. I did start this comment before the end of the video (bad habit) but did watch the whole thing. I understand about not scratching it - only mentioned it because I saw another TH-camr do it once to check the reliability of a stores specs and they caught that they weren't being truthful.
I bought an Olevs diver just for kicks one day and man did it surprise me. The dial was beautiful and although the case was plated really well and the bezel even lined up. Although this style is not for me I would certainly buy another model.

@@NaNByZero lol nan, honestly it is a good watch for 35 bucks, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality considering the money spent (well seed money from the influencer program). The design cues are the biggest gripes for me, another running seconds hand and that weird 20 min or 20 hour or whatever those number are wrapping around the top of the balance wheel….why? Otherwise it’s pretty darn good for the money, and hey, an in house movement to boot 😝😝
@@MirrlyonTime I just bought a Nomos homage by Seestern for 63 Euros. Sapphire crystal. Decorated movement. No second hack. No diamonds and no additional useless functions. Great watch but I I don’t think I will wear it a lot because it’s not the original. But the value for money is definitely high. Can I recommend buying it? Yes and no. Depends on what you want. And having a diameter of 39 mm it’s definitely too small for you. The long lugs make it appear larger on the wrist.
I rarely come across a watch, that doesnt have at least some nice features - bit this is such a watch. The amount of BS from the watch company is mind boggling...
Thanks Flemming, I wouldn’t go as far to say that this watch has no nice features, I do like it, but yeah some of the advertising on the aliexpress store for this one is, well, I would say quite hilarious, a joke, but they don’t seem to be kidding haha

@@karlsenula9495 it definitely feels like a plated alloy case, just doesn’t have the heft that a solid steel watch would have.
